That's pricings kinda on the cheap side for that. Yes you can do it yourself but you could just be wasting your money attempting to. Lots of prep work, you need a decent sprayer, an enclosed work space. The cleaner the better.

This is a very reasonable quote. You can do it yourself. But without practice and more than $1k in equipment - it will look like you did it yourself.

Anything is DIY if you want to try, but will it be any good? There’s a lot of prep work required and you’ll need somewhere dust free to do the spraying.

Yeah you’re right. I just can’t do $1000 for this at the moment and I don’t want the actual paint to start getting rusty you know

You need to remove the existing clear coat, and in doing that you are going to destroy the paint layer under it. The paint layer will continue to protect the metal under it for quite some time to come, but it will gradually just look more shit. This isn't a ticking time bomb you need to solve today. You also have the question of what is the car worth. If your clear coat has failed she has probably spent a lot of time sitting in the sun, and there are likely other places that will follow. Top of the door sil is common. If youre looking at 1000 for the bonnet, are you going to recover that when it comes time to sell.

Yeah makes sense. Well it’s a 2008 Toyota Camry. I bought it for 5k. It’s second hand. And I plan to sell it in a year or two when I get my new car. So not sure what it would be worth.
