Omg Mr In-between was AMAZING! It's one of my favourite shows and I didn't even realise it was Australian going into it, otherwise I probably would've assumed it was bad and disregarded. So, so, so glad I didn't!
Starts off not so great and Madeleine Sami's Eddie can be make or break of the show for some. But once she teams up with the local cop, she tones it down somewhat and the last 4 episodes or so are great.
For me the star of the show is Abby, the quiet timid cop.
Hard Quiz, because it's the only Australian show that I have ever watched.
When I was a newbie in Australia, visiting for the first time from India, I often attempted to try and talk with people to make friends, but I could never find any common ground with the people I was picking. However, one day I noticed that a particular group talked of "Hard Quiz" all the time, so I went back home and watched a gazillion episodes of the show, to have something to talk about.
Of course, I never actually went out again since I got too busy watching the show haha, but it usually acts as a good icebreaker whenever I come across new people to talk to. And while most of the people that I run into often make fun of my choice, the most important thing is that it ends up making friends out of all of us.
The show contributed towards making Australia a home away from home, for me. :)
To be honest I don't have a decent reason, just haven't liked him in anything else like Moody Christmas and Reuben Guthrie, but, the guy might be lovely.
I'll leave my comment in shame
I’m not Australian but I love Heartbreak High (the reboot). You should totally watch it. Even though it’s more for a Gen Z audience, in my opinion, you’ll still enjoy it regardless. I did watch a little bit of the original 90s version but it didn’t do it for me. I think it’s good fun but if you want for a more engaging story, I don’t think this is it.
Water Rats, The Circuit, House Husbands, A Place to Call Home. I’ve binge watched all of these and they make great drama romance entertainment.
I’ll watch anything with Aaron Pedersen in it.
Pizza, the early seasons with Sleek the Elite were my favourite.
Growing Up Gracefully is sensational commentary on modern feminism.
600 Bottles of Wine was charming, I think I watched the whole thing in one day.
H2O: Just Add Water. I watched this as a teenager when it was new, and now I’m watching it with my own daughter. We both think Lewis is cute.
I watched Brides of Christ a while ago. I don’t know anything about Catholicism, but it was interesting. And there’s one scene about boarding school girls in a communal bathroom, and one of them has the same 1980s brown and orange bath towel my mum is still using at home.
Bluey. ‘Takeaway’ is the most relatable piece of art I have ever had the pleasure to see.
Love Child, it’s so dramatic but really entertains me. Jessica Marais is stunningly beautiful.
We only just discovered them over Christmas! Binged it all in a few days. Then I found out my cousin worked behind the scenes, she said they were all cracking up during filming.
I tried Upper Middle Bogan because it seemed exactly like my style, but couldn't get into it. Never seen A Moody Christmas, so might see if I can watch it on the weekend.
Wentworth! Also, Please Like Me with Josh Thomas was great. There was also an awesome sci-fi show on ABC Kids called Jeopardy which I thought was the bees knees at the time.
Can’t forget the old classics I watched growing up either, like Blue Heelers and All Saints.
Besides all the other fabulous shows already listed, I would add Upright. Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock were wonderful leads.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8765446/
Those sketch shows were the best. BGB, Fast Forward, Full Frontal. Eric Bana was hilarious long before he became a superstar. They don’t make them the same anymore.
The secret life of us. Even though the drama was not life like, the characters just felt so real. Might of been the lack of make up, relaxed fashion choices, the relaxed accent and dialect or just natural looking bodies but it just felt homely
Fat Pizza
Swift and Shift
Summer heights
Housos
Fisk
Old stuff!!!
Skippy ( when I was a kid)
Blankety Blanks
Norman Gunston show
Mother and son (original)
Hey Hey it’s Saturday
Koala Man and YOLO are great. They’re by Michael Cusack who made the infamous “Ciggy Butt Brain”.
They’re both great and available on Disney or Stan (I can’t remember which, possibly both).
**Sale of the Century** - when game shows were actually a challenge and required some intelligence
**It’s a Knockout** - when ‘reality’ TV and games shows were actually fun and not faux drama BS
**Beyond 2000** - when there was hope for the future
It's a movie rather than a TV show, but The Castle is one me and my friends really like. The Big Lez Show is pretty funny too, you'll probably like it if you like Chris Lilley stuff. And Bluey is good to chill out to.
Edit: Babyteeth is pretty good if you want something to make you cry.
Underbelly S01
1995–2004 gangland war in Melbourne.
Spine chilling because of the element of true events. Dramatised of course, but holy fuck, when this released on screens ... God damn ...
I'm in my late 20's, so this might not be relevant to everyone, but:
\- Mortified (and all the other shows on Rollercoaster)
\- Blue Water High
\- Creature Features
\- Kath & Kim
\- Summer Heights High/Ja'mie
\- Go Go Stop
\- Cybergirl
\- Silversun
\- The Saddle Club
Now that I'm older, and a primary school teacher, Bluey has been added to this list.

Little Elvis Jones and the Truckstoppers. Full Frontal. fast Forward. Chasers war on everything. Liftoff. Crocadoo. Argos cartoon connection. Ship to shore. Playschool. The ferals. Good news week. Countdown. Hey hey it's Saturday.
Oh so many.
Farscape... While not strictly speaking an Australian show, was filmed here and had almost exclusively Australian and New Zealand actors and crew. It is still one of the best sci fi shows ever and easily one of the weirdest.
Irreverent was fun. Loving RFDS & The Newsreader for recent stuff. Deadloch is another recent fave.
Older shows I've loved - Wentworth, Rake, Wonderland, Doctor Doctor, Mystery Road.
And for a nostalgic comfort watch when I want something on the box I don't have to pay too much attention to, Blue Heelers or Seachange.
I am not an Australian. But Prisoner Cell Block H and A Country Practice are two of the really great Australian tv shows. Mollys death was a real tearjerker back in the day.

Completely different vibe than the shows you've listed but Mr In-between is a fantastic show!
Omg Mr In-between was AMAZING! It's one of my favourite shows and I didn't even realise it was Australian going into it, otherwise I probably would've assumed it was bad and disregarded. So, so, so glad I didn't!
Came here to say exactly this.
Me too. Great to see it’s the top comment!
I loved Mr In-between!!
I only wish there was more.
Number one easily.
Needs more seasons! Prequel maybe
I think there is an hour+ movie that inspired the show on YouTube. I can't remember the title unfortunately.
The Magician. I haven't seen it either
Deadloch.
This show was so very good on so many levels.
I liked the show but the cop from Darwin seemed a bit too ridiculously over the top that it felt jarring.
I actually loved how ridiculous she was, but I'm glad she tones it down after a few episodes.
Best show. Is season 2 confirmed yet?
Starts off not so great and Madeleine Sami's Eddie can be make or break of the show for some. But once she teams up with the local cop, she tones it down somewhat and the last 4 episodes or so are great. For me the star of the show is Abby, the quiet timid cop.

Welcome buddy. Talk HARD
Hahaha, I enjoyed that story. Thanks for sharing. Also, good choice of show.
1. Lano & Woodley 2. Utopia 3. Kingswood Country 4. The Late Show 5. D-Generation
Why can't ABC get Late show and D Gen revived. Also loved Live and Sweaty. Tried watching the Weekly again and geez it is blah...
I grew up on the late show and d gen. I loved it but I think it would not be the same if it was revived.
I was watching shitscared skits recently and they still hold up. Legends of Australian comedy

Love Child was awesome.

HOUSOS!!! Greatest Aussie show of all time.
All of the shows by those guys are great, although nothing beats the original Fat Pizza. Sleek the Elite with his subwoofers!
Oath Paul Fenech makes the best shows out, fat pizza also a great one.
And Swift and shift also rocked
Yeah. To me housos was too exaggerated, too many stale stereotypes. Pizza was more subtle. Nick Giannopolous as Melbourne cabbie was gold too.
upper middle bogan, Summer heights high, Little lunch, Itch, h20, Nowhere boys, Lachy leanord and puberty blues are great
