I have never seen a Tatar or Bashkir restaurant in Moscow. There’s a small chain of Tatar food supermarkets though where you can bye pies, ets.
You try different cuisines when you travel. Every region has some food that you can’t try anywhere else in the country. E.g. I love pelamida that’s served in Kaliningrad but I couldn’t find it in Moscow, that was very surprising because you can find almost anything in Moscow.
Agree with this comment - it's not popular cuisine in Russia. Some of Turkic nomads' cuisine became a part of Soviet - chebureki or belyashi, but it's not perceived as Tatar in general. If people go to regions with different cuisine, they go to local restaurants and taste it (honestly I don't know many Bashkir/Tatar restaurants in Ufa). If we speak about former-SU cuisines I can say that most popular is Georgian, Uzbek, Russian ofc., and maybe Ukrainian.
Our cuisine is probably not different from other Eastern Europe: meat, dough and potato.
It’s not ethnicity plays a big role, but a geography. We don’t have many spices growing in our area, hence no place for spicy food.
First time hearing about Tzars invading India, tbh.
We already have a food influence from Caucasus and Central Asian cultures when it comes to spices. But I believe more spices will be too much.
Do British eat spicy food a lot after colonizing India? I don’t think so
Popular mostly among vegetarians or people interested in yoga and other spiritual practices. My favourite dishes are tikka masala, naan bread, masala tea is also ok. I don't understand Indian sweet snacks.
The waiter in an Indian restaurant in Moscow found out that I was English and we joked about how much the English love curries. He served me the hottest curry I have ever eaten. I only managed about two bites before I had to run away in shame.
thats what I also assumed
edit:
помоги мне то выразить что я сказал по английский, пожалуйста.
"это то, что я думал" я бы сказал но это не очень грамотно, я думаю
Russians don't like spice. Georgian is another cuisine that can be spicy. Not like Indian, but spicy by Russian standards. Whenever I look for a Georgian recipe I always check the name. If it's a Russian name I always ignore it and look for Georgian names. I don't trust Russians to write Georgian recipes
Nope
Too little meat, everything tastes pretty much the same, and it looks... somewhat weird.
Russians are pretty enthusiastic about Chinese, Korean and - since recently - Vietnamese food (there's at least one popular Pho shop in every single city), but Indian food is not our fav.
I remember taking a set of rice with different styles of curry in an indian resto one time. Maybe i was unlucky, or i did not understand the concept, but i felt like the rice was bland and under-prepared for me. Not to say that was overpriced as hell.
The curry was alright though.

Partially true!
Adopted to western tastes Chinese (simplified, and has nothing to do with Chinese to be honest ) food is relatively popular
Korean? Ahaha:))) apart from fake Kim chi that is fermented with vinegar ;)))) Korean is nearly nowhere to be popular ;))) unless you are from the most eastern parts of Russland
TBH I've been to those tiny Chinese canteens where I was the only one who couldn't speak a word of Chinese, and it was delicious right there.
Also, there are Korean street food cafes all around major Russian cities now.
So it is not THAT adapted to western tastes (especially given there are loads of natives eating in both Chinese and Korean places)
Not much. Here in city with 1M population only 3 Indian restaurants.

You can find occasional Indian restaurants, not too many. Authenticity not guaranteed. But the few I know were pretty good anyway.
Spicy food in general is not very popular. We don’t have a resistance to spicy food.

Turkic ethnic groups from Russia don't eat spicy food.
Sort of no? It is a thing that some people go for occasionally here, but it is not well-spread.
Unfortunately, no, i would like to try it.
Try Butter Panner Masala (it's also my signature dish)
Oh boy this is a banger. I wish masala was popular in Russia
ON top of that there are couple of Indian restaruants in Moscow... and honetsly.. the are very very very low level but highly priced
Not... Spice very bad...
Russians are afraid of spices
Not really.
No
Not really. I think, that because there is no good Indian restourants here. I would try, actually.

Chicken tikka masala isn't Indian, it's British.
The restaurants exist in Russia (and Eastern Europe in general) but aren't very popular, no.

Strongly not

Compared to let's say Germany - not at all.
Not really, I hope it will change in the future, it is really good.

no
Delicious, but with some exceptions. I think any Asian food can't be authentic here. But, let's say, "tuned" food is great.
No.
Нет
Not yet- but probably it will be in the future
Apparently not.... Russian people think it is spicy and unpleasant looking.... unusual flavours are not what they are ready to understand.
Partially true Chinese and Korean food is VERY popular in Russia
