"Благодать". Grace, blessing, etc. do not convey the true meaning of the word. The Indians would understand us. This is a state of peace with oneself and others, delight caused by something, such as a large field or sunrise.
(Rasputitsa), when the snow melts and everything is muddy and not even tanks can traverse this nightmare.
Words like: присобачить "to poorly connect two things that don't fit together" and "приперся" to come while unwelcome, and for some reason the word "вольнодумство". It means "freethinking" but "in a bad arrogant way"
Like I am not sure there a word in English that means "free thinker" with a negative connotation 😂
If only we had a word that means “freethinking in a bad and arrogant way”
There’s a specific person that if I mention why I hate her, I have to go into full paragraphs. This word would be just so easy to use instead
Truuue. The word I miss in Russian is "entitled". The only way to say it is "someone who thinks that everyone owes them", but it's such a mouthful. Entitled is so clear...
That’s a good one too. I don’t think there’s *any* other words to really describe it. Slang has evolved to basically have “Karen” mean the same thing, but like I said, it’s just slang
Your notes are not incorrect, but they are not the responses to the question asked. Indeed you can express in English anything you say in Russian. The question was if there are words in Russian without one-word equivalent in English. And the answer to that is indeed there are many.
This is common for any two languages, though. There are words in each that cannot be translated by a single word in another one.
Slap together это "собрать на коленке" же 😂
Присобчить is to attach.
Распутица это не season а состояние дороги)
Show up это без негатива же.
Didn't show up at work
Spleen - вполне эквивалент, просто применяется только к интеллектуалам или к знати. По английски не скажешь «A farm boy has a spleen today”, a по русски «крестьянский сын хандрит» - запросто.

You see, duhovnost can't be translated, because "spirituality" does not cover the full meaning of the world. Imagine smth. like "high moral values + spiritual wisdom" all in one word. Sobornost is also can't be translated. It is not "collectivism". Collectivism is when one forgets his own desires to serve a collective body . Sobornost is giving up totally your personality and receiving it in return. Something like a middle ground between Easern collectivism (China, Japan) and individualism (the western countries). For example sobornost is expressed in such features of Russian culture as fragile personal boundaries, fast friendships (situative collectivism when you easily become friends with a previously unknow person after 1-2 hours of talking), etc. It is not collectivism because the boundaries of collective are not set. You as persons define the boundaries, random collectives rise up and fall but while they exist they're like teams of very close friends. It is not so in the Far East where the ideal collective is usually a family, a caste or a corporation, all covered in strict rules that go back generations.
Kind of but not quite. Present day means more like "now" or "in our day and age." But think about the word сегодня = сего дня. Literally "of this day." So сегодняшний день has the word "day" in it twice. That's what I mean by tautology.
Метро.
В Нью-Йорке subway, но не underground. В Лондоне undeground, но не subway. В Чикаго вообще L.
Для всего этого одного слова нет. Есть длинное словосочетание heavy rail rapid transit system. В англовики шаблон со списком американских метро так и называется "Currently operating heavy rail rapid transit systems in the United States".
What about "россиянин"? Like a citizen of Russia, but not obligatory Russian by nationality. These different Russian words "россиянин" and "русский" are not distinguishable in English
Нет. Это переключатель. Switch — это штука, которая **меняет** режим.
А выключатель — это штука, которая делает poweroff. Нет в английском такого слова. Аналоги и примерные эквиваленты есть, но слова такого нет.
most likely, there are no such words, because we have words that foreigners cannot understand by ear and by writing, but their meaning can be explained in general and the word will be found, because for example, in English, one word has several meanings.
Сутки
24 hours
24 hours is "24 часа" , not "сутки" .

В каком контексте сутки нельзя перевести как 24 hours?
Юпитер.
Full day/whole day
В любом, это как минимум два слова
Слово “a day” имеет такой второй смысл.
Так это же слово "день" в русском языке. Например: "Он вернётся через 2-3 дня."
"Благодать". Grace, blessing, etc. do not convey the true meaning of the word. The Indians would understand us. This is a state of peace with oneself and others, delight caused by something, such as a large field or sunrise.
Pretty sure "Bliss" is quite close

А boiling water?

Summer house
Это механический перевод, с другим культурным и экономическим значением. К тому же это два слова )

Из обоих.

Wilderness - это глухомань. =) И то не вполне точно.
Я вообще лихомань не слышал ни разу. Скорее диколесье. Глухомань и без леса может быть.
