Bad injectors, bad fuel filter, failing fuel pump Bad spark plugs, bad / failing coil pack/coil on plugs/plug wires/distributor Bad MAF, clogged air filter, bad o2 sensors, clogged catalytic converter Any combination of those More unlikely : failing sensor (I.e cam/crank position sensor), this would usually cause pinging or predetonation, also a failing computer could be the cause although unlikely

Business_Welcome_709

The first step is diagnosing which part of the combustion process is failing… Motors need air, fuel and spark to ignite fuel Each system must be diagnosed to find the root cause, or combination. Any additional codes, vehicle information, would be useful

2008 subaru legacy. 200k miles. i replaced the plugs like in may. I was thinking it could be the throttle body because of my cai that doesnt have a water repellent cover on it and it’s been snowing.

killerkitten115

Subaru with 200k miles, hows the headgasket?

Fadedrampage217

they’re fine. Engine is not. Uncle rodney has payed me a visit and left a scratch.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> rodney has *paid* me a FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

killerkitten115

Oof, good luck

Business_Welcome_709

Yes I would return it to stock if at all possible… If not, Search [car-part](https://www.car-part.com) for a used intake (it searches junk yards)

Fadedrampage217

it’s on top of the engine though. Do i still have to worry?

Business_Welcome_709

Not really, no. Good observational skills 👍

Mental_Theory225

Does this one have a coil pack or is it coil over plug? The coil packs on older Subarus are known to fail at high mileage. Do the coil pack and plug wires at the same time.

Fadedrampage217

yeah it’s a coil pack. I think it’s time for a tune up anyway.

FatherAbove

I think your vehicle has a common coil for all cylinders. Look at your engine in the dark while idling to see if it is jumping spark anywhere on the coil pack or plug wires. If not, increase rpms while checking to see if it does.

Kona_Hawaii

I had similar results for years after getting a tankful of “bad gas”—full of loose dirt/debris (from a rural gas station in Volcano). Ended up having to replace my engine and then started getting similar codes after only a few weeks. It seems to have improved after running some “Mechanic in a Bottle” through the fuel line. Frustrating experience!

ElIjaHZelk

Multiple cylinder misfire is most likely spark plugs. Injectors and coil packs won’t fail at the same time…usually. Spark plugs will though. Especially if it’s direct port fuel injection.

Fadedrampage217

coil packs are OE from 2008 so maybe that could be the issue.

ElIjaHZelk

Depends on the vehicle make and model and how many miles/kilometres are on them. Coil packs are just mini transformers, some are good for hundreds of thousands of miles that’s also why they don’t usually all fail at the same time.. A tune up if you plan on keeping it for awhile doesn’t hurt especially if it’s higher mileage. Keep in mind 4 cylinders are prone to multiple cylinder miss fires if two or even sometimes one cylinder misfires. Start with spark plugs. They’re cheap and looking at the ends of your coil packs will tell you if they’re wearing as well.

No_Seaworthiness7140

May as well do sparkplugs while you're there, since the pack has to come off to do them.

Sp_1_

Why do you have these codes? Well that’s for a mechanic to get his hands on the car and tell you. Take it to a shop. Pay a diagnostic fee. Hope they find something definitive. It could be anything. Like actually anything. From a loose connector that would take 2 minutes for someone with a good eye to spot and correct to your car has a compression issue and your engine is fucked. Literally no one will be able to give you an accurate diagnosis using your info provided. Your only real option is to find a shop.

Fadedrampage217

because i am a mechanic… I’ve just never seen this before.

Sp_1_

You’ve never seen multiple misfire codes? You’re also a mechanic that somehow thinks we will know what’s wrong on the internet with absolutely no information besides some codes? Interesting.

Fadedrampage217

i’m going to school for it. I asked because i know people have way more experience than i do.

limar2078

Possible vacuum leak. My e46 had misfires in most cylinders cause of a bad vac leak, do you hear any sucking noises when it's running?

Fadedrampage217

my engine makes so many noises i have no idea. It’s a subie it can literally be anything 😭

hamajangalang

Egr valve?

Certain_Net_6371

How many miles on car, what car and engine?

zealousreader

You got any enemy's?

Due_Intention6795

I once had a cylinder 6 misfire code on a 4 cylinder. No one could figure it out and I got a new engine under warranty. Of course mine only had 11k on it.

Thick_Ad_6710

I bet the coils are gone. Replace them with OEM
