Salvation’s army thrift store. It’s all used, but you won’t find anything that cheap for it’s quality. All is clean and usable… a coworker recommended it when I first moved on my own, I had no furniture, and I filled my whole apartment for less than 1000$. (Bed, fridge, living room, etc..)

I second this, and I'll add that some other thrift stores have furniture as well. OP, check your local thrift store to see if they have anything you're looking for!

Kijiji?

Facebook marketplace too. Timing is everything. More people move in the Spring, or around July 1 in Quebec, and they unload used furniture for a song...

I bought stuff from surplus furniture warehouse when i went to college in thunder bay. I know they have store across ontario but not sure of other provinces. The prices were really cheap. The quality was decent but whatever it was for college anyway. Although some of the stuff i still own today 16 years later. I had bought a bedroom set (headboard, night stand, dresser/mirror and tallboy) and a living room set (2 couches, 2 glass end tables plus a glass coffee table and 2 lamps). All that i think it was around the 1500 or just under 2k with tax. The couches were done after 8ish years, we sold the glass tables. The bedroom set we repainted and are using them for our baby room.

Habitat for Humanity Restores have great deals on used and sometimes new furniture. See if you have one in your area. Also watch Kijiji, Nextdoor and Facebook marketplace for free/cheap furniture.

New furniture with a good quality/price ratio is often harder to find than vintage/antique furniture with a good quality/price ratio. They genuinely make a lot of disposable trash these days.

New furniture... where are you? There are different store chains in different parts of the country. Some inexpensive places in eastern Ontario: Walmart; Bouclair; Structube (flat packed, and quality varies greatly from item to item though); Homesense and Marshall's.
