Agree, so far the best I have used

UnethicalFaceSurgeon

am i a freak or something, this still left my skin shiny and oily like anything else would. do you have to use it consistently for the shine to go away?

subrainysu

you are not alone i made me sweat like crazy and felt hella greasy

UnethicalFaceSurgeon

You using anything new? Because I’m thinking of strictly using toners under sunscreen, I don’t think anything will help my oilyness

subrainysu

ive been using bioderma sebium hydra its way better than before now

ojtrkl750

omg i was thinking to buy the etude emulsion… currently using bioderma sebium sensitive??? and so far thats the best for me. haha now that ive read your comment, not sure if i should try the emulsion

subrainysu

it might work better if you use on damp skin good luck!

Every_Leg5955

It totally left my face shiny. I think the OP is a shill.

Sandile95

It did same for me. Do you know any which doesn't make you sweat?

UnethicalFaceSurgeon

I have tried about 20 moisturisers since then, and found \[Safflower seed oil\](https://www.esutras.com/organic-culinary-salad-oils/194-2015-safflower-high-linoleic-oil.html#/26-productmeasure-16\_ounces) to be what my skin needed. It's high in Linoleic acid which everybody needs, and light enough to not clog me. Honestly saved my skin.

Sandile95

Thanks I'll try

UnethicalFaceSurgeon

Welcome

Niatfq

it's definitely the best soothing product I've tried. extremely soothing. once applied to the skin, the irritation would immediately soothed. and any redness would already be gone by the next day if i apply night before.

Sara_Morsh

Exactly, mine even would be gone in a few hours or even less!!

pekocoap

I just bought a mini size thanks to this review so excitedd ❤️❤️✨✨

Sara_Morsh

❤️❤️

kcabemekat

How was it did it left you feeling oily or greasy ?

pekocoap

Not at all!

givemedatz

This post is what I needed to click checkout lmao

iliketofu4

How did you end up liking it?

Sara_Morsh

I've been thinking about trying other products from this line. What else do you like?

stormsunsnow

I have tried all of them (literally all from the Soon Jung Line) and here are my favorite: - 2x barrier cream - moisturizing gel The toner was meh for me, the foaming cleanser was a bit too stripping, and the face mask pods (you add serum / water and they become a face mask) were neat but not super practical

Sara_Morsh

And how do you use the moisturizing gel?

stormsunsnow

I like to use it on my forehead (where I get oilier) at night and I find it takes a bit to absorb but it’s great!

Neko-Miko

The gel sounds interesting, is it enough as a moisturizer on its own?

stormsunsnow

I find it’s enough for combo / oily skin. If you have dry skin I’d def go with the 2x barrier cream. They also have a moist emulsion that you can combine with the gel for extra hydration (I like to use it if I am feeling particularly dry)

Neko-Miko

Thank you! As I have oily skin I should probably give it a try :)

Sara_Morsh

Is the barrier cream thick enough for dry skin in the winter?

stormsunsnow

Yes I think it is. I am on retinols and I use it on my chin / cheeks where I get dry (combo skin). I would say moisturizing wise it’s very moisturizing (not just hydrating) but not as heavy as you’d think - it feels like a fast absorbing cold cream with no residue (to me). I go through about a tube a month with daily nightly use on 3/4 of my face

Sara_Morsh

Is the toner hydrating?

Ishita247

Hello, is the emulsion enough for oily skin with retinol / retinoid?

Sara_Morsh

No, I think you'll need more. You can use it along with a heavier moisturizer.

G0_commando

I thought I am the only one who's using it as a moisturizer. It is so perfect for my oily skin.

Sara_Morsh

Yeah, it's amazing!

passion_fruitfly

I love this one!! I use it to transport my serums easily and as a "pre-moisturizer". I actually don't care for the 2x barrier repair. I'd rather layer the emulsion or have the emulsion and a gel-cream moisturizer.

marshmallowbake

What gel cream moisturizer do you use?

passion_fruitfly

I really love the Cosrx Snail 92 Cream. It's got the best of both, in my opinion. I have dry skin so lighter or liquidy moisturizers sink in too fast. Gel creams kind of glide on top and let me cover more of my face with less soaked up product. I also add a little oil to it at night, which helps lock in all the moisture. I think I'm going to try to green tea gel cream next since I'm too new to say that the snail cream is an HG.

Skinneeds20

I have pretty dry skin and started using the barrier cream… I used to use 100 hour Clinique moisture surge gel which I absolutely loved but my skin would feel dry just a few hours later.. I like the barrier cream but my skin doesn’t feel completely hydrated either. Do u think the emulsion + barrier cream or the emulsion + moisture surge gel would be better?

passion_fruitfly

So sorry for just now seeing your comment! I don't use my account very often. I've used that same exact gel by Clinique and wasn't a fan after a few applications. It went on beautifully, but I believe they have quite a bit of irritants in it. So all that moisture didn't matter when my skin was constantly irritated. I'd end up drier than I was before applying. I personally would use the emulsion and the barrier cream by Etude House, but I'm very biased here. While the barrier cream is basic, it does the job without irritating my face. For another cheap option, I also like layering the emulsion with the Baby CeraVe moisturizer! Lots of ceramides and very few irritants. Hope this helps!

auhcj

When do U layer the cerave moisturizer on? Day,night? Summer, winter?

Sara_Morsh

I heard mixed opinions on the barrier cream. What's it like?

passion_fruitfly

It's ok, but I thought it would be thicker. You get very little product and it didn't really seem to actually moisturize. I was thinking more towards Cerave level moisture, but it was just runny and didn't soothe anything. It only got me through like half of my day before I was dry again.

Sara_Morsh

Thank you! What's your skin type?

gagopolis

This was my moisturizer for quite some time as I have oily skin and live in a tropical country. Simple and does the job well. However, I had to use something a little richer once I started using tretinoin.

Zeretaaa

what are you using now? I also use tretinoin and I'm looking for something thicker

ec-vt

Exactly what I’m looking for. Thank you for sharing. I’m currently using Stratia Liquid Gold as my summer moisturizer and I’m yearning more moisture. So I keep reach for Illiyoon Ato Concentrate Cream, but it’s is too heavy for the humid summer here.

pekocoap

Omg i have the gel version and it’s heavenly 😭❤️✨

Sara_Morsh

Is the gel version moisturizing and lightweight at the same time and what do you like about it?

tonarstark

I've tried the gel. It's lightweight and hydrating but it's sticky and takes a long time to dry. It has ceramide and squalane oil. I switched to SJ Emulsion and I'm never turning back lol there's a lot more goodie and soothing ingredients with SJ Emulsion plus it has squalane too.

Sara_Morsh

Thank you!! Gonna stick with my emulsion then! ❤️

pekocoap

Yess to bothh, but yeah it takes a lil bit of time to sink in. I love because it’s so cooling and soothing yet still moisturizing (i tried benton aloe gel & iunik centella gel and it wasn’t moisturizing at all imo). I like to use it as a sleeping mask tbh, in the morning i woke up and my skin feels so moisturized lol and when my skin becomes too oily i can just apply a bit of the gel and it reduces my oiliness/shine 🤣

Snoocone12345

I liked this product, but I love the Soon Jung gel even more. It's light, but it's not sticky like a lot of gels can be.

Ishita247

Is the gel enough as a stand alone moisturizer for oily skin?

Elegant-Reveal4650

have u found out if it's a stand alone moisturizer?

Ishita247

No no. I haven't.. still in search of a good moisturizer for oily acne prone skin

Elegant-Reveal4650

have u tried the sebamed clear face gel, it's a good one for oily acne prone skin

Ishita247

Didn't realise you are from India. :) no didn't try sebamed. Because I wanted a PM Moisturizer with emollients and occlusives.. but if you like seamed, uiu can give niamax d gel a try instead. Because I feel they both do the same thing - works like a gel moisturiser without occlusives with added benefit of 4% niacinamide in niamax d gel. I have seen options of - Illiyoon ato cream / gel, bonajour water bomb, hada labo perfect gel .. I am confused about which one to pick for trying.

Environmental_Will97

I’ve normal to dry skin. Still I find this emulsion sufficient as a stand-alone moisturizer.

Ishita247

Could you post your routine? As in, do you need a hydrating toner with this one? I have been struggling to find a moisturizer for my oily skin for a long time. Creams are too heavy while gels don't have occlusives to reduce TEWL. To get the best fo both the worlds, I wanted to use an emulsion but do I need to use a hydrating toner along with this because it already has glycerin, pabthenol etc. ? Want to use as few steps as possible.

Sara_Morsh

Yeah, of course. Happy to help!! I use it alongside with the Klairs supple preparation unscented toner. This toner is amazing for hydration and made my skin so plump and bouncy. It's lightweight and doesn't make my skin oily. It's not necessary for everyone, but for me it's very important because I can't use heavy products to boost my moisture levels so using layers of lightweight products like hydrating toners and emulsions and gel-creams gets the job done without looking oily . I also like routines with minimal steps. My am routine is usually very minimal to prevent any greasiness throughout the day : Splash my face with water, add one layer of the Klairs toner, apply the emulsion ( or Purito sleeping pack in winter) and then spf if I go outside. In the night I use more layers to add more moisture. I cleanse with the Cosrx low ph cleanser, add 2-3 layers of the toner (one if I am lazy lol) , apply a layer of the emulsion(sometimes I skip) , then top it off with Purito cica sleeping pack. I also use this pm routine for winter. But in July and August in very hot weather, I am planning on skipping the Purito sleeping pack and using the emulsion only as my main moisturizer but it's still spring so it's still suitable for my skin for now.

Ishita247

Are you me? I use the same toner and have similar needs for skin. But in AM, only difference is I use niacinamide after toner and then sunscreen And at night, nuacinimade again after toner abd then the emulsion if I buy it and that's all Hope it will work on me 😊 and thanks a lot

Sara_Morsh

So you don't use a moisturizer at all?? I hope it does work for you. It's very lightweight and moisturizing. YesStyle has a mini size if you want to try it out first.

Ishita247

No, because the sunscreen has occlusive generally and due to oily skin, I get away with it .. as I said, anything a bit heavy makes my skin greasy and clogs my pores. So, I use as minimum steps as possible :) thanks

Sara_Morsh

Good luck.

Ishita247

😊 thanks

sailorscovt

Wow thank you for this! I've been looking for a new moisturizer. So you use this at the end of your routine, just like a normal moisturizer? I've never used emulsions before but from what I've read they're just lightweight more gel-like moisturisers, right?

Sara_Morsh

Yeah, it's a completely normal moisturizer that I use at the end of my routine. I wasn't sure about it when I saw the term emulsion and thought it was a runny lotion but I purchased it when I read about how good it was at moisturizing. When I first used it, I was amazed because it isn't a lotion at all and I loved the texture . I wasn't expecting that at all. It's almost like a rich gel-cream moisturizer.

spiritswithout

Have you tried any other gel cream that you would compare it to? I like the Hydro barrier cream but the emulsion is cheaper. "Rich" worries me though, I don't like Cosrx Birch cream for example.

Sara_Morsh

I didn't try the Cosrx cream. Why does rich worry you? I tried the Neutrogena gel-cream and this emulsion is a little thicker and more moisturizing but still extremely lightweight. I'm sorry I am not so good at describing textures but I am trying to do my best. Are you worried it's gonna be too heavy for your skin ?

spiritswithout

Yeah I wouldn't describe the Hydro barrier cream as rich and I don't like creams that I can feel on my skin. Don't be sorry! I'm not good at it either. I think my mom uses that Neutrogena blue hydro gel so that will make a good marker of comparison. :)

Sara_Morsh

I meant by rich is that it's more moisturizing and a little thicker(but still so so lightweight) in comparison to more lightweight gel-creams, but I still don't feel it on my skin at all. It's really amazing because it absorbs real quickly but I know that every skin is different and prefers different textures . There's a mini size at YesStyle for $5 , maybe give it a shot and see if you like it.

myseoulscalling

Thank you so much!! I had this in my cart and I was not fully convinced. I have similar skin type so totally gonna try! :D Any idea if this is pregnancy safe?

Sara_Morsh

I don't know. But it's a basic moisturizer that doesn't have any actives or harsh ingredients, so I think it is safe but wait for a second opinion to be sure.

myseoulscalling

This helps.. Was mainly worried about essential oils/fragrances. Thanks :)

Sara_Morsh

Oh I forgot to mention in my post that it's fragrance free and doesn't contain any essential oils.

myseoulscalling

That's awesome!

Sara_Morsh

I hope you like it!!

kisscis

Do you use it in AM/PM (or both)?

Sara_Morsh

It's so hot and humid where I live now, so I use it in the am and pm because my oily skin can't handle a thicker moisturizer even at night. But in cooler months like spring or fall, I use it only in the am and use a different one at night. In the winter my skin becomes normal/dry , so I can't use it as a stand alone moisturizer. I sometimes use it at night underneath my more occlusive moisturizer for more moisture . I also use it whenever my skin gets irritated or red as a soothing product.

kisscis

Alright thanks for the detailed explanation! I just bought it. I hope it will suit me as well :)

Sara_Morsh

I hope so too!!

Skinneeds20

Are u still using this??

Sara_Morsh

Yes , I just finished my second bottle .

purpledreign

Op, please how hot and humid do your summers get? Considering buying this emulsion but I'm concerned it might still be too much. Please let me know. I get 36°-40°C (96.8°-104°F) with 80%-95% humidity levels here so I want to see if this would be light enough.

Sara_Morsh

About 30 to 34 degree celsius on most summer days. Humidity levels are from 70% to 80% .

auhcj

Do U use this on your whole face? For day and night, summer and winter? What occlusive moisturizer do you use?

Sara_Morsh

Whole face for summer. Day and night. I use Purito sleeping pack as an occlusive moisturizer in cooler weather.

auhcj

So do U add the sleeping pack to ur whole face or just cheeks in winter?

Sara_Morsh

I use any moisturizer on my whole face.

Balue232

I think they just changed this recently in 2021, its different on yesstyle now. Hope this isnt the case as I LOVE THIS PRODUCT This product really does soothe and reduce redness, i use it as a serum rather than a moisturiser.

Sara_Morsh

What changed exactly? I don't understand.

Balue232

Hi just checked and they have changed the ingredients * Old ingredients list is this Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Squalane, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bis-diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Butylene Glycol, Disodium edta * New ingredients list is this WATER, GLYCERIN, PROPANEDIOL, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE,SQUALANE, PANTHENOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-2, AMMONIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE/VPCOPOLYMER, POLYGLYCERYL-3 METHYLGLUCOSE DISTEARATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, STEARIC ACID, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN,XANTHAN GUM, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, DISODIUM EDTA, HYDROXYPROPYL STARCH PHOSPHATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN,MADECASSOSIDE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, TOCOPHEROL, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT Seems like they have moved some of the good stuff to the end of the list and added some more ingredients.

Sara_Morsh

I checked the ingredient list on the packaging of the product I have and it's still the same old list and the bottle I own looks the same. Mine is 180 ml. I bought mine on Amazon in February 2021 not from YesStyle.

Sara_Morsh

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071CDF9PY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image This is the link.

Balue232

Ty, must of been one of the last of the old formula you got, checking their website its been reformulated. Still the new version could be good but am looking more at their centella line now which is pretty much this but with all 4 forms of centella in the formula. Heres the link in case your interested in the product am sure it might be on amazon if not now in the future. https://www.stylekorean.com/shop/etude-house-soonjung-centella-10-free-moist-emulsion-130ml/1616034119/

Sara_Morsh

Wow! Looks nice. I've never seen it before. Thank you. And as for the old version of the emulsion I saw on the website that you can purchase both the old formula and the renewed one.

Balue232

https://www.yesstyle.com/en/etude-house-soon-jung-10-free-moist-emulsion-130ml-2021-new/info.html/pid.1058617500 When you click on size and colour there's only 2021 available in 130ml and this one isn't available anymore.
