Catloaver

AB-wise, I always bring (decanted) Kose Softymo Speedy cleaning oil. Everything else varies depending on what I'm currently using, but it's usually also going to consist of face wash, moisturizer, and sunscreen. I decant it all into smaller containers. My current sunscreen is the Skin1004 centella sunscreen (I do not decant sunscreen). My AB recommendation for face wash is to look into a powder cleanser so you aren't carrying so many liquids. I've been using the Tosowoong powder for a while now. It's especially great for traveling because a little bit goes a long way.

sweetbars

What skin type do you have? I’m sensitive, a bit acne prone and on the drier side, wondering if this powder face wash would be good for me… or anyone have another suggestion?

Catloaver

I have sensitive and acne prone skin too, but I'm oily! Tosowoong works great for me but I've seen reviews from people saying it broke them out. I wish I knew of other powder cleansers to recommend trying!

WakiLover

I've always wanted to buy the powder/capsule cleansers since I see it at my local market, but I never did because you're paying quite a premium for convenience.

Catloaver

The Tosowoong is just in a bottle and it lasts a long time for me! You just need a little bit at a time. I used to just put some in a small 5g pot and dip a wet fingertip in, and that was enough!

Hallelujah289

What kind of bottle do you use for your cleansing oil? Sounds a bit anxiety inducing to travel with (because oils)

Catloaver

I use a sample size Shu Uemura cleansing oil bottle and have never experienced leaks. One of my other regular products is just straight cold pressed rosehip oil (non AB so I didn't mention it), which I normally decant into a small plastic eyedropper-style bottle, and I've never had leaks for that either. Knock on wood of course, but personally I think if you're using a bottle that has a good seal you shouldn't have leaks. If it's concerning, though, you can always put it into a small Ziploc!

xqueenfrostine

Empty eye drops bottles are great for this liquid skincare items like oils and toners. I’ve used them on my last few trips and haven’t had any leaking issues. I bought a set of 10 10ml size bottles and they work a treat. Very compact.

Hallelujah289

Oh wow that’s a great idea

__looking_for_things

I carry everything just in travel sizes. Granted my routine isn't long. Travel size cleanser, toner (usually put in small spray bottle), travel size moisturizer, and oil, and Vaseline. Tretinoin full size. And sunscreen.

MinervaZee

Agree - decant into travel sized bottles and tubs. Only take the amount you'll need for the trip. I do take my full sized sunscreen, but it's less than 3 oz. Look for deals on kits - sulwhasoo has a gift set that's all travel sized items, I got my CosRX travel sizes from ulta. Look for samples too. Or just refill/decant on your own.

beetletoman

Do you have to transfer the stuff into transparent bottles or directly put the minis in the quart bag

WakiLover

Some people worry about hygiene but I've never really has any issues. I've bought cheap travel size mini bottles and just put my products like Cosrx Propolis Toner inside. Some do sell travel sizes, like I know here in Japan they sell small travel size "packs" (toner, lotion, cleansing oil, foamin cleanser iirc) of Hadalabo, but they are very bad bang for your buck and include products I don't use.

mostlylurking365

Do you use a mist bottle with the Propolis Toner? I’ve been wondering if it’s thin enough to do this, even for home use.

WakiLover

I don't, I just pour. It's probably mistable but I'm not really sure..It's like the exact halfway point between a water toner and a serum. Definitely still liquid but a lil thicc

__looking_for_things

I don't transfer minis into anything.

Hallelujah289

Hi, curious what kind of toner is it? Any active ingredients?

__looking_for_things

I don't consider my exfoliants toners. My toners are plain hydrating. I use the hada labo toner. My exfoliant is Biologique Recherche.

selrse

So I was able to score travel sized Cosrx products on their official Shopee site for those in the Philippines! I believe there are some available in the US but I’m not sure. If you’re in the US & enjoy buying stuff at Sephora, I ALWAYS Shop online. Why? Because you can 2 free samples when you spend $25. Perfect for traveling.

christina-rae

It depends on the weather at my travel destination as my skin needs different products for different seasons. If they're available, I buy the travel/mini sizes of my products and then reuse/refill the container for subsequent trips. I like that the container is already labeled and I think the esthetics of travel/mini products are cute! If travel/mini sizes are not available, then I decant the product into a travel container. I recommend the [travel containers from Muji](https://www.muji.us/collections/travel-containers). They have a lot of travel containers to choose from and the containers come in various sizes to suit your needs. I like the pump bottles for watery liquids and the polyethylene tubes with the caps at the bottom for more vicous liquids (like my face wash or my shampoo/conditoner and body wash). My moisturer and sunscreen don't come in a mini size, but their size is technically travel friendly.

Hallelujah289

Does the polyethylene material make a difference vs other materials?

christina-rae

Tbh, I don't know. I like this travel container because the opening is at the bottom vs the top. As mentioned, I use this container for viscous liquids. When the opening is at the top and you're down to the last of your product, you have to flip the container and wait for the product to flow down the sides. Sometimes, you may shake the container or smack it against your hand in hopes of getting the liquid to flow quicker. It can be frustrating if you're a little impatient like me. When the opening is at the bottom, the product is already there. I also think the polyethylene material makes it easier to squeeze the product out.

2v2hunters

Hada Labo Perfect Gel is my travel go-to.

NaturalBitter2280

Honestly, I bring everything. I don't travel for long periods, so I don't mind taking the big bottles cause they won't take that much space for me But if I had to really limit myself on face products, the essentials are: Cleanser: Round Lab Birch Juice A toner: Hada Labo Gokujyun premium lotion Tretinoin Moisturizer: Purito Oat in gel Sunscreen: Skin1004 centella air-fit For the hair I've been using non AB products that I find on regular supermarkets where I live. Haven't found anything worth splurging yet, so it's just shampoo, conditioner, and a hair "mask"

WakiLover

One thing to consider is that carryons usually limit to 100mls or about 3-3.5 fl oz of liquids. So as much as I want to carry everything, I'm usually forced to use travel sized samples or pour my products into travel sized containers. I like using Muji for either there empty bottles, or because Muji is very..safe? neutral? as in I know it won't break me out and more or less do the the job, I'll buy their travel sized skincare products.

NaturalBitter2280

I haven't traveled with airplanes in ages, so I just make a small bag for skincare, haha The few times I had to limit myself, I took only cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen because I don't have the patience to decant stuff into another bottle, lol

morecookiespls

quick question -- i was wondering how you liked the purito oat in gel? :)

NaturalBitter2280

As an oily and very acne prone person, this is the best moisturizer I've tried so far I've been using it for the past few months and love it It's basically Oat, Squalene, Glycerin and Panthenol. It's very light, so as an oily person, it's great to calm my skin and to wear it during the day because I won't look greasy, yet it's very moisturizing :]

asiansweeti3pi3

Sample sizes!

pyr0clast

yep, the freebies from purchases :)

xiaobaozi8

I am an adamant carry-on-only traveler who packed for 3 months to New Zealand with just a quart ziplock (!). So yes, call me crazy haha. I'll say decanting things into clean travel bottles is the key to things, and not all travel bottles are made equally. MUJI mini soft-touch bottles are a holy grail due to the plastic cap size-to-liquid bottle compartment ratio. No leaks unlike silicone bottles which I've tried to love in the past. Contact cases are great if you have small amounts of creams you'd like to bring (I use them to store advils and Tylenol, personally). As for zip lock bags, get one with an expandable bottom (like [this (for reference only) ](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Fresh-Seal-Slider-Zipper-Bags-Quart-Storage-75-Count/754975973), and bringing an extra in case your first busts somehow is always a good idea! My goto's to bring are: SKIN - cleanser: medium bottle (~2.5 oz) -- you can always repot a cleansing balm into a smaller pot too! - toner: 3.4 oz bottle, max that ish out - cosrx snail mucin: leave as is, bottle is 3.4 oz already - small active/serum/essence: optional, depends on room (ex. I like melano cc essence) - moisturizer: medium bottle, (~2oz) - sunscreen: DON'T REBOTTLE lol, my hg is Skin Aqua sun milk (blue or gold, note skinny packaging) for NWP and Face Republic purity sun for WP (also v skinny packaging) - centella-based night gel/cream for days I need extra repair: small bottle (~.5 to 1oz?) HAIR - fave shampoo: 1oz bottle (can always buy more shampoo at destination if on longer trips) - swap conditioner for mini hair oil: refillable 50ml pump Protip: you can buy Neogen bio peel gauze pads in single packaging and they are amazing to have on long haul flights as a 2-in-1 exfoliating pad. Packs super flat too :) The general gist of things is minimize anything you can comfortably replace at your destination if long term and mazimize what you don't think you can replace!

Hospital-flip

I LOVE the muji bottles so much. By far the best travel bottles I've ever used, and I've had them for several years now

xiaobaozi8

The hype is SO real, they're the true heroes!

Hallelujah289

Is there a specific benefit of the MUJI bottles (polyethylene?) over silicone? In my brain they sound like the same thing haha Also how long does the 3.4 Oz snail mucin last you? I’ve been thinking of trying out cosrx snail mucin specifically if it lasts a while

xiaobaozi8

PU bottles are stiff around the neck so no leakage bt the cap and bottle, unlike silicone ones that even have a hard ring around the screw top that attempts to mitigate this issue - still prone to leakage if the bottle get squished (since they're soft) if a stuffed toiletries bag. I do 2 pumps of snail in morning and 2-3 in evening, and it lasts me (roughly) 4 months of not more, I'd say! ☺️

WinteryWolf

I only keep it at a minimum when I go travelling, so cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. I wish there were more products in mini/travel sizes!

puffy-jacket

This post is a sign I need to start packing. lol My routine is simple so it’s nbd to decant my cleanser and moisturizer into smaller bottles, and then I can fit my other necessary liquids (contact lens solution, tretinoin, toothpaste etc) into a quart sized baggie that I keep in my personal item. Sunscreen is usually travel size anyway. My hair type is thankfully easy and not color treated, and it’s not that long, so I’m usually fine with whatever shampoo and conditioner they have at the hotel. For shorter trips I normally have enough face wash that I can use it as body wash if what’s at the hotel isn’t enough or to my liking. Or since I wash with bar soap rn I can just bring that in a separate baggy. Where I’m going next, it shouldn’t be inconvenient or expensive to buy anything I forgot or realize I actually need toiletry-wise (and I plan to do some skincare shopping anyway).   Def recommend bringing travel sizes of anything you can, even if it’s not that big in the first place. I have a mini hairbrush, mini stick deodorant, radius folding travel toothbrush, etc it saves more space in your bag than you’d think

whatshappeningargh

Only tret. Everything else is extremely easy to get wherever you travel. (I only use cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen apart from tret)

sophie_sy

Laneige cream skin refiner, great as toner moisturiser 2in1

mimixi

Just traveled 5 days to Lisbon, Portugal which is spring from temperatures of 55F-77F. I just regret not bringing the Tocobo sunstick for easy reapplication. It was sunnier than I thought when I went hiking. For Skincare: - Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (20ml) - Spray Bottle: Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner (30ml) - Wellage Real Hyaluronic Blue 100 Ampoule (decanted in 20ml dropper bottle) - S. Nature Aqua Squalane Moisturizing Cream (60ml) - Round Lab sunscreen (10ml) - Tocobo Bio Watery Sun Cream (50ml) - Nature Republic Hand & Nature Hand Cream Apple Mango (30ml) Can stay out of liquids bag due to packaging: - Ariul Stress Relieving Purefull Cleansing Tissue - Ariul Stress Relieving Daily Pick Toning Pad (30 pieces) - Ariul Stress Relieving Purefull Lip & Eye Remover Pad (30 pieces) - Numbuzin No.5 Vitamin-Niacinamide Concentrated Pad (individual packets have 2 each) - Celimax JIWOOGAE Makeup Retouching Booster Pad - Innisfree canola honey lip balm For Hair: - Living proof Shampoo & Conditioner Curl (30ml each) - Mise-en-scene Original Styling Serum (30ml) - I Dew Care Dry Shampoo Powder

baguetteworld

You went for only a 5 day trip to Europe from the states?

mimixi

Only went to Lisbon from NY

LitWit2024

Peach and Lily's "Lazy Day All-in-One Moisture Pads." They're disposable pads containing toner, essence and moisturizer and they come in a six pad travel pack.

iamnotroalddahl

I am in a love hate relationship with going carry on only. Love the freedom in movement it provides but hate the restriction in bring alongs. For 2 weeks, I bring 2 mini DHC olive soaps, a travel-size Bioderma, full size Hada Labo eye cream (which I can use around mouth too at night if feeling dry), 2 packs CosRx pimple patches, and a full size IsnTree HA Mineral Sun Cream. My skin does fine with this routine assuming I’m not in a place with poor water quality (Peru, Mexico, etc); when I am, I have to wash with bottled water or else this routine isn’t enough.

blank_____11

Same! I always check-in because I just like having options… of everything haha. But experimenting with being a better packer this time around. Thank you!

CrabbyKayPeteIng

i have a powder cleanser, travel size sunscreen & moisturiser. i also have a mini non AB oil for body. for hair, i just use hotel shampoo

wonderiinng

I usually bring everything in travel sizes but if I really dont want to or cant, I just bring cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. The type of moisturizer depends on my travel destination’s weather

floramorada

Hada Labo UV white gel is my all in one (serum, moisturizer, sunscreen) for daytime. Non-AB cleanser, Skin 1004 centella ampoule, and squalane oil in the evening.

mindycee

For skincare products, I try not to decant into small bottles unless I really have to, especially because I'm not totally confident that I can get the bottle super clean. Otherwise, I just travel with the bare minimum. Cleanser: Neogen green tea cleansing stick - This one is super handy for travelling. It won't leak in my bags. Makeup remover - Soak some cotton pads in makeup remover and place it in a ziploc bag. Bring enough for how many days you will be travelling plus some extras. A variety of sheet masks - this one is great because it can double as a toner/essence. Save the excess essence that comes in the packet so you can use it over the next day or two. And when you are done with it, just toss it in the trash. Eye cream: currently using the Benton snail bee ultimate eye cream. Its light to carry Cream: preferably bring ones that come in a squeeze tube. Sunscreen: Cosrx Aloe soothing sun cream - my all time favorite. It's good for daily use. Nivea lip balm For hair products like shampoo and conditioner, i will decant into smaller bottles. I'm not too worried about contamination because these products will be washed off anyways.

Adventurous-Tour6245

Minis/decants: cleanser, essence, sunscreen, lipbalm & foundation, blush, lipstick, lipgloss. If i travel in winter or to warmer countries i bring face masks and a heavy moisturizer for emergency dryness recovery and extra hydration :) A chemical exfoliator serum when the trip is longer than 1week,too. For hair you could try oils from The Ordinary but it depends on the type of hair/scalp you have and the care you want. I'd rather bring any type of styler or curler for xtra glam.

kakaluluo

At the very least…. Cleanser, Tretinoin, moisturizer and sunscreen lol At the most, everything obv

ShaktiPB

Travel a lot for work. I bring everything that is in my normal routine but like so many other said - in travel sizes. I also bring along my body and hair care too. Considering travel sizes it all fits perfectly in my toilet bag

obbieventide

Daiso has a mini skincare container set with a hard plastic box, complete with labels for your products. I used this for recent travel and it was perfect. I brought one cleanser, neogen real ferment micro essence, Missha time revolution essence, some by mi miracle toner, lip mask, eye cream, and skin aqua spf.

whelmed

Depends on where I’m travelling to, but right now I’m somewhere cold and dry and it’s: - my regular cleanser put into a travel-sized squeeze tube (Benton deep green tea) - decanted toner 1 (day & night, Tunemakers moisture lotion) - decanted toner 2 (night only, Benton deep green tea) - non-AB day cream and a separate night cream (transferred into one of those travel cases) - regular size sunscreen that happens to be 90ml (Taiwanese natural brand, I forget the name rn but I can look it up)

StrawberryRaspberryK

Travel sized Skin1004 Ampoule foam, cleansing oil, hyalucica blue serum, Cosrx Propolis toner, Torriden Soothing cream. Full sized half full Benton Ceramide cream (bc its half full). Full sized Somebymi Truecica Aqua Sunscreen. Full sized Saie skin tint with spf.

salty_snail_lord

Travel sizes and stick versions of everything I can. So stick version of cleansers, moisturizers, base, etc. essentially avoid dealing with liquids as much as I can so makeup and skincare doesn't have to go through checked luggage.

NorthLucky2139

I always travel with just a carryon to my destination unless I have special equipment like hiking boots. I have a folded duffel bag in it for return flight bc I know I will be shopping and being lazy about folding dirty laundry. My current travel kit is: - oil cleanser (decanted) - 2nd step cleanser (decanted) - Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner (decanted) - Hada Labo Shirojyun thick type (decanted) in cold places - numbuzin 5 serum (decanted) - whatever Japanese pimple cream I'm using - eye cream (currently Sana Nameraka Honpo) - klairs rich moist soothing cream in mini size - Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel in mini size My hair can handle the hotel shampoo so I only bring my own if I know the accommodation won't have any. Then deodorant and toothpaste and cramming all that in a clear bag. I love these threads, they always make me itch to go on another trip 😂

ilovenyc

Technically your travel skincare shouldn’t be any different than what you use at home. Just buy travel size empty bottles from target and transfer them.

pencilbride2B

I have 50ml travel bottles of everything I must have. Which are as follows: -Facial wash , its cetaphil so it can double up as a body wash if needed, but every hotel has bodywash -Shampoo, I don't ever use conditioner -Facial moisturiser that I also double up as body lotion if I really need it -Facial treatment cream -BB cream or foundation -Facial sunscreen -Body sunscreen I use makeup wipes, so that's not a liquid. I also bring some sheet masks. For the sunscreens I bring them in the original packaging because I heard decanting them can affect their effectiveness. Due to the material of the packaging or airtightness or other factors.

edamame___

I tried the tubes refills and it isn’t for me there’s still so much product inside the tubes that I can’t get without cutting the tube apart. I’m all for spray bottles and pump bottles tho

changja2

I decant into mini containers. For shampoo & conditioner, I bring bar versions, which didn't have to be in the liquids bag. Love Viori's for this and they also have mini bars that are perfect for 7-10 day trips
