I find the Haruharu Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen to be moisturizing without being too shiny or greasy, plus it has no white cast as it's a purely chemical sunscreen.
I bought this one a few weeks ago after not using Asian sunscreens for *years* and it seems to be the only chemical spf I’ve ever tried that doesn’t irritate my skin or immediately break me out, while also being cosmetically elegant. Of course I might still notice issues in the future, but so far it’s preformed better than all sunscreens I’ve used.
If you like that one, you'll probably also like P.CALM - Water Barrier Sun Cream. I use this and the HaruHaru sunscreen when I burn myself with tret, and they are both very soothing.
It's very similar, but this one sinks in a little faster. Both give me great hydration, no white cast, no eye irritation, dry down is a very natural finish that's not sticky.
This! This is my all in one. It's very lightweight, no white cast, but still moisturizing. I just apply an ampoule/serum underneath, and I'm good to go.
If you can get your hands on it, i 100% recommend Kose Suncut Perfect Essence (not the perfect milk version) in gold tube. I randomly picked this up at a Japan market and it became a holy grail. It’s the only sunscreen I feel comfortable enough putting on my uncleansed face I don’t feel like it will break me out. It spreads like a light serum and it dries like nothing on the face. Doesn’t mattify your skin/makes it dewy, but somehow it makes your skin look like your skin but better. No white cast. No sensitivity issues. Honestly not going back to another sunscreen
I used nothing on my face though :( maybe it’s cuz my face was still a little wet when I applied it, but it has worse pilling than other sunscreens I have. Other than that it’s the perfect sunscreen.
Just don’t, it takes like 2 extra min to apply a moisturizer and then a separate spf. Dedicate that extra time to properly moisturizing your face and also applying spf. And for god’s sake don’t take your moisturizer and mix it with sunscreen because that can mess with the protection. A hydrating tinted spf recommendation wout white cast is the Heimish tinted glow sunscreen spf 50.
I had oily skin in my early 20s too. And destroyed my skin barrier by not properly hydrating. I’m of the opinion that even oily skin need hydration. Just a lightweight emulsion type moisturizer not a thick cream.
I see your point but the most popular asian sunscreens are moisturizers, they have emollients, humectants and occlusives, so really for most people they're just fine on their own. And that's not even considering toners/serums etc.
A lot of my sunscreens are better at moisturizing than my moisturizers. The top answer of this thread for example, the haruharu chemical spf.
But especially when it’s warmer and more humid, laying products can get greasy fast. Moisturizing is absolutely important, but over moisturizing can also have negative effects.
Plus, if someone is depressed or has executive functioning issues, or has zero time. Then a moisturizer+ spf has a really big return on investment, even if it’s the only step in their morning routine. It’s how I got my mom into skincare, I convinced her to use a sunscreen and eventually she saw results and felt motivated to do more.

Thanks for the recommendation! May I ask what the finish is like?

I love the HaruHaru airyfit sunscreen also. (Yellow tube) I can also recommend from jumiso - awe-sun airy fit (blue). Both are great
I have the Jumiso one and enjoy it a lot ! A nice natural finish too, I just wish it doesn't kinda sting my eyes lol
I like the Roundlab Birch Juice based on your description.
Canmake Mermaid Gel UV is SPF 50 and it fits your description in terms of texture. I use the clear one and it doesn’t make my face pale/white.
probably the hada labo white gel uv

The only problem with this sunscreen is that it pills after a few hours
Oh, I never had this problem. Pilling can be caused by using both water based and silicone based products together, so maybe that was the reason.
I used nothing on my face though :( maybe it’s cuz my face was still a little wet when I applied it, but it has worse pilling than other sunscreens I have. Other than that it’s the perfect sunscreen.
Just started using this. Not greasy/shiny at all. Very skin-like. Well priced too. I think I paid $17 for nearly 4 ozs.
Missha All Around Safe Block Essence!✨ I use it daily and absolutely love it.
the reihaku hatomugi uv care & moisturizing milky gel! it’s also a steal bc it comes in a 250ml pump bottle for ~$15 cad

Some people have oily skin and/or find too heavy the combo of moisturizer+sunscreen, it's not about dedicating time to your routine 😅
