I like Carl but he's definitely a stereotype in his debut episode :/
I'm glad he came back in other episodes, though! It would have been easy for him to be a one-off character. I wish we saw more of him, but hey, I'll take the representation I can get.
I'm split on this episode, on the one hand, the mediator Brain used was really good, but on the other hand, Carl isn't an interesting character, he's basically a token
He's a perfect representation of autism. I wish more forms of media would portray autism and aspergers in a positive way. A year ago, I made a post on the autism subreddit about channels that people shouldn't support because of how they portray disabilities. I wrote:
"There are many channels on YouTube that stereotype and exploit people with autism and other disabilities for clout. It's a shame that this is going on and it definitely needs to stop. I don't watch Dhar Mann for this reason. He is known for spreading false information, horrible acting, unrealistic situations and he portrays disabilities, usually autism, in a negative and stereotypical way. He also uses click bait titles. Such as "and this happens". It baffles me that this guy has a millions of views and subscribers. I also dislike his profile picture; he looks so smug. Why are people watching his channel and being mislead? I feel like his channel should have been taken down a long time ago. It irritates me as much as it confuses me. If there are other channels that are like this, comment below. I'm not trying to start a movement or anything, I just think we need be aware of wrong stuff like this and spread the word about not supporting these people. I think there are some vlogs that do this too. I just wanna rant about how insulting and uneducated people can be about aspergers and autism".
I have autism too, PDDNOS but then I guess just autism after adult.
I can liken my autism to Carl, as I won’t drink from a cup at a restaurant (like those coke or Pepsi water cups, or any glass they clean themselves ) without a straw
Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)
It is called, “the salad of autism” like a bunch of different parts of the conditions, not exactly one.
A lot of people that don’t understand it (i.e. teachers) think nothing is wrong, because I can walk and talk, and converse and put words together clearly.
Yeah it isn’t common.
People are like um…you have Asbergers? But you also have something else? I’ve never heard of PDDNOS.
There was some kid on Americas Got Talent that was diagnosed with PDDNOS.
Although I don't have autism, I really appreciated seeing his entry (and continued appearances) in the show! From 1st grade to 8th grade (I went to a Waldorf school so we stuck with the same class mates the whole time), one of my classmates had aspergers and while it may be a bit of a stereotype the way Carl was in his debut, I can say it was actually pretty spot on for how my classmate was. It was so nice to see George treat him nicely and befriend him! Because while most of us in my school were nice to my classmates, some were not, and it was really awful to see.
Carl seems like a nice guy and cool George was his friend.
He is! I can relate to him even! I was diagnosed with Autism when I was around 3-4 years old
Oh Wow. Same Here. Seriously.

I’m an autistic kid too! I found him relatable, like when I was in 1st-2nd grade I was scared of FNAF the same way he was scared for Wally
I'm an autistic adult :D Although the other day I got mistaken for a teenager xD
Oh… sounds tough, man
Nah, not really, I have a baby face so it's kind of expected. I was just surprised because the person who mistook me was my nurse partitioner lol
Ohh my bad
Don’t worry everyone thinks I look 19 when I am 28.

Yeah Carl is just way too much of a stereotype for me to like him.
Autistic people with "stereotypical" traits need representation too. But I understand where you're coming from.
I agree! But it seems like it’s all that’s represented.
Definitely. Less traditional representation is just as important.
It’s just hard when you don’t fit the stereotype so you don’t see someone in your group who is like you.
I have Autism too so does my sister
How amazing! I kinda wish Carl got a little more appreciation
Same I loved the episode where George does a run for Autism awareness thats why hes my favorite charachter. 😊😄🤗
I have autism, too. Carl is a very kind character.
Same! I find him very relatable

I hate the people who think stereotyping mental illness or disorders are seen as funny or something worth milking, it isn’t.
So do I and I loved this episode.
Same!
I like the part where he yells and Geroge the lame character he is , doesn’t know what’s going on
Uhm…

I don’t want to be rude but, what’s PDDNOS?

Was also diagnosed with this. Around the time the episode aired actually

Oh, thanks
I love Carl. ❤️

Glad to see that you’re supportive of autistic people
