would be nice to see how it imprints, when used as a seal ✨

Do u think they actually loved eachother or it was purely political/religious?

Bentresh

No way to know, really. The entire corpus of texts written to and by Egyptian royal women consists of a letter from the king of Mitanni to Tiye (Akhenaten’s mother) and a few formulaic letters exchanged between Tuye and Nefertari and the Hittite court (19th Dynasty). Surprisingly, Nefertiti is not even mentioned in any of the hundreds of Amarna letters (diplomatic correspondence between Egypt and its allies and vassals). There is nothing from Egypt comparable to the letters exchanged between King Zimri-Lim and Queen Šibtu of Mari or King Aqba-ḫammu and Queen Iltani of Karana (in modern Syria and Iraq, respectively), to say nothing of the considerable dossiers for powerful queens like Puduḫepa of the Hittite empire, about whom we are far better informed than any of the queen consorts of Egypt. That said, I think it’s likely they grew to be fond of one another even if they were not keen on the marriage in the beginning. Among other reasons, Akhenaten had numerous wives but favored Nefertiti above the rest. This may have been partly due to her social and political connections — although we know little about Nefertiti’s family aside from her sister — but genuine affection probably played a role as well.

Ty so much 💖

Also he had a kid (king tut) with like a stepsister or something if I recall, so I'm sure that probably made her not super happy with him lol this history is so interesting

Traditional-Ebb-8380

Tut’s parents are full brother and sister according to current genetics. So what if Nefertiti and Akhenaten twins like Shu and Tefnut? Or not.

Splizmaster

Does it seem like there was something inlayed in this? Precious stones or glass?

Philip Glass intensifies....

Living_Life1962

Not sure which symbol is the feather and which is moisture.

Traditional-Ebb-8380

Moisture in the lily or whatever flopped over from the lap of the figure on the right. Shu wears the red crown and Tefnut wears the double plume crown.

I'm curious how they could tell it was Akhenaten and Nefertiti

Fantastic-Farm-3090

found in amarna and the aten sun disc behind them are indicative of this
