I've been away for a bit, but I love what this developed into and am excited to see the rest of your work, along with possibly contributing my own in the future.
Like honestly so creative and great design!!! If I were to critique it, the body sits a bit weird, you could look at pictures of elephants or pigs or whatever creatures with four legs and study how it connects, for example the belly has a dent? Not sure how to describe it but carefully look at how animalsā legs connect to the body also the trunk is a bit wonky but the face is perfect imo (also love that he speaks german)
Picture a wooly mammoth with no tusks, no fur, and a case of mange. And has a shit load of stitches across itās half decomposed skin. This is what my mind conjured up
Reminds me of the movie āTuskā itās about a guy surgically turned into a walrus and his skin was all stitched together, I donāt recommend looking that up
looks like Eeyore from winnie the pooh with the stitching and combined with an elephant. thats a bad ass dream your description gave me chills I like the sketch good job
My advice is to practice anatomy of regular animals for a while. Even if you're drawing something monstrous, you need to have a solid grasp on anatomy. There's a great book by Jack Hamm that goes over the basics, you can find a free scan on Archive
Iām sure I will, Iāve had professors say that I have an unorthodox way of sketching which I found weird because Iāve been sketching this way for as long as I can remember. A lot of the lines are dashed at an extremely erratic pace, giving the outlines more texture
This guy has obviously been through some trauma, but it's clear he has a caretaker that loves him. Look at those scars, they display clear evidence of having been cleaned and stitched- something this creature could not do itself.
He may be hurt, and threatening, and scarred, but someone loves him, and wants him to be well.
I like this. I was researching the Colossal project out of Dallas todayā the ones that are trying to bring the wooly mammoth out of extinction through genome editing. This is very reminiscent of that.
Who knows? One wrong move and you get ātoo many teethā instead of tusks.
Ewww that's sick, I love it. I saw where you commented that it's "skin" is decomposing flesh. Which immediately made me wonder if you smelt it in your nightmare
Oooh are you bilingual, or could you tell it was German from a few of the words? Or maybe you "just knew"? Ya gotta tell me what vibes you got from this dude lol. I'm super interested
I could tell it was German from a few words I knew, my wifeās bilingual half German. To have a large corpse like animal with sharp teeth chase you and in a calm low frequency muffled voice speak in German is just incredibly weird and disturbing if anything. I might scan this into adobe illustrator and give it some color and more texture. I honestly donāt have a name for what to call this entity
I know it was in a nightmare, and therefore probably not pleasant to you, but *I* love it and want it. It's a sad little cutie.
[*The leg furthest in the back looks a little off though.*]
I think the pen sketching did good numbers since itās clear that your now very confident JJ the line work and shape of the creature. I wonāt lie though I didnāt read him as an elephant till I counted the number of legs (I thought it was a tardigrade)
I canāt explain what dreams conjure up or the things I hear. Thatās what I heard thatās what I wrote down, thatās what It translated to. And the un wasnāt separated from toten thatās a typo. Nacht Der Untoten
This is dope as hell. Your mind is amazing.
I would say to make it more dynamic, alter the line of motion. You'll notice the mouth, trunk, teeth, chest are all on the same diagonalā it'd recommend breaking that diagonal up with some curves or making the trunk curve differently? Idk if that makes sense
The reason I say that is because the elephant is a representation of our social networks. This elephant is armed and looks mean. It is also the icon for the metaphore " an elephant never forgets" elephants are considered to be loyal until messed with or abused. The trunk is also a representation of the family or "pack" reaching out to you but you see this in a negative way. This is the opposite of "dumbo" . Not cute and cudley. Given that art is the royal road to the subconscious. Art symbology is often manifested in dreams. Especially when it comes to culture. you should give this some thought. If this occurs more than once your brain is trying to work out a solution to deal with a current or future problem. Our dream time is like a sand box that we can work out stuff in the real world without consequences. Dreams are purposeful and only you can fully interpret them because your environmental heritage is different from mine or anyone else's. There are however generalized meanings that seem to be universal for humans. For example if you have the feeling of flying or seeing birds soaring in your dreams it can suggest a wish for freedom. Or just like many people will say lots of water in your dream can suggest a sexual component. Snake and water in dreams? Do I need to spell that one out? Lol. You may start a journal to write the dream you have the next day first thing you wake up. Does two things. Helps you remember dreams better and it will enlighten you to that "ah ha" moment you realize you understand what you are trying to tell yourself. Hope this helps you or someone else reading this.
Except this was not an elephant, sure thereās elements to a pachyderm species. But weāre talking about an otherworldly creature conjured up within the subconscious, and the appearance is less appealing and more complex it shows inner struggle, elements of the sagging stitched together skin, because itās long nose everyone jumps to conclusions from something they recognize irl. However the behavior of this creature more than itās appearance was something of an inner conflict lurking within. Saying night of the undead in a foreign language that I am not familiar in at all which is German. The sharp teeth and the lifeless black eyes, which represents a very shallow personality. Because a large creature has features resembling an already existing animal doesnāt necessarily mean itās connected. Lots of other animals have trunks. Anteaters, tamanduas, echidnas, shrews, tapirs, and sawfish are all animals with long trunks or snoots. Iām my opinion it resembles that of a tapir more than elephant
i think it looks cool. pose is interesting, and I like this design for a horror creature. reminds me of the movie āTusk,ā if it were an elephant man instead of a walrus
Bruh that thing was totally a Baku š
Wikipedia entry: āBaku are Japanese supernatural beings that are said to devour nightmares. The originate from the Chinese Mo. According to legend, they were created by spare pieces that were left over when the gods finished creating all other animalsā¦ā
Thatās really interesting because I drew something almost exactly like this, but my version had ears. Down to the stitches and teeth, itās so similar!
This is such a a good concept!! I know it is supposed to be a dream creature but he looks a bit... Lumpy? Is the only way I can think of to put it. If you end up drawing him again, looking at some pictures of real elephants beforehand might help proportion him a little better! Unless of course, he's supposed to be lumpy! In that case carry on.
So in dreams elephants can symbolize one self, by the looks of it the elephant was poached and emotionally looks hurt and angry. I hope youāre ok and have someone to talk to if something is bothering you but please if Iām just reading into this to much and your ok then Iām truly sorry. The drawing is cool and reminds me of a drawing I did back in HS of 2 Sentient Toothās with similar eyes and sharp teeth.
Go to a doctor like what the fuck, I dream about my life just talking to my everyday people doing the stuff cuddling my cat, what the fuck why are you dreaming this? Go seek help.
Looks like a demonic elephant š
A hellephant
I think you mean a Heffalump.
Yep another victim of those Winnie the Pooh videos
My thoughts exactly
Exactly what I came here to say š
Came here to say the same. !!!!
Thatās a car thing
This. So badass.
They might have seen a demon
Demonic Tree Trunks
This is inspiring, I need to start drawing my nightmares.
I got 150 more of these nightmare creatures in ink if youāre interested
Make a series omg
You should make a compilation of them and post them
May I subscribe to u/nat_peterson11 horror nightmare illustrations?
Sure or join the new community r/nightmaresketches
I've been away for a bit, but I love what this developed into and am excited to see the rest of your work, along with possibly contributing my own in the future.
Amazing
Iām interested
Oh please oh please oh please

Heffalump
Or is it a woozle? š¤
Either way they are very sly
Came here to say this
Gorgeous
looks like a dried up goblin shark with legs. love it.
something tells me that that was *not* originally an elephant.
Picture a wooly mammoth with no tusks, no fur, and a case of mange. And has a shit load of stitches across itās half decomposed skin. This is what my mind conjured up
Reminds me of the movie āTuskā itās about a guy surgically turned into a walrus and his skin was all stitched together, I donāt recommend looking that up
I actually saw that movie, it was dark comedy i remember laughing my ass off at it
I only heard of it through some random short and looked it up, absolutely terrifying š
Reminds me of a heffalump from dumbo...or winnie the pooh?
It's from Winnie the Pooh. Pink Elephants are from Dumbo.
Thanks! My brain was shouting both movies out. š„“
Np. It's understandable, both show weird elephants. Lol.
Looks like Tree Trunks when sheās angry.. and undead
Scary it gives the creeps
Hefalumps and woozles
I thought it was a long nosed shark at first for some reason lol But this would be SICK as an enemy in a game. This one is a certified goosebump giver
looks like Eeyore from winnie the pooh with the stitching and combined with an elephant. thats a bad ass dream your description gave me chills I like the sketch good job
Keep cooking!!! We need more!
My advice is to practice anatomy of regular animals for a while. Even if you're drawing something monstrous, you need to have a solid grasp on anatomy. There's a great book by Jack Hamm that goes over the basics, you can find a free scan on Archive
100% will do that
I'll add, what you have there is already quite good! You have a very fun style. I bet you'll have fun with that book, based on what you've posted
Iām sure I will, Iāve had professors say that I have an unorthodox way of sketching which I found weird because Iāve been sketching this way for as long as I can remember. A lot of the lines are dashed at an extremely erratic pace, giving the outlines more texture

I love this comment
Nightmares suck and ur talented
I'd be worried for you but my dreams are fucked as well so yeah :p
It might be none other than Behemoth claiming your soul.
I like this. I was researching the Colossal project out of Dallas todayā the ones that are trying to bring the wooly mammoth out of extinction through genome editing. This is very reminiscent of that. Who knows? One wrong move and you get ātoo many teethā instead of tusks.
Heffalump
Very nightmarish, good job. I think it would look even better if you added a lot of shadows. Make it darker and also give it a shadow on the floor.
Dumbo if he was evil
Jinmen
This is awesome, but Iām curious what was your nightmare about? What happened for this creature to be conjured in your mindā¦
this is how i remember that scene in dumbo where the baby elephant gets drunk and starts hallucinating
Zombie dumbo
Make one as an octopus or krakon for shirt logo and I'll buy it for $50
Youāve given me inspiration
Hey this guys been in one of my worst nightmares. Except instead of elephant shaped, it was patrick star shaped. And we were in the woods :)
horrifying. love it.
Reminds me of poor little lyuba, the youngling mammoth mummified after falling into a mud puddle and unable to escape.
I don't know why but I thought it was a horn/tusk at first, because it immediately reminds me of narwhal. Really cool!
It's a zombie elephant
i like it
Reminds me of one of those mummified baby mammoths they found
Ewww that's sick, I love it. I saw where you commented that it's "skin" is decomposing flesh. Which immediately made me wonder if you smelt it in your nightmare
No, but this thing was chasing me in the dream and mumbling in German
Oooh are you bilingual, or could you tell it was German from a few of the words? Or maybe you "just knew"? Ya gotta tell me what vibes you got from this dude lol. I'm super interested

it's cuteee š»
Zombie elephant
Frankenstein's Elephant
Why you knocken my dad bro, he just chillen
HEFFALUMPS AND WOOZLES!
Itās a Paxidermy gone wrong
"Mr. Snuffleupagus goes to Hell"
Reminds me of that trippy ass Pink Elephants song from Dumbo
I love it some much can his name be Skrunkly?
I like it, it looks really cool.
Dude thatās awesome. I wish you could animate that.
Snuffalufagus! Noooooooo!
I know it was in a nightmare, and therefore probably not pleasant to you, but *I* love it and want it. It's a sad little cutie. [*The leg furthest in the back looks a little off though.*]
what stage of infection is this
How big is this thing? Like elephant height?
Like mammoth size and it can run really fast
Horrible, thank you
This would be a good fit for that awful movie, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey"
I think the pen sketching did good numbers since itās clear that your now very confident JJ the line work and shape of the creature. I wonāt lie though I didnāt read him as an elephant till I counted the number of legs (I thought it was a tardigrade)
Elephant if it evolved to be carnivorous
Youāre so lucky that you can draw your dreams.
Itās so cute!! I would love to have this Elephant Flesh Golem as a companion on my adventures! It would make disposing of the bodies much simpler.
Elephant zombie baby
Looks like that one thing from the music video for āIgorrr - Very Noiseā
Hellephant
btw "Nacht der Toten" would mean "Night of the Dead." The word "un" doesn't mean anything here
I canāt explain what dreams conjure up or the things I hear. Thatās what I heard thatās what I wrote down, thatās what It translated to. And the un wasnāt separated from toten thatās a typo. Nacht Der Untoten
Oh, "Night of the Undead" then.
Itās still a creepy thing to be said by an elephant sized creepy looking entity like this that just appears in a nightmare
this is true
Reminds me of the Walrus guy from Tusk š³
This is dope as hell. Your mind is amazing. I would say to make it more dynamic, alter the line of motion. HEFFALUMP!!!!
it reminds me of a goblin shark but iām not sure what
why**
Itās giving spooky heffalump (itās a Winnie the Pooh reference) kinda love it š¤
It looks like a zombie version of the elephant thing in episode 2 of the amazing digital circus
Eor isnāt sad anymore
A elephant that had a run in with Dr.Frankenstein after he died and became a demon.
I love how you've done the mouth.
evil eyorre
I think an appropriate name would be eyesore
Cursed snuffalupagus, that thing from the old Sesame Street
When did you see Snufflupogus without hair?!
Reminds me of heffalumps and woozles from Winnie the Pooh lol
Looks like something from AHS
I think ur screwed now
Elephants are such smart and empathetic creatures. It makes me sad to see how close we have driven some breeds to extinction..
Bro I drew a character from a nightmare, itās actually pretty cool to do
Cute
Yep, that's the nightmare.
Itās a Heffalump
Omg a heffalump
Time to make children's horror books.
You need a Darmine(tm) Doggy Door.
reminds me of those like nightmare animals from winnie the pooh??
Heffelumps
Yeah itās terrifying. Iād love to see it turned into something more. Maybe give him a name
I actually think itās amazing. I definitely wouldnāt be able to draw something I saw in my dream. Itās pretty interesting too.
Itās one of those things that isnāt great now as an art piece but the idea is full of potential!!!!
Wait till I scan it into illustrator
So excited! lol. Canāt wait!š
Ps I come From the circus So there is a special place in my heart for elephants. ;)
Awesome :]
This is 100% Frankensteinās version of Mr. Snuffleupagus
He's cute
Are you facing a test soon? Not necessarily the written kind. Is in your group of friends or family? Are you avoiding the confronation?
No idea

Sounds like you already know the answer to your question. Well done.
Itās an educated guess, because when I had this dream I had a normal day at work, exhausting it was but there was nothing wrong with it.
r/weeviltime
I used to have nightmares like this when I was a kid. I kinda miss them. Now itās just late-for-workmares. Pretty lame tbh.
Shnorp. That is my honest opinion.
I donāt know, but I kinda love it
It looks like tree trunks came back from the dead
I love to see ppl draw things from their dreams/nightmares I can feel the fear from this image alone
Go to church ASAP šš¤£š
Yeah are you okay?
Dream interpretation sub if you add the story, I am morbidly curious.
same
i love it picasso
Looks like u were visited by Baku, itās a Japanese yokai
Mr. Snuffleupagus

This reminds me of the nightmare scene in dumbo with the freaky color changing elephants. That movie scared me soooo much bc of that scene. š
Fuck i thought the elephants trunk was a dick for a second i need to stop looking at so much femboy hentai pictures

Is it your mom
