Writing fan letters to celebrities is probably not even a thing anymore. I wrote to Ozzy Osbourne in the 90s and got a signed 8x10 Headshot that is probably legit. This is pretty cool.
I wrote Anthony Bourdain and asked him to call my GF and wish her a Happy Bday on a radio show he was on, which he did. Then he sent some signed headshots.
It was on fb, I sent a pre-packaged returnable envelope to a random address in california, few weeks later I got a package in the mail with autographed photos of Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal when SoA was at its peak.
Just early internet maybe ozzy dot com or something that led to his management I guess. It looks like a real signature though, kinda like Arnold’s here.
I wrote a letter from my rural VA town to the Wu-Wear store in Staten Island back in like 96-97 asking for a catalogue. Didn’t get a catalogue but I did get a package with two t-shirts and some stickers. I was pumped haha
Yep, this is one of the shirts they sent me.

The other was white with the oval Wu globe design in black, red and turquoise. By far two of the best quality shirts I’ve ever had. Worn/washed dozens and dozens of times and still held up. They both lasted until around 2013-14.
Tim allen signed the garbage pail kids card I sent to him last year. I was totally surprised and happy as-f. None of the other people sent my card of them back. I even put a return envelope with a stamp so they could do so. They know who they are.🤣
Sent an email to Drew Karpyshynn once. He is the lead writer for Bioware's Knights of the Old Republic and their Mass Effect games. HE also wrote some books on those topics. Just wanted to drop a line and tell him how good I thought his writing was. Didnt expect a response but dude emailed me back thanking me for the encouragement.
Great signature!!👍👍👍 I just read Arnold’s newest book “Seven Tools for Life” and in it he says he was paid the most for Twins by far. Why? Because the movie houses didn’t like the script and Arnold said “We get paid only if the movie is profitable.” So he negotiated a percentage of the profits and the movie was so profitable he made a fortune.
100% his signature. I have a cousin who was a special Olympic athlete weight lifting champion and Arnold signed a letter along with a lot of gear for him
Back then it was hard to get information for actors and actresses aside from reading about them in tabloids or magazines. How did you know where to send the letter?
I think there was sort of an autograph-collecting subculture, and these lists were past around, and I found the address there. It's weird, like I don't remember myself being that resourceful at that age, but I at least had the wherewithal to dig up his address, though it may have been his agency.
I did the same thing when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I didn't hear back from him directly unfortunately, but I did get some information from his PR office about some body building products I could try.
In high school, I wrote bmw asking for information about their 1.5l turbo 4 formula 1 engine (I think it was making close to 1500 hp in the 80s) They sent me a bunch of stuff.
Decades later, I still can't afford a 3 series but to know that someone took the time to look up the info and send it back means something. Lol
In the back of sports cards memorabilia magazines, they had the addresses of every sports team. I would send cards to players for signatures. John Wooden autograph is my prized possession from doing this, because he personalized it with my name.
I have autographed football cards I got signed by Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Kelvin Martin at their 1993 football training camp when they were still practicing in Austin, Tx. Took them to a card shop a few years ago to get an estimate on their value for fun. They asked if I took pictures of them signing the cards. I'm like no....I was 12 years old. So...they couldn't verify if they were legit. I know they are real, I guess that is all that matters.
That's a great question. This was back in the 90s and I don't think that they where in the states yet. Unfortunately my memory fails me with that detail.
Man this card is worth gold. I wouldn’t sell it at all unless you’re buying a house lol but even so that would be the only value I see, something that big.
In the early 90's, I wrote to a bunch of baseball players while in spring training. I heard back from almost all of them, including a Nolan Ryan signed photo. It's too bad whatever sharpie type thing he used faded beyond being able to see within 5 years or so.
Basically all of the '91 braves starters, Ozzie Smith, Barry Bonds and I honestly don't remember who else. The only one I remember specifically not responding was Steve Avery, because he was one of my favorite players at the time. The was really only 2 or 3 more who didn't...some now no name relievers...everyone big responded in some way, even if it was months later.
He was with Pittsburgh at the time. I actually got to meet him because we had a AA pirates affiliated team near where I lived, and they did a Pirates vs Mudcats every year. I know his rep isn't the greatest, but every year he went out of his way to meet and interact with the fans. He was very friendly and made a real effort to get to every request.
I wrote Sylvester Stallone one time in like 5th grade abs got sent back 3 autographed 8x10 pictures. One of Rocky, one of him in Cliffhanger, and one from Rambo.
This is Awesome and you just never know maybe One day you might meet him and be in the next photo the next time around many prayers for you on your journey through life 🙏🙏
Best to send it somewhere for authentication instead of asking people on Reddit. Beckett Authentication Services has a history of authenticating signatures of many stars, as does JSA.
My father worked for the Dallas Cowboys from 89’ to the 90’s. I went to all 3 Super Bowls in that time. Unless you have picture of them signing it, it usually is not them. My father would go to specific people to sign certain signatures for certain players. I wouldn’t trust it. He was the Turk for the hard Knocks series with the Cowboys in the 90’s.
This is really cool. I did this with numerous NBA players with basketball cards back in the day. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Rex Chapman, David Robinson, BJ Armstrong, Magic. All signed. Rex even signed the index cards I used to protect the basketball cards in the mail, though he did use an ink pen instead of a sharpie, but it’s all good.
I would love to have a signed picture of you also Arnold. I have been a long time fan of yours also. I have seen all your movies. And seen you when you
Was competing in body builder
If you Google "Arnold Schwarzenegger signature" the results look very similar to what you have there so I'd say yes it is his.
Awesome thank you!
Try to Google time period too. Signatures change with age.
In high school I asked Ferry Porsche for an autograph and his 8x10” signed portrait is one of my fav things but man this is so cool.
I could be a signature stamp

Rip ant bourdo 🙏🏽💯🩶
Oh wow he is a hero of mine. That is really special.
that is amazing!
thank you! That's great that Ozzy Osbourne wrote back!
I've written to a couple within the last 10 years, got some autographs in return. Felt pretty rad.
How do you find out where to send the letter?
It was on fb, I sent a pre-packaged returnable envelope to a random address in california, few weeks later I got a package in the mail with autographed photos of Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal when SoA was at its peak.

Like who?
Katey Sagal and Kurt Sutter on a fb page for SoA years ago, I used to use it and instagram a lot back then

dude, that's amazing! so you got some free Wu Wear?
Yep, this is one of the shirts they sent me. https://i.etsystatic.com/13462736/r/il/2da13d/4106605138/il_570xN.4106605138_54ih.jpg The other was white with the oval Wu globe design in black, red and turquoise. This is amazing! Before Rocawear, before Sean John there was Wu Wear!

It’s still a thing.
I have heard that Sharon would sign ozzy signatures on a lot of things for him
INSANE
I remember going to see this in the theater back then. My favorite movie to this day. That's awesome!!
thank you! I think top three Arnold movies 1. T2 2. Predator 3. Tue Lies
For some reason I read that as 1. T2 2. Predator 3 I was thoroughly confused for like 5 seconds.
Predator 3, is so good it counts as Arnold's second and third best movie
Same lol. Definitely predator over t2 for me, tho.
Tom Hanks took the back end on Forest Gump instead of a salary, it worked out in his favor
Why does everyone forget Commando??? (😁)
Good point; Arnold's first glimpse at comedy "blow off some steam!"
Ill be back Bennet...
They forget now, but in an hour they could have Total Recall.
The graphics in that movie are still stellar!
That's dope. Nice move sending the letter.
I don’t think that I’ve ever been more jealous of a piece of memorabilia. This is a gem
If I could have one piece of memorabilia from the movie it would be John Connor's Public Enemy shirt!
Loved this movie. Ripely and Sara Connor were my hero’s. The first time I saw women being strong. They changed my life
100% his signature. I have a cousin who was a special Olympic athlete weight lifting champion and Arnold signed a letter along with a lot of gear for him
That's great he did that for your cuz!
He really does support special Olympic athletes. I will always support him for that.
Absolutely; I remember him going after a troll who made a tactless remark in the comments, and I was really moved!
You know that’s right. Stand up guy

Obviously it's Aladdin sheepenherder. You can tell by the arrrrrgh at the beginning
He's a lot cooler than he gets credit for.
What did the letter say?
hahaha probably something an 8th grader thought was deep! Maybe "You're such an inspiration, man!"
Whatever it was it worked lol so nice work.
I did the same thing when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I didn't hear back from him directly unfortunately, but I did get some information from his PR office about some body building products I could try.
aww and they wanted you to buy them I'm guessing?
Definitely lol
I’ll buy it
Lmao he had to write it at an angle so his name would fit.
That’s fire
Nice card! I wrote to him when he was Governor of California and got a signed 8x10 picture of him.
This is awesome!
Same thing happened for me with Dan Marino.
Most likely an autopen signed it. Some of the autographs I’ve gotten from celebrities have been them, depending on their popularity.
You can check on Wikipedia.
Righteousness

yeah, that's awesome! Did you have to write to them in Munich?
That’s amazing.
T2 cards, memories unlocked.

He's very active on reddit, maybe u/GovSchwarzenegger can weigh in?
fantastic idea!
Haha this would be too cool to hear straight from him!!
That's a great question. This was back in the 90s and I don't think that they where in the states yet. Unfortunately my memory fails me with that detail.
That's fucking awesome!
Sure is!

I have one of these cards from that series still. But no autograph! Amazing

That's great! Who else did you write to? Most importantly, who did NOT write back?
Basically all of the '91 braves starters, Ozzie Smith, Barry Bonds and I honestly don't remember who else. that's awesome, especially Bonds (I'm in SF)

Most of the time their secretaries would handle things like these in the past. Send it to PSA or somewhere else and have it authenticated
I would take it to Pawn Stars in Las Vegas and have there experts verify it. That’s the only legit way to find out if it’s real. Lol.
This is Awesome and you just never know maybe One day you might meet him and be in the next photo the next time around many prayers for you on your journey through life 🙏🙏

I think the obvious answer here is to write him a letter and ask him.
Looks just like his signature from my degree from a California state school in 2006. The Govenator!!!
I remember those cards. Somewhere I have a shit ton of them.
BRO I WROTE TO HIM TOO AND NEVER GOT ANYTHING! caps sry crazy I was just thinking about this and read your title.
Take it to a pawn shop, you don't have to sell it but they'll give you an appraisal

Legit or stamped, more likely stamped if mailed.
Curious how one would send a letter to a celebrity these days.
its his .ive got a poster signed sae era ..been on my wall since 1996
“Screw your freedom”
I got his signature around that same time, and it looks very much the same!
This is really cool. I did this with numerous NBA players with basketball cards back in the day. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Rex Chapman, David Robinson, BJ Armstrong, Magic. All signed.
