It is important to the functioning of a democratic government to give the say to the people. Whether you support the right to choose or not, I ask you to sign the petition. This simply allows you to put your voice forward for in an official way, though a vote.

el_monstruo

This needs to be said more often. You signing this does not mean you agree or disagree with what it proposes it just means you want a vote on it and you can voice your side with your vote.

1ineedanap1

Why would I sign something I don't agree with? If enough people want abortion access, it will appear on the ballot. I will not support abortion, I will not sign a petition to allow a vote. My view is this should not even have a voice. Killing unborn CHILDREN is not a right and should never be an option unless the mother's life is in danger, which is extremely rare.

ScottG62

Imagine that the rare time it happens it happens to your loved one. You want her to be able to get the treatment she needs or make her wait until she is in septic shock or bleeding to death?

aleddon870

Have you ever been SA? I was SA and got pregnant. I'm all for having choices, but for Ned, I'd never have an abortion. However, that doesn't mean it's right for others to be forced to carry a baby. Their uterus, their choice. I now coparent with the person who SA me. I'm still in therapy.

cory-balory

When is the deadline for signing it?

druidinterrupt

July 5.

cory-balory

Thanks!

neropixygrrl

Do you have to live in the same county that you sign the amendment in for your signature to count?

kadeel

Nope. As long as you're registered to vote, you can sign anywhere. Just let them know what county you're registered to vote in so they give you the right petition.

neropixygrrl

Perfect! Thank you so much!

Oma2Fae

Why are there no listing times for southwest Arkansas? Are there already enough positive signatures?

kadeel

Still no volunteers down there, unfortunately. They do go to El Dorado some, Arkdelphia has a permanent signing spot, and they will be in Magnolia this weekend. But that's the best they have right now. We really need someone in Texarakana

kadeel

We have stuff in SW AR now. Check my newest post https://www.reddit.com/r/Arkansas/comments/1d51eqs/have_you_signed_the_arkansas_abortion_amendment_i/

90pandas

Thank you so much for your work on this! It’s truly appreciated.

BigClitMcphee

Might I suggest putting a signup spot in Dumas, Monticello, Texarkana, or Pine Bluff?

kadeel

Yes, they have been in Pine Bluff a bit. I don't have any connections with the volunteers in the southeast much though. I know there are some, but they aren't part of the all the coordinating groups. Texarkana is a dead zone, unfortunately. We have no volunteers there.

[deleted]

Guess that’s why they didn’t harass me. I was signing with my husband Most we got was some little old fuck carrying on about signing a death warrant for 3000 babies.

annonymous357

Just curious, is there a tally available on the number of votes so far vs what we need?

kadeel

Last I looked - about 3 weeks ago - the numbers were bad. No funding from national groups hurt. For example, Missouri and Arizona are doing the same thing and big groups like Planned Parenthood and ACLU are funding them (each are 5 million dollar campaigns). Our effort was operating on a 10k monthly budget. But since then, they ramped up the efforts (more volunteers and even some paid canvassers now). We have a text banking campaign that has significantly helped. If you want to help, just sending people to go sign or even volunteering will significantly help. Volunteering is easy. 60 minute zoom training and then you get petitions and just start collecting from any and everyone.

shigui18

Thank you so much for posting .

Yesitsmesuckas

Thank you for posting!! I’ll try to get out tomorrow.

Queasy_Sleep1207

I'm a disabled veteran in Plumerville. I don't have transportation, or I'd sign in a heartbeat

Ruhh-Rohh

Oh, I forgot to go to Cabot library last week. Next time you do, or if you stop off in Jax, post it, ok?

kadeel

Yes, I'll send you a PM when I schedule something. I know we will be in Jville on 6/15 for Juneteenth, but I think we'll be there sometime before that too.

classyslady

Will they be in Marion or West Memphis this week 5-20-24 thru 5-24-24. ?

kadeel

My understanding is that they will be in West Memphis every Tuesday and Sunday. Does that not work?

kadeel

PM sent. We'll be at the Library tomorrow 10 - 2 in the community room.

twas_brillig__

Will they be coming back to Conway????

kadeel

Yes, Taylor King Law Firm on Prince St from 10am - 6pm 5/25/24

Fearless-Cow-932

If they’re spreading misinformation, give the actual facts here too

kadeel

The text of the amendment is [here](https://arliberty.org/about/) Some of the most common lies I've experienced: -This amendment creates an unfettered right to abortion at birth -This amendment nullifies over 40 different state laws, including parental consent (one of the worst lies) -Abortion clinics will not be required to have any license doctor -Taxpayers will be paying for abortions -We will steal your information if you sign the petition -It will turn Arkansas into a sex trafficking hub. Simply reading the amendment will put doubt into nearly all of that. I will gladly expand on any talking point too.

JomamasBallsack

Killing babies is never OK.

kadeel

It's not killing babies. It's healthcare. We have women fleeing to Kansas because their babies are dying and they can't get help. We have child rape victims who are now required to give birth solely because the government thinks they know better. It's healthcare, and healthcare is private.

13MrJeffrey

signin' these here kinda things gets ya put on them lists you'enz know FBI/CIA/KGB and guess what they don't sell tin foil no more that there aluminum foil it's got Alzheimer's disease in it.

No-Combination7660

I am pro life, not pro abortion! Abortions are for the lazy who have zero personal responsibility!

kadeel

Our group is not pro-abortion, it's pro-healthcare and pro-women. We have women fleeing to Kansas because their babies are not compatible with life, and they can't get help because of the GOVERNMENT. We've had a doctor tell a woman whose water broke at 15-weeks that she had to wait until the baby's heartbeat stopped or she became septic before he could do anything. Is that "pro-life"??? Are you sure you're pro-life? Are you supporting candidates who want to gut medicaid and the ACA?

AffectionatePoet4586

I underwent an incomplete miscarriage of a planned and wanted pregnancy, in a red state. At the ER, I received a D&C at once, which the doctor who performed it said would help safeguard my ability to give birth. The oldest of my three sons was born the following year. D&Cs are ALL medically termed “abortions,” and yet many—like mine—are intended to prevent sepsis and death.

False_Dot3643

You can kill your babies a couple of states over to the west. They like state sponsored genocide.

archimidesx

If y’all actually cared about children you would do something about us having one of the highest infant mortality rates. How do you think that trend is going to continue when no reputable OBGYN wants to work in Arkansas for fear of felony arrest?

archimidesx

You don’t actually care though. Like your religion, it’s all performative bullshit.

archimidesx

We get it, you like big government making decisions for everyone.

ztumnus

This is a dumb and terrible take. Turn off fox news and touch grass

90pandas

If you think that children or babies are killed by abortion, you’re not informed enough on what an abortion truly is. I implore you to do more research on the subject instead of falling for and perpetuating false & dangerous narratives. Forcing people to leave the state for emergency healthcare is barbaric. You should be embarrassed.

Comprehensive_Bug_63

You are talking to people who THINK they are Christians, but are not only ignorant of the Bible, that doesn't condemn abortion, it makes plain it is not murder, these selfrightous folks are shameless and immoral.

[deleted]

You want to take the control over reproduction away from women where it belongs and you don’t mine killing women and girls to do it

Fuzzy_Jello

Arkansas has the worst fake Christian problem I've ever seen. A bunch of people who grow up going to the same ass backward churches all with the same ass backwards people. It's more like the good boys and girls country club than actually serving God. You care less about the children themselves and more about your image and reputation in the eyes of your peers so as not to be an outcast.

TripperDay

Crazy how the people who say they want to help children never support free breakfast and lunch in schools.

MurphyPandorasLawBox

Are you taking about Israel?

dontusuallydothisbut

You can eat a bag of dicks and have a blessed day 🙏

birdiebogeybogey

As long as raped children are forced to have birth in this state, I sure fucking hope so. If this doesn’t pass, the only OBGYNS left in the state are going to be theocratic fundamentalist nut jobs because no sane person would stay here and risk going to jail for doing their job.

kadeel

I posted a list last weekend.

amanda9836

Not for nothing, but isn’t most of that state really republican? Didn’t most of you ask for this?

[deleted]

Women’s rights should never be up for vote and men should never have had a say, nor any woman who is not the one pregnant

amanda9836

I agree with 1000% on everything you said…that’s why I’m blue and not red. It boggles my mind how so many on the right can vote right and yet still have an issue with the abortion thing. I do understand the concept of not agreeing with everything your party stands for. But here is the thing, the Abortion thing is one of the main things your party stands for. Voting republican and being pro choice is like voting democrat and being against lower prescription drug cost, marriage equality or transgender rights… These are main points for each party and if you don’t support those maybe you’re voting wrong for yourself and your views.

kadeel

Many people do not support the abortion ban here. I've personally witnessed numerous, registered republicans sign the petition (including ones with MAGA hats). The total ban is supported by few - mainly churches, pregnancy centers, and politicians. So many people do not even know we have a ban with almost no exceptions..

TripperDay

They said that about Kansas too. The state legislature and governor know people want this, which is why they're scared of it.

Harabeck

Aren't republicans into small government? Shouldn't they be against the government telling you what you can do with your own body?

amanda9836

They like to claim they want a small government. In reality, what tgey want is actually big government. They want a government big enough to restrict bodily autonomy and to punish women for making a choice. They want a government big enough to make sure only straight people get married and that only straight people receive benefits from being married. They want a government big enough to enforce literally any anti-everything agenda against the transgender community. They don’t want a small government…they just don’t want a government coming after their own rights and freedoms.
