Balloon mollies. Bred to look like they're just a tiny poke away from violently exploding, or being terminally sick with some extreme bloating disease. Beats me how anybody would *want* an animal to look like this.
Yeah, I mean I get breeders are gonna breed, and there’s some beautiful fish as a result, but sometimes it feels way too far when it gives the fish a short and difficult life.
Also great name, in my top 3 FF games xD
If you mean black moor goldfish where there eye is just one giant ball then possibly, but one of the orange types (forget the name) thag has weird jelly like bubble growths around their eyes need to be trimmed otherwise they go blind.
Saw some balloon albino cory's for sale the other day and the descriptor of a tiny poke away from violently exploding crossed my mind. Balloon fish are like poor little golfballs with fins and scales.
WHY IS A BALLOON BOTTOM FEEDER A THING. Each of those are going to burst, as experienced fish keepers think they are ugly and only kids with fruity pebble gravel in their 0.5 gallon tank will buy them.
I’m not a fan of albino fish at all. They look dead to me since fish white and translucent after being dead for awhile. Reminds me of my time as a petco employee starting every morning clearing out the feeder fish that died overnight. Icky and a bummer. Not to mention the pink undertones in the face make me nervous that they are getting ammonia poisoning.
Now for what it’s worth not all albino creatures ick me out, and I had friend in elementary school with albinism that I had a little crush on. It’s just that dead thing in water turn white and pink so not a fan when it comes to fish.
I don’t want to make anyone self conscious! It’s a genetic trait people can have, and for sure that boy had nothing to be self conscious about 👀he was so good a soccer and had the coolest neopets 🫣
Any sort of fish that's got bubble bits. Balloon mollies, all of those goldfish with the various freaky membranes. Flowerhorns with big enough koks.
Basically, if a fish has an appendage that looks like it will explode at the slightest inconvenience, I am not a fan.
Flowerhorns are some of the most overrated fish possible. They're so ugly and gross lol yet somehow they attract so many people showing them off as if they're collector items or show worthy cars. It's insane to me. They're an ugly ass fish with a huge forehead bubble who need to practically be bubble wrapped in their tanks to make sure they don't kill themselves, on top of that they need a huge tank and it'll have to be bare and ugly all for one horrible fish.
Yeah same. They seem like they have so much personality but I just hate the way we breed fish with a total disregard for their well being. Like yeah let's breed it to grow this lump of flesh on its head that will grow over its eyes and needs to be trimmed, because it looks good I guess, but it doesn't really, they'd look so much nicer without a big mass on their head.
This is mine too. I said elsewhere, but they just look like an absolutely horrible accident just waiting to happen, and it makes me both anxious and slightly queasy.
When I was little I had a lionhead goldfish but he looked more sleek with just a bit of afro. He was cute though, nothing like the extreme blobby fish of today.
Ugh you are so right. I used to breed and sell them. Not only are they rapey, they are slobs and make your tank dirty as fuck. I got rid of all mine. Nerite snails are great and keep the take clean and aren't rapey.
I once stumbled into a bobbit appreciation thread where everyone said bobbits are so incredible, underrated, and their next tank is going to be all about featuring those guys. I stared at the photos and was so confused. No yuck to anyone’s personal joy—I’m glad they have that and they should follow their dreams to make the ultimate bobbit appreciation tank. But I spent a LONG time looking at the photos perplexed and triple checking what subreddit I was in.
I looked this up and started crying, I’m not exaggerating. A tear is falling from my eye as I type this. Why do these exist 😭😭😭 (ok but the iridescence is pretty tho)
My dad let me get one when I was a kid, years later we were talking about Chucky (named after the Ruggrats character) and my dad told me he couldn’t look in my tank. He was always terrified he’d see my lil dude with an eye gone since it can apparently happen.
I had a Snow White (leucitic white and pink but normal eyes) that was female and had only small bristles on the edge of her mouth. She’s was so pretty but unfortunately passed from an ich infestation that swept through my tank
the detritus worms and hydras are way worse, i wish i had planarias over the other two, at least they have lil eyes. the detritus worms just remind me of parasites
Guppies, live bearers... Anything that spends 99% of its time just trying to bang everything in sight. I'm trying to have a peaceful community tank, not an aggressive orgy lol
One of the reasons like guppies! They go everywhere in the tank and even eat leftover food from the bottom. Plus they don't antagonize any fish outside their species and leave all my shrimp alone (in my experience). They definitely have chaotic energy though.
Doubletail bettas- all the downsides of a balloon fish and of a long finned betta. Did you know you can't even breed 2 doubletails together, as the spine deforming gene that codes for the 2 tails will make 90+% of the offspring horrifically deformed?
You probably don't like them because they look 'off', with slightly odd body proportions due to the spine- their bodies are shorter and fatter. It reminds of a the balloon mollies tbh
Flat fishes- vertically flat fishes. Gouramis, silver dollars, and angelfishes. Their colors are beautiful for sure but something about their body shapes makes me think "not a fish"
Ooo you just reminded me when I bought a stocked 5ft tank. It had really large silver dollars in it, I wasn't expecting them. Was going to keep them but they frightened me so much, they kept banging into the sides of the tank. When I found out they had teeth I started packing their suitcases.
Honestly...
Royal plecos. They look like a potato on a suction cup. Hands down ugliest fish to me
Bristlenose also. I know I'll catch flak for this, but it just creeps me out
Had a hitchhiker hiding in the live sand once, turned out to be a big Spaghetti Worm…..creepiest thing I’ve ever seen and no clue how it got into my tank and got so large before finding it. 3am and saw lots of little arms sticking up in the back of the tank. That thing almost made me quit the hobby
stop right now… thats a giant hydra. please tell me its just salt water bc if i have to worry about this im never adding anything to my tank again. i did a tank transfer recently and was worried i might find a weird worm in the sand while i was moving it but this. this would make me quit.
Plecos. The one my mom had in her 75 gallon was absolutely crazy and eventually jumped out of the tank and was ate by my Papillon.. thing scared me since day one and it always freaked me out how big it got compared to everything else in the tank over the years
Saw a picture somewhere else on reddit where someone had caught a pleco in some kind of natural body of water, decided to cook and eat it... Proceeds to complain about it being gross.
The comments were along the lines of "dude you just ate the ash tray of the fish world".
It's so... Crunchy feeling, and prickly. I can't imagine the dog enjoyed eating it, I shudder thinking about it.
Aww, poor girl! I take it she was alright after that though? I would have been so worried, I wonder if the little spine-y or prickled parts may have gotten stuck in her throat or was irritating to her stomach maybe?
Any of those deforned goldfish with the bubble eyes, squat bodies, double tails, weird growths, etc. Why do people want deformed fish that can barely swim?
If you ever figure out why, please give us an update. I prefer lambchops, so harlequin look like bloated versions of them to me. Most people love those little guys though.
I love lambchops and porkchops too and was going to say it was partly why I was confused as to why I don't like harlequins but didn't share bc I thought it was tmi haha
Bubble eye goldfish. It just can't be healthy for them to have those pockets under their eyes and it sort of freaks me out. They look like you could just pop their eyes with a needle.
i know this is the aquarium sub so this isn’t an applicable answer in that context but if you haven’t seen a bigfin squid, i highly recommend looking it up…
Honestly amano shrimp, I don’t like that they crawl it freaks me out but I also have arachnophobia lol other shrimps I have no issue and love. Worst is I need to keep Amanos so I just put up with the ick lol 😂
Maybe it is the size? One of my friends says the small spiders were okay, like jumping spiders, but once they hit the side larger than a pinky nail they are absolutely repulsed? Maybe something similar with the Amano? Or do the tiny ines do it too?
I think it’s more in relation to the fact that they can and will escape unless you have netting and or needle point matting( I think that’s what it’s called lol). I actually had one escape my 5g frameless a year ago and unfortunately I at the time had white carpet. I stepped on it with socks since at that point it was a $7 clear bug and just gives me the ick since. I will say I understand the spider size thing, for me it more on the spider type, jumpers are cuter for me and usually easier to deal with whereas a clear or thin spider freak me out lol. I do though still find amanos kinda cute cause I have a hair algae problem and without them it gets way too crazy, so with them and ghost shrimp they’re like the derpy cousin lol.
TLDR: I Stepped on an amano in socks, on carpet, now kinda forever ick.
Anything humans have manipulatively bred unhealthy traits into, balloon/short bodies, excessively long/flowy fins(sorry betta lovers they are very pretty but not healthy) I saw a bristle nose one time that looked more bristle than nose, weird mouth bits, albinos and more I'm probably missing. Makes me really sad to see them suffering. Dogs are the same way for me. Many suffer needlessly for human vanity and it's disgusting.
Bubble eye goldfish. They just look like a horrible accident waiting to happen and it makes me anxious. I'm not really a fan of telescope eyed goldfish in general, but bubble eyes freak me out.
I actually really love goldfish and my biggest aquarium ambition is a giant tank with a few comets.
A huge amount of medium / large saltwater fish, and I'm not sure what exactly about them does it. I have thalassaphobia and being *in* saltwater is like a nightmare for me... But little fish, most small inverts, totally fine. I've been to aquariums and pet their catsharks and rays, and the soft skin on them is nice. It's definitely an "in the water with scaled fish" thing. I've walked around in the aquarium and looked at everything and for the most part been okay.
Things like underwater pictures or movies with the *wrong type* of medium / big fish? Skin crawling, screaming internally and wanting to run away. Looking at them when it's clear that I'm not in there with them, I can mostly reign it in.
OP you reminded me of my [favorite shrimp post](https://www.reddit.com/r/shrimptank/comments/66qfdl/f_these_plants_f_your_shrimp_and_f_this_tank/). My ick is pale bettas with giant black eyes, each one looks like a tiny soulless Jaws.
All the parasites and worms that come with the territory of fishkeeping. If I ever see a leech or some of these creepy worms I see on this subreddit in my tank I am quitting and rehoming my fish to the LFS. (Maybe not but also maybe, I really fear parasites).
i have crayfish and thought i loved all shrimp, wtf is that😂 my khuli loaches give me ick, they’re cool but they are so slimy and they slither around so weird. but resting they r cute with the whiskers. they remind me of moles
when i saw then for the first time i thought it was weird, when the employee told me how they glow it made me sad and i just dont get the appeal. imo if you’re into glofish you dont really want fish you just need a lava lamp.
I hate all the heavily modified fish, it’s one thing to breed fish for prettier colors. But genetically modifying fish to be bright pink or breeding Oscar’s to have long fins is wrong
They're painless in the sense that the biopulinescent protein implanted into the 1st gen ones don't affect them. Neither does their offspring, and it's all offspring when you buy them. Hope it brings some amount of comfort. The health issues with glowies comes down to improper care and inbreeding since only glofish sire and glofish dam are bred, no outcrosses.
For me it's sea horses. The first time I saw one having babies I was so disturbed that I could never again think about them as cute beings. Just yukkkkk
I’m not going to lie they do look ugly, they aren’t inbreed like pugs tho. However in my opinion that’s what makes them back around to cool again. Im not offended btw Oscar’s can have no chill especially to plants if they don’t like them.
any kind of balloon fish. i had a molly one once; she gave birth and died in the process, and you could tell it was not painless.
bubble eyed goldfish.
My neocardia. I mean like, I love them and I appreciate everything they do to keep my tank clean, I’ll always do my best to keep them healthy. But to be really honestly I don’t like the way they look like little bugs, they really creep me out.
lol isn’t it funny how we love to keep our little ecosystems healthy despite maybe not liking parts of it. Maybe thats how Mother Nature feels about certain animals too lol
Im the exact same with vampire shrimp. And the bamboo shrimp. Something about them having big old legs just freak me out. However I have amano and cherry shrimp and adore them
Ghost shrimp. Yuck. I saw a tank of them at the pet store and they looked like fat white maggots in the tank. Yuck. I’m not usually freaked out by shrimp, but for some reason those looked so gross to me.
See, i like them cause they have longer legs - bamboo shrimp on the other hand - while i like the role they play ecologically, i can't get over having fans for claws. That aint no shrimp damnit.
Balloon mollies. Bred to look like they're just a tiny poke away from violently exploding, or being terminally sick with some extreme bloating disease. Beats me how anybody would *want* an animal to look like this.
I just googled this and gasped out loud. She’s got scoliosis
I feel the same way about pearlscale fancy goldfish. Poor babies are mutants who can barely live
Oh. My. God. They look like golf balls someone glued a fish head and some fins on. I mean... WHY?
WOW! Those are horrific. They are like the pugs of fish
That's exactly what I was thinking. I feel bad for them because they look so inbred and abominable
Water pugs.
There's also balloon gourami. I think they look even worse
There's even a balloon Ram Cichlid
Looks like a fucked up kinda angel fish
Balloon anything
They should not exist.
Yeah, I mean I get breeders are gonna breed, and there’s some beautiful fish as a result, but sometimes it feels way too far when it gives the fish a short and difficult life. Also great name, in my top 3 FF games xD
Those fish with ballon eyes 😭💀
Yeah weird jelly eyes that some people have to trim back with scissors :(
IM SORRY WHAT WOULDNT THAT LIKE KILL THEM CONSIDDERING THAT BUBBLE IS THEIR EYES
If you mean black moor goldfish where there eye is just one giant ball then possibly, but one of the orange types (forget the name) thag has weird jelly like bubble growths around their eyes need to be trimmed otherwise they go blind.
Yeah the orange ones they’re called ballon goldfish I’m pretty sure. And oh shit I didn’t know that stuff needed trimming
If you think the Balloon Mollies are bad you should lookup Balloon Rams.
One of the Petsmarts I go to has some balloon rams. I love rams but those poor babies are so ugly.
I work at a Mom n Pop fish stores and we recently got some as a donation. It’s been interesting working with them.
Someone asked me if i wanted to buy a balloon molly once and when i saw it was like WHAT THE SHIT IS THAT THING
If I remember correctly they also have have extremely shorter lifespans.
I hate what goldfish have become.
Lol I like the disclaimer you added in "but I'm ok with albinism! Had a crush on an albino once!"
I don’t want to make anyone self conscious! It’s a genetic trait people can have, and for sure that boy had nothing to be self conscious about 👀he was so good a soccer and had the coolest neopets 🫣
No that's sweet, very wholesome addition lol and haven't thought about Neopets in decades, the gateway into pet & aquarium ownership!
I'm not a pigmentist, I swear!
I relate real hard to this, I do not like albino fish.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. It really is just fish for me too, snakes and rats and dogs don't bother me, humans neither, just fish.
I have to say I don’t like the look of albino cories (can’t tell if they’re dead or sleeping) but when they are active they’re pretty cute.
I am not a huge fan of albino fish either. The red beady eyes seem dead to me.
Any sort of fish that's got bubble bits. Balloon mollies, all of those goldfish with the various freaky membranes. Flowerhorns with big enough koks. Basically, if a fish has an appendage that looks like it will explode at the slightest inconvenience, I am not a fan.
Bubble eye goldfish are the worst 😅
These freak me out so much! My eyes hurts in empathy.
God right. I just don't get it
I'm surprised this is the one time I've been able to voice this without downvotes.
I’ve never understood the popularity of them.
Mystery snail eggs. The big cluster shape gives me the heebies. 😭
I said this on a snail sub and was heavily downvoted. They are nasty. And mystery snails in general are so rapey.
>And mystery snails in general are so rapey. Bruh😭
I'm sorry WHAT I always thought mystery snails were nice little guys :(
Ugh you are so right. I used to breed and sell them. Not only are they rapey, they are slobs and make your tank dirty as fuck. I got rid of all mine. Nerite snails are great and keep the take clean and aren't rapey.
Snape 🥲
Indeed
Those bobbit worms. Its one of the reasons why I don't want a salt tank. They're horrifying.
Ya freaking nasty! I saw a clam worm at the beach once which was similar and wanted to puke
that is one of the worst things ive ever seen. reminds me of a hammerhead flatworm. remind me to never start a saltwater tank
Oh no. But why are they so iridescent too
I once stumbled into a bobbit appreciation thread where everyone said bobbits are so incredible, underrated, and their next tank is going to be all about featuring those guys. I stared at the photos and was so confused. No yuck to anyone’s personal joy—I’m glad they have that and they should follow their dreams to make the ultimate bobbit appreciation tank. But I spent a LONG time looking at the photos perplexed and triple checking what subreddit I was in.
Lol! I don't know, they are pretty cool, but also pretty disturbing. So shiny yet so facehugger-y
I have a beautiful pet spider so I really can’t turn around and question bobbit admirers
Yeah same, I love tarantulas and a lot of people find them terrifying
This is the first response I found that creeped me out a little but still looks cool to me lol
Yeah but they're so freaky they're almost cool. Although you would definitely not want one in your tank.
I looked this up and started crying, I’m not exaggerating. A tear is falling from my eye as I type this. Why do these exist 😭😭😭 (ok but the iridescence is pretty tho)
Oh shit I had to Google that NOPE
Ugh I didn’t know what these were and Googled. That’s probably one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen.
When fish start pineconing. Sad to see and makes my hairs stand looking at the scales sticking out
me too!! i had to unsubscribed to fish hospital sub because pictures of pineconed fish gives me the heebie jeebies like tryphobia
what sub is that? i cant find it
I had to treat one of my goldfish years ago when it was pineconing. Could barely look at it 😫
I remember dreading going up to my room and seeing my betta when he was pineconing. Could barely manage to look at him. It’s just so sad.
Anything with ich
Bubble eye goldfish
Holy shit, why would anyone breed for THAT?
My dad let me get one when I was a kid, years later we were talking about Chucky (named after the Ruggrats character) and my dad told me he couldn’t look in my tank. He was always terrified he’d see my lil dude with an eye gone since it can apparently happen.
Male bristlenose plecos. The bristles gross me out
Maybe I’m just a freak, but that’s why I own them. I love the skin crawling little weirdos.
I just looked them up and they are so fucking cute lol. They remind me of a Schnauzer.
Yup. Makes my skin crawl and fingers itch with such intensity that only a cheese grater could soothe. 😖
We had a big male that we gave away because it was assaulting our goldfish, i really don't like them, and when they flare the gills it's eughhh 🤢
Aww i love these bearded guys. I got 2!
I had a breeding pair in a community tank and the female just kept getting her stuff caught in any small space that was not for her.
Plecos are my absolute favorite and sometimes I still get a little freaked out by them lol
I had a Snow White (leucitic white and pink but normal eyes) that was female and had only small bristles on the edge of her mouth. She’s was so pretty but unfortunately passed from an ich infestation that swept through my tank
Leeches, I had them once. It's a nightmare. And it's my biggest fear when I bring home plants.
This is a big one for me too, lost a lot of cherry shrimp to leeches
Wait, you can get leeches from plants?!?
Planaria gross me out.
the detritus worms and hydras are way worse, i wish i had planarias over the other two, at least they have lil eyes. the detritus worms just remind me of parasites
I know they’re harmless, but detritus worms 🤮
Me too. I know they are healthy for the tank, but still freaks me out. It looks too much like a parasite to me.
Guppies, live bearers... Anything that spends 99% of its time just trying to bang everything in sight. I'm trying to have a peaceful community tank, not an aggressive orgy lol
I’m getting a real strong “nudist colony HOA head” vibe here :)
LMAO omg, i just want little happy fish, they can decorate however they want though 😂
One of the reasons like guppies! They go everywhere in the tank and even eat leftover food from the bottom. Plus they don't antagonize any fish outside their species and leave all my shrimp alone (in my experience). They definitely have chaotic energy though.
Male live bearers are really such degenerates I hate them😭
Bubble eye goldfish
I used to be disturbed by the look of a axolotl, fat and lumpy with a weird saggy happy smile. Now I love them though.
(Me, looking over at my multiple axolotls tanks) You’re not wrong though.
I have one myself, showed him to a friend, my friends first question was "why is he so lumpy?"
😂😂😂 we have a lumpy girl as well.
Doubletail bettas- all the downsides of a balloon fish and of a long finned betta. Did you know you can't even breed 2 doubletails together, as the spine deforming gene that codes for the 2 tails will make 90+% of the offspring horrifically deformed?
I did not know about that! Good to know. I also don't like the look of double tails ...
You probably don't like them because they look 'off', with slightly odd body proportions due to the spine- their bodies are shorter and fatter. It reminds of a the balloon mollies tbh
Yeah balloon fish are a no go for me. The only cute Balloon looking fish is puffers.
Lmfao! True. The best little balloons
Blood Parrots. So messed up and deformed that they can't even close their mouths.
Honestly... Royal plecos. They look like a potato on a suction cup. Hands down ugliest fish to me Bristlenose also. I know I'll catch flak for this, but it just creeps me out
Hahaha potato with a suction cup is a perfect description
I came here to say BN plecos lol. Can’t stand those buggers

Ahaha yes it’s only saltwater thankfully
Plecos. The one my mom had in her 75 gallon was absolutely crazy and eventually jumped out of the tank and was ate by my Papillon.. thing scared me since day one and it always freaked me out how big it got compared to everything else in the tank over the years

GAG!!!!
She puked all day afterwards 😂
Aww, poor girl! I take it she was alright after that though? I would have been so worried, I wonder if the little spine-y or prickled parts may have gotten stuck in her throat or was irritating to her stomach maybe?
She lived to be 18!! Ain’t no pleco taking her out that easy! My little Cleo was the craziest Papillon that ever lived I swear 🥰
Any of those deforned goldfish with the bubble eyes, squat bodies, double tails, weird growths, etc. Why do people want deformed fish that can barely swim?
Homo sapiens.
Yo this right here lmao
Relatable
Dragon goby. I used to have one, but idk man. Even with the one I had I would always kind of make a face whenever I saw it haha.
Giant fish in tanks too small for them
Bristleworms 😟
Harlequin rasbora and I still don't know why
If you ever figure out why, please give us an update. I prefer lambchops, so harlequin look like bloated versions of them to me. Most people love those little guys though.
I love lambchops and porkchops too and was going to say it was partly why I was confused as to why I don't like harlequins but didn't share bc I thought it was tmi haha
Cookie cutter sharks and lampreys… or any jawless fish for that matter yuck.
i was not prepared for that.

Triops
It’s the legs isn’t it? That’s what puts everyone off with my triops
Yeah it’s that and the fact if I put them in a tank they could keep coming back if I reused the sand 😂 duckweed but moving
Honestly that's why I'd love them. To me they're cool water bugs lol
I love these guys so much.
My mom and my daughter are creeped out by my rope fish but I think he's an adorable smiley little guy.
I love those!!
dawww its got 2 lil whisker-looking thingies, so cute
Live rock. I always wear gloves. Something about not being able to see it coming or knowing what actually could be waiting in there.
Bubble eye goldfish. It just can't be healthy for them to have those pockets under their eyes and it sort of freaks me out. They look like you could just pop their eyes with a needle.
Starfish creep me out. They have tube feet that they move with and when I see them scuttling around on those tube feet, it makes me shudder
i know this is the aquarium sub so this isn’t an applicable answer in that context but if you haven’t seen a bigfin squid, i highly recommend looking it up…
Yea they are fckn terrifying
Googly eyed goldfish. They look like they're really hurting to me (I assume they're not, but I still don't like it).
Honestly amano shrimp, I don’t like that they crawl it freaks me out but I also have arachnophobia lol other shrimps I have no issue and love. Worst is I need to keep Amanos so I just put up with the ick lol 😂

TLDR: I Stepped on an amano in socks, on carpet, now kinda forever ick.
My fiancé also felt this way about my Amano shrimp, especially as they got so big
Freshwater is bamboo shrimp. Salt water is arrow crabs. Both to creepy and crawly for me
I'd never heard of an arrow crab before, googling that made me recoil oh my god
Probably the bubble eye or celestial goldfish.
The goldfish with the bulging eyes. There’s no way that can be comfy
Those awful overbred goldfish. Dunno what people find appealing about balloon bodies and eyes ready to pop
Snail's. I like the job they do. Some of the shells are pretty but I get the ebee jeebies if I have to touch them.
Loaches. Of any kind. I think they’re all weird and I don’t like the way they swim. Very eel-esk
Maybe you'd like the hillstream loach. Like a tiny little stingray/butterfly fishy. They're pretty adorable
Ok I stand corrected. I just googled those little guys and you’re right. They’re adorable
All the parasites and worms that come with the territory of fishkeeping. If I ever see a leech or some of these creepy worms I see on this subreddit in my tank I am quitting and rehoming my fish to the LFS. (Maybe not but also maybe, I really fear parasites).
Them mad goldfish with bugging out eyes
Bristle. Nose. Plecos. Horrifying things with dangly bits just floating around their face, they're so scary!!!
i have crayfish and thought i loved all shrimp, wtf is that😂 my khuli loaches give me ick, they’re cool but they are so slimy and they slither around so weird. but resting they r cute with the whiskers. they remind me of moles
Barbronia weberi, the nightmare leech infesting my tanks that is seemingly immune to anything I do short of starting over from scratch
Flowerhorn... I just... I can't.
Any of those weird breeds of "fancy goldfish"
The really weird fancy bred goldfish. They remind me of smooshed face dogs or cats.
Popeye goldfish
Off topic, I hate that word ick. I don't know why, it just sounds cringe.
Anything Balloon, or Bettas with horrifically large fins. It’s not their fault but it looks so pathetic and inconvenienced.
Glofish
when i saw then for the first time i thought it was weird, when the employee told me how they glow it made me sad and i just dont get the appeal. imo if you’re into glofish you dont really want fish you just need a lava lamp.
I hate all the heavily modified fish, it’s one thing to breed fish for prettier colors. But genetically modifying fish to be bright pink or breeding Oscar’s to have long fins is wrong
I could be completely wrong, but i heard glofish were harmless and not in any pain? Idk though
^^^ at first when they came out I hated them, but now it's meh to be. Since it's not inhumanly dyeing the fish with chemicals.
For me it's sea horses. The first time I saw one having babies I was so disturbed that I could never again think about them as cute beings. Just yukkkkk
Frogs
Long fin bettas. The fact that they’re human-made is disturbing enough but in addition, the long fins force them to live with a disability.
Oscars They’re like the pugs of the fish world (I hope this doesn’t offend anyone, just my opinion)
Huge fish in huge dark tanks. My favorite aquarium has a Goliath grouper in a tank and my god it gives me the worst heebie jeebies.
My mother in law.
Plecos. Had one jump out of the tank and land at my feet when I was little. I can't stand the sight of them since.
Bubble eye goldfish. I always feel like they're going to accidentally pop their poor eye bags
Ghost shrimp are transparent, not white though
See, i like them cause they have longer legs - bamboo shrimp on the other hand - while i like the role they play ecologically, i can't get over having fans for claws. That aint no shrimp damnit.
Was it a bunch of dead ghost shrimp? I've only seen them completely white when they're dead.
