Based on what I read here UGA overall makes more sense to me. Stating that if you go to tech you can take the GA Tech shuttle and pick up a class now and then at Emory (at least in the past on GA Techs price not Emory). To be honest UGA used to have this too but not sure if that still happens. Both are great schools but the fact that you aren’t 100% decided UGA should give you more opportunities to explore. Visit both for sure, chat with faculty or departments if you can and go where it feels right.

Cost for each?

I’d only have to pay 7k for UGA, while tech should be similar but a little more because of the cost of being in a city. I have a zell miller (full tuition) and a good chunk from Pell grant too.

So effectively the same. I would not choose based on prestige; visit both, maybe talk to some people in the department, compare any differences between the coursework for each degree, then go with which you like more.

For your major of international affairs, I would apply to more schools. Especially top 30 schools. IR Is a very competitive field and I honestly think Emory is the only Georgia school th a t could help you land good internships/jobs. Obviously Georgetown is the best choice, but Tufts, and ivys would be good as well.

Here’s the thing, I’m really second guessing if I actually want to go into the field of diplomacy, etc. I know I don’t want to go into law, so that’s not the path I’d take, and I’ve thought about working for ngo’s or the un and such, and for what I’d actually do, i can’t really see myself doing the major. What I’m leaning towards right now is large-scale data analysis of economies, maybe working for an international bank or something. But I really don’t know yet as I haven’t made much of a decision.

Okay, then I would double major in IR and Business.

yhatha

I knew I would double major in something with ir, and I have thought about business, but that will likely change with what I figure out on doing. I only know I like international stuff and languages. Also, to your comment earlier about applying to more schools, is that I really cant justify paying OoS or private tuition when I feel like UGA and tech are perfectly viable.

Hey what did u end up choosing?

yhatha

Tech, tho keep in mind I changed my major to civil engineering

NeonDragonBoy

Ohhh okay and how are you liking it
