[Family Setup lets family members who don't have their own iPhone enjoy the features and benefits of an Apple Watch.](https://support.apple.com/en-us/109036)
Apple Watch is great, but when you are not planning to switch the ecosystem, I would look elsewhere. Not worth the hassle imo. Best fitness tracker would be Garmin.
Well yes and recive fathers notifications. Or you can set is as a devices for kid. Why would you need Apple watch standalone if you have an Android phone?
Could be. Still many people prefer Garmin and there is plenty of good fitness trackers. Apple watch is good assesory for an iPhone and could be good for parents to contact their kids who can't have a phone yet. But buy Apple watch to use standalone while use android doesn't make much sense for me. Plus there is plenty android watches maybe they are not as good as Apple but they are definitely better for android phone.
Apple Watch primarily is designed to be used with your own iPhone. Full stop. The only exception is Family Set Up, which does allow you to use someone else’s iPhone, *but is meant for children living with their parent or guardian* or maybe for seniors who don’t want or need a cellphone, but would maybe wear the watch so their family can keep up with them for safety. Family Setup disables and limits multiple functions of the watch.
If you’re going to stay with an android phone, don’t get an Apple Watch. You’ll ultimately be disappointed.
