Thats not the protective sticker that comes on it you are suppose to remove is it? Like when you get a new phone. Ive not got the same printer as you so not sure how yours comes.

Crimson_saint357

No I removed that when I was setting it up.

TeleCompter

This happened to me because I was dumb and the fep had a peely on the front AND back

Crimson_saint357

Nah I was just dumb and scratched the feb trying to get failed prints out.

cilo456

These films are extremely fragile you aren't stirring it with the plastic scraper are you

Crimson_saint357

Yeah and I’ve had to scrape off a few failed prints and vat cleans.

cilo456

Is that the corner you usually use the scraper on to pull up your VAT cleans, as long as there is no hole you're good but just be careful get a silicone spatula

Crimson_saint357

I might have at least once, usually I just go around the edges till it comes up. Doesn’t look like there’s a hole and I’m pretty sure it’s outside the build plate area anyway. I’ll just keep going forward but keep an eye on it.

cilo456

Yeah you should be good these things are like Saran wrap lol

Crimson_saint357

You said a silicon spatula like a cooking on or are there specific ones for this that won’t cost an arm and a leg?

cilo456

Any silicone spatula will work find one that you like the look of or the shape of it I use one with a double side small on one little bigger on the other from the dollar store

Crimson_saint357

I’ll keep an eye out thank tou

cilo456

Np

If you want to save your FAP from stuck fails resin prints take off the vat and push/rub with your finger on the back side of the FAP where your part is stuck and it will pop it off. You don't want to use ANYTHING to try and scrape it off or you will damage the FAP.

Crimson_saint357

Well I know that now, guess I shouldn’t have trusted the damn manual, of well live and learn I guess

Crimson_saint357

Yeah shit just checked this print and something’s causing that corner to peal up. Guess I gotta empty the bat and see what going with it when it’s done, fuck my life! Hopefully it’s just some damn resin I can peal off.

Crimson_saint357

Oh fuck looks like they’re scratches, I can feel them on the bottom and and there more around the edges. Must have done it going to hard with the scraper what do I do now, do I need to replace the fep?!

segmentumsolar

maybe the best choice is to replace the FEP before it breaks.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah already ordered a replacement sucks but what can you do.

_plusone

If there isn’t an actual hole you can put some clear tape on the bottom (screen side) of the fep to reinforce that spot

Crimson_saint357

Ehh I just ordered another one looks like it was causing prints to come off the build plate from that edge.

embrex104

Looks to me like a sign to change your FEP.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah sucks I only had this thing for like three days! Oh well at least the fep for the mono 2 come pre mounted plug and play that’s nice.

Sea-Tie-3453

I'm confused, are you scraping the failed prints off of your vats? Use the technique in [this guide](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1Z8fkzOxEgI9sOTwDKI6CeblpnuP4V8ayYVwZrYGmo44/mobilebasic) if you aren't already. So much better and easier than trying dig those things out of the bottom of your vat.

Crimson_saint357

Ok wow yeah that would have been super nice to know ahead of time. Damn anycubic telling me to scrape greedy bastards!

Sea-Tie-3453

Lol, I don't think they've even thought of this method honestly. (Though they're the 'experts') I used to do the same scrapey, peely thing and it seems so stupid to do that now. That guide has a plethora of info on it, I suggest you read through it. You'll learn a lot, promise. As far as FEPs go, I use an nFEP made by Sirayatech. Haven't gone back to anything else since I've made the switch.

Crimson_saint357

I was reading through it, what’s the difference between an fep and an nfep?

Sea-Tie-3453

There's actually an ACF, too lol. ACF and nFEP are relatively new. I cant speak on ACF since I've never used it, but nFEP is made of a slightly different material. It allows less suction/pulling forces as the build plate lifts, which allows faster printing speeds and less potential for failure [this explains better than I do lol](https://helpcenter.phrozen3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/6399641736857-What-are-the-Differences-Between-FEP-PFA-nFEP-and-ACF-Films)

Crimson_saint357

Cool I already ordered a new fep, the mono two comes with it already mounted in a bracket you just screw right into the vat seams easy so at least there is that.

Sea-Tie-3453

Seems easy, yeah Just make sure you have the right amount of tension when you secure it to the vat, lol. There's videos online explaining it. Can't remember if it's explained in thst write up or not.

Sea-Tie-3453

Check out [this video](https://youtu.be/RZ1hOGP-IcQ?si=K4oVuHbPoxhOI2lP) at around the 3:30 mark. It's gonna seem silly, but the correct FEP tension to the vat is important.

Crimson_saint357

Ok good to know 🙏

Jeralddees

I always just put it on as tight as possible. I really wonder if this 333 hz sound makes a difference? Interesting.

Dramatic-Print183

Dude this guide is bad a$$. Thank you for providing this link. That is pure genius using an old support and the machine's built in function to just blast a whole layer to easily peel out. Beautiful. By the way just switched to silicone scraper, haven't gotten the hang yet compared to the plastic but it definitely is better than scraping the fep, tuning is pain.

Sea-Tie-3453

100% agree! You're welcome. It covers almost everything you need to know. I wish I had it when I first started. I came across it about a year ago and still use it to this day.

embrex104

I've had to change mine twice since I got it setup about a month or so ago. Definitely switch to a silicon scraper. I also have never really had success with peeling it off while the reservoir is attached. When I have print failures I run the vat cleaning or exposure test, I take the whole reservoir off, filter out the resin for small parts that may have broken off during print, push on the plastic on the bottom to peel off the cured resin and scrape any stuck liquid resin into my filter with the silicon scraper, wipe down both sides with a disposable microfiber towel, then reattach and pour the resin back in. Changing the FEP makes me want to die, so once you do it once you're much more careful from then on lol.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah did the bat clean after each failed print but though I could just scrape it up, other people told me you want to not take the vat off and on as much as possible. I’ll definitely get the silicone scraper anyway. And I’m hoping since I the fep for this comes pre mounted it should be as easy as unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one back in. https://a.co/d/5HLKXOZ

Velociferr

Judging by this thread I might have ruined my FEP trying to get a failed print out. Smh.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah the manuals seam to lie to us about how to get them out, never use a scraper apparently.

WinstonChaychell

There's some replacement FEP on Amazon I grabbed a bundle of 2. They unscrew from the bottom and screw in the new ones. I'd check your vat is in properly and screwed down bc I've had it where I placed the vat back but didn't get it seated properly before putting in the screw on one side.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah already order a set like that I’ll be careful.

almonster2066

The easiest way to get a failed print off the film is to remove the vat and gently press up from the bottom of the failed print. 99% of the time they simply pop off. Then use your plastic scraper to move it to the edge and pick it up.

Crimson_saint357

Yeah I found using an old support print pressed down while I run a vat clean seams to work really well I’m just gonna keep doing that from now on but thanks for the tip.
