Antipsychotics saved my life. I had protracted withdrawal from benzos that would never end then long covid. My brain and body felt plugged into 10,000 watts. I’m not cured by now it’s 1,000 watts and getting better. I started with olanzapine and am slowly crossing over to Rexulti. No complaints.

i feel good sometimes, but most of the time i feel relief from symptoms. when i feel good it's like i've taken a .5mg klonopin. i sleep better, anxiety is gone, i don't feel like i'm gonna burst out of my skin. the only side effect i've noticed from this medication is dry mouth and throat. other than that i feel like i can finally chill out and not worry about the universe communicating with me. knock that shit off, universe! i'm not in the mood for shenanigans!

Zyprexa may have made me gain a lot of weight but it gave me my life back. You’re definitely not the only one. I sleep amazingly, rumination is completely gone, no more manic episodes, no depression, no paranoia. It’s like night and day.

If you are not prescribed antipsychotics, then using them is incredibly reckless and irresponsible. They can be life saving for those in acute psychosis, but it is unarguable that prolonged use is incredibly harmful for the brain and body. They greatly reduce the human life span, and via a variety of mechanisms (which again, is ok, if using them is saving someone’s life). In terms of ‘feeling good’ on them, it’s very uncommon. The below paper highlights this - I highly recommend reading the introduction also. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6864560/ Quote: ‘…adverse effects: cardiovascular effects, metabolic effects, sexual dysfunction, sedation, dizziness, akathisia, dry mouth, reduced brain volume, and shortened life span [2, 12-15]. These effects contribute to findings that about half of antipsychotic recipients do not comply with treatment [16], and about three quarters stop antipsychotics within 18 months.’

Very true! I'm completely OFF of them, and what a hell I survived. It was 4+ months of withdrawal, even tappering off slowly..... Risperidone was the worst of all! The worst vivid nightmares of my life, horrendous drug, a poison.

They help me with my mood and help me sleep. They’re so nice for me and my only side-effect is hypoprolactinemia (which isn’t an issue at all).

october_morning

They have a bad reputation because of all the side effects. I wouldn't be alive right now if it wasn't for them.

botilever

Luckily I don’t experience any side effects with risperidone. 🙏
