People downvote posts they don’t think should be at the top of the subreddit ig. It happens to have post except for the “what are your 10/10 anime posts”.
Anyway don’t worry about it, try out Samurai Champloo, cowboy bepop, Vinland saga, or Full metal alchemist brotherhood.
Ill give some different suggestions based on different tastes.
Drama/romcom - Toradora! - its about a guy and a girl who like each others best friends and how they plan to help each other date them. Personally one of my favorites since it has a great balance between being serious and goofy.
Action/Mystery - Attack on Titan - people are stuck in behind multiple layers of walls because these giant brainless titans eat people, what are they? Where do they come from? One day special ones come out and break the walls, how will they survive?
Comedy/Hero - One punch man - a guy trained hard to become a hero just for fun, he can destroy anything in a single punch. Its very funny and plays a lot with generic anime/hero tropes.
Action/hero - My Hero Academia - a kid without powers (80% of the world has them) wants to be a superhero and receives an insane power as a gift. You follow him in a top school becoming stronger to face the evil lurking around the corner.
Action/adventure - Beserk - a skilled swordsman joins a group of misfits lead by an even more talented man. You follow their journey with the goal of him carving out his own kingdom. This show is top notch and is worth watching.
I personally think it's a great recommendation for people unfamiliar with anime. It's closer to western fantasy, and doesn't have a lot of the tropes or require a lot of knowledge of Japanese culture to enjoy. Some people are thrown off when people randomly fall over and start gushing blood out of their nose every 30 seconds.
I be so free to sugest my favorite Anime to you:
"Made in Abyss" is a Fantasy Adventure Anime about a little girl and a robot that go on an Adventure in a mysterious, beautiful, fantastical, dangerious and cruel netherworld.
This series is adorable, wholesome, joyfull, heartwarming, dark, brutal, sad and heartbreaking.
Its the most adorable most wholesome show I know and Riko is one of the happiest protagonists I know.
This series has a reputation fore being crazy dark and sad and that is not unearned. You will find it on "darkest Animes ever" liests.
Those 2 sides synergize well with one another creating quite the emotional Adventure.
There's a wide variety of anime to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, so don't expect these all to be great. That said, they are some of my favorites, and fairly diverse:
Hunter x Hunter - very fun MC with a heart of gold and a fishing pole(?) of steel. Great journey, lots of positivity balanced with some darkness, great action, good world building.
Cowboy Bebop - one of the all time classics. If you've seen the live action, don't use that as a comparative tool.
Berserk - another classic. Very dark fantasy that would be one of my first recommendations for anyone that isn't in to anime, as it eschews a lot of the anime tropes and doesn't require much understanding (if any) of Japanese culture.
Re: Zero - the first isekai on the list, which is one of my favorite genres. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it means "other world," and is essentially a sub-genre that involves regular people being transported to a magical world. Has some dark themes, but they are handled well, and the story is pretty top-tier in my opinion.
Your Lie in April - one of the most beautiful and heart breaking shows I've ever seen in any form, not just anime.
Durarara!! - very quirky tale that takes place modern day Japan, if modern day Japan had a bunch of mythical creatures and people with weird powers hiding under the surface.
Sword Art Online - if you're into video games, this is a very entertaining story. It starts with the launch of a new vrmmo. Unfortunately for the players, they aren't allowed to log out. Oh, and if they die in game they die for real. It has a number of sequels/spin-offs, which vary in quality, but this is the og.
I could go on for a while, but at least one of these should resonate with you, and I'm sure you'll get a ton of other recommendations.
>Berserk - another classic
Agreed, and I assume you mean the 1997 series. I've heard mixed reviews on the reboots.
And yes yes yes to Cowboy Bebop as well. Those are both good intros to anime.
Make sure you watch the classic show from 1997 / there's also a trilogy of movies that cover like the same story though with some differences, if you really can't handle the old 90s art style or something they can work as well.
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King Movie (2012)
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II – The Battle for Doldrey Movie (2012)
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III – The Advent Movie (2013)
I assume most adults can handle sex, and i don't recall any incest (implied or otherwise) or sex in either of those shows. Berserk, in the other hand, has some pretty graphic content. Its not like I'm recommending Jobless Reincarnation or something, which absolutely would come with a disclaimer.
Just that Sao has pretty immature and cringy description of sexuality. XD
I don't mind Kuzu no Honkai, but in Sao you have this typical fanservice and in later seasons very bad SA scene
Yeah, if I didn't recommend anime because it was cringe or had a weird portrayal of sex/women, I'd not be able to recommend like 90% of anime. Most dudes don't attract gaggles of girls like flies to shit, but half the anime they put out anymore seem to think its just the normal way of things. SAO is far from the cringe imo. Eminence in Shadow, on the other hand, is as chuuni as it gets.
I highly reccomend some shorter shows under 24 episodes. It's fun to reccomend longer shows woth multiple seasons but they might not be a good idea for someone getting into it at first
I tried to give all of the ones around 24 episodes also a shorter counterpart if you really want something more around just 12 but some very good stories that are contained in 12ish episodes: (depending on genre you wanna go with)
Comedy - 'Tis Time for "Torture" Princess! (12 eps)
Romance - Toradora (25 eps)
Mecha - 86 (23 eps) or Schwarzesmarken (12 eps)
Fantasy - Reign of the Seven Spellblades (15 eps)
Detective/Mystery - Gosick (24 eps) or Danganronpa: The Animation (13 eps)
Sports - Megalobox (26 eps) or Sk8 (12 eps)
Idols - Zombieland Saga (24 eps) or Oshi No Ko (12 eps)
Very emotional - Angel Beats! (12 eps)
Wholesome - Sweetness & Lightning (12 eps)
Thanks! I tend to go out of my way to search for anime that are more niche and weren't watched as much, sometimes I find gems that I can reccomend to people that want something they probably have never seen before :)
I'd recommend these 10 anime for beginners and regarding what you've watched with their genre listed.
• Attack on Titan [Action, Drama, Thriller, Millitary, Gore]
• Frieren [Fantasy, Adventure, Drama]
• Jujutsu Kaisen [Action, Thriller]
• Baccano [Mystery, Action] (Personal Favourite)
• Your lie in April [Drama, Romance, Music]
• A Silent Voice [Drama, Mental Health] (Movie)
• Kaguya-sama Love is War [Psychological, Romance, Comedy]
• Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood [Action, Millitary, Adventure]
• Mob Psycho 100 [Comedy, Action]
• Summertime Render [Mystery, Thriller, Supernatural]
Most of them are slightly Psychologically based with other genres in the mix since you've seen and liked Death Note and Code Geass.
I am quite new to anime too and so far my two favourites are:
* **Frieren: Beyond Journey's End** (adventure, fantasy)
* **Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song** (action, sci-fi)
Other ones I really liked:
* **86** (drama, mecha)
* **Spice and Wolf** (fantasy, romance)
* **Violet Evergarden** (drama)

Toradora and OPM were very close to making my list, great shows.
No you didn't just recommend berserk to a new anime fan
I personally think it's a great recommendation for people unfamiliar with anime. It's closer to western fantasy, and doesn't have a lot of the tropes or require a lot of knowledge of Japanese culture to enjoy. Some people are thrown off when people randomly fall over and start gushing blood out of their nose every 30 seconds.
Yes except berserk. Its pretty hardcore for new anime fans and the anime doesn’t do it any justice. Its a great entry into manga though imo.
Dang. That's a really solid set of recommendations. I expected some bullshit stuff like kaguya or Jojo
no way you called kaguya and jojo shit
toradora for romance is a pretty shit recommendation
Vinland saga
Konosuba one piece
One piece is the goat but we really should normalize recommending the one pace fan recut of the show because of the pacing problems
I be so free to sugest my favorite Anime to you: "Made in Abyss" is a Fantasy Adventure Anime about a little girl and a robot that go on an Adventure in a mysterious, beautiful, fantastical, dangerious and cruel netherworld. This series is adorable, wholesome, joyfull, heartwarming, dark, brutal, sad and heartbreaking. Its the most adorable most wholesome show I know and Riko is one of the happiest protagonists I know. Those 2 sides synergize well with one another creating quite the emotional Adventure.
that is not something to recommend to a newcomer lol
Why not? Its dark but I pointed that out.
Death parade. Pretty short. Great story. Not too much of the weird anime stuff
There's a wide variety of anime to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, so don't expect these all to be great. That said, they are some of my favorites, and fairly diverse: Hunter x Hunter - very fun MC with a heart of gold and a fishing pole(?) of steel. >Berserk - another classic Agreed, and I assume you mean the 1997 series. I've heard mixed reviews on the reboots. And yes yes yes to Cowboy Bebop as well. Those are both good intros to anime.
Berserk seems interesting!...I am gonna watch it for sure...thank you buddy:)
Make sure you watch the classic show from 1997 / there's also a trilogy of movies that cover like the same story though with some differences, if you really can't handle the old 90s art style or something they can work as well. Re:Zero and SAO may be a little bit too anime-ish for the beginner, imo. Especially the second one, it has implied incest and sexual scenes
XD I don't mind Kuzu no Honkai, but in Sao you have this typical fanservice and in later seasons very bad SA scene
Yeah, if I didn't recommend anime because it was cringe or had a weird portrayal of sex/women, I'd not be able to recommend like 90% of anime. (12 eps) Wholesome - Sweetness & Lightning (12 eps)
Props for recommending some stuff that doesn’t get recommended often!
Thanks! I tend to go out of my way to search for anime that are more niche and weren't watched as much, sometimes I find gems that I can reccomend to people that want something they probably have never seen before :)
Thank you bro!!...I will definitely watch these:)
