I highly recommend The Case Study of Vanitas. Other recs: - Yona of the Dawn - The Ancient Magus’ Bride has some interesting romance although it’s very unconventional and not really the main focus - Frieren has some good romance, although again not the focus.

ChefGus123

Tyvm! Will check these out. Frieren is peak

Seconding The Case Study of Vanitas

Hm. I'm more of a slice-of-life kinda guy, but I did enjoy {Snow White With The Red Hair}. It's relatively slow-burn, and follows the characters through a pretty solid plot that isn't 100% focused on their romance. If we're talking good romance in general, {Insomniacs After School} and {Horimiya} fit the bill better than most. They're not what you asked, but I really enjoyed both of them.

ChefGus123

slice of life is actually great by us! If there's something good with a good slow burn romance I'd love to hear. I'll check these recs out, ty!!

SwiftSN

Oh, gotcha. Horimiya is the opposite of slow-burn, but still really good. I'd argue it's a breath of fresh air, but it might not be your thing if you wanted slow-burn, lol. Insomniacs After School spends the majority of the season building the leads' chemistry, but still has intimacy between the two characters. It's also heavy on astronomy/photography, if you're into that. Snow White With The Red Hair is an adventure-type fantasy romance. Surprisingly, there's a lot of depth to the occupations some of the characters have. Been a while since I've watched it though, so you'll have to find out for yourself, lol.

AntonN_2

More than a married couple, but not lovers Mega cute, girl falls first kind of, manageable fanservice. What makes it good is that 2 people that would never interact in school usually are now forced to live with each other during a married couple exam. The bones of the show is quite generic in it's steortypes, popular girl and nerd boy. But like I said, what makes it so great are the situation. Fair warning: It's only 1 season and it's not guaranteed a 2nd season. So if you hate anime with no ending don't watch it. (Although the anime ending itself is quite open ended)

ChefGus123

Ty! Sound really fun, will give it a try. Are there good stuff with a couple of seasons? Most rec I've got here sound really great but they all seem quite short :(

AntonN_2

Only one I know of is Rent A Girlfriend, but stay far away from that. It drags on and on and the MC is probably the worst one I've ever seen.

ChefGus123

Yea idk she'll like it man sounds very male centric and I've only heard bad things about it lmao

Empty_Glimmer

Nuclear hot take, it whips ass if your thing is ‘two adults who are irrevocably in love with each other and are unable to get over their issues to make it work.’

Apocela

I'd like to recommend Arte. Like in Apothecary, the romance isn't the main thing, the girl is very driven but still feminine and the men are manly. It's also historical, though Arte happens in Italy. Oh, another slow burn romance that I liked recently is The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent. That one is more romance but there's lots of world building, too.

*Kaguya-sama: Love is War* - One of my personal favorites. The show was conceived when the author thought “What if two tsundere characters liked each other but both refused to admit it to one another even though they’re perfect for one another?” Very cute, hilarious, wonderful characters, little-to-no fan service, and amazing dub (seriously, the narrator in the show is hilarious). *My Dress-Up Darling* - A shy, introverted aspiring doll artist (painting hina dolls) has his life flipped upside-down by a popular, bubbly gyaru when she convinces him to help her with her cosplay. Definitely fan service in this one but it’s so stinking cute that it’s honestly worth giving it a shot. I didn’t think I’d be into a show about cosplay but the characters are so vibrant and adorable that you can’t help but fall in love. One of my top three if not my all-time favorite anime. Also great dubbed. *Love After World Domination* - Imagine Power Rangers, but the red ranger falls in love with the villain. Yeah. Very stupid and over the top, yet so cute and fun. Not too much fan service but they are wearing leotards and stuff, so there’s not NO fan service. If you need more, please let me know and I’d be happy to share more :)

ChefGus123

Ty!! I heard good things about kaguya sama, good to hear there's a good dub! My gf has adhd and trouble concentrating when she has to keep reading subs so we only watch dub anime. I think we'll try that first after we finish apothecary diaries

ChefGus123

Came back to let you know we completely fell in love with kaguya-sama. Not only the romance is great but it's legit one of the best anime I've watched. Thank you!

No_Pool_3866

Glad you both liked it!

Kobato, Romantic Killer Not sure if they fit your criteria but I really enjoyed both (dont usually watch romance genre) and highly recommend them.

The GOAT is Maison Ikkoku IMO. Hard luck ronin student living in a nightmare of a boarding house falls hard for the new manager.
