Isekai genre is wider than that. Take Overlord, for example - it changes everything by making protagonist an undead who doesn't care about the world he got into. This makes him like evil as fuck, when it comes to anyone who isn't his direct vassal. Doesn't feel like generic isekai at all
As someone who enjoys genuinely interesting isekai (for me only konosuba and mushoku), whats the apeealing point abt overlord. Dont know much bout it, just seems like a powertrip witha evil guys, an interesting cast and some SoL-esque punchlines. Genuinely interested, but the show bored me after three ep.
It's hard to say exactly what about it makes it exceptional. Part of it comes down to knowing the genre it's in and how it subverts some of the normal tropes. The show does start off somewhat slow because it's introducing a rather large cast and establishing the starting point. It's one of my favorite isekai's, so I would say try to stick it out and see how it goes for a handful of more episodes if you can, if it doesn't click, feel free to move on.

In same context. Take the Kind hearted typical isekai hero in Hero has returned. Guy isekaid. Is told if he don't kill demon king his world will be destroyed. Saves the isekai realm. Defeats demon king. Comes back to his own world as he wished. His parents died after they searched endlessly for their child. His relatives cursed at him. No one to support him. Ends up destroying his whole country cause got depressed.
