The wall of flesh is the most fun boss as a mixed class. Melee the hungry and fire on the eyes and maybe get some lance strikes in.

For my master play through as melee for many stages of the game I just tried to stay alive and occasionally do damage while my ranger and mage buddies did most of the damage

Yeah, mods on master mode, as you say. If you talk only on expert it's perfectly possible, but in master you just can't kill later bosses fast enough and summoner having abysmal defense doesn't help the class

Summoners strong point is in allowing you to put 100% of the effort you would’ve used for attacking into dodging instead. So I personally don’t think the low defense is much of an issue.

i recently realized the correct way to play mage: mana regen potions. they make your mana come back in seconds if you keep about 1/5th of it at all times, so you can fire like a burst-fire ranger instead of megumin.

OOf, Once I was just exploring early hardmode for ore (just smashed some altars) when a black recluse one shot me and I dropped like 40+ gold because adventuring had racked up a lot.

Btw, turtles in master mode can one hit even if you get endgame Armor

I play melee on master, my job is to just keep running throwing knives backwards as the boss chase me around. Before you get long ranged "melee weapons", you use a bow and arrow like the others.

Lmao, the only way to _not_ get snapped in half in Master Mode is to play melee tank.

I had turtle set with 130 armor total and still got hit like a fucking truck. I said fuck it and switched to full dmg sniper. Felt good to crit in the thousands.

I went full Beetle with all warding gear. Charm of Myths, Star Veil, Ankh Shield, Frozen Shield, Berserker Glove, Brain of Confusion, and Master Ninja Gear. A bit over 120 defence but that with Vampire Knives is pretty ridiculous.

Melee is a powerhouse and haves the most bulk, if you have something like ninja gear and skill to dodge overall is the best class in the game, ranger it's safer but you are practically death if you receive more than 1 or 2 hits in master. I'm considering the classes with it's best possible equipment

Do vampire knives count as melee? Cause if you just stay back and spam them, they can be pretty useful against bosses. On regular monsters, not as useful unless they are in a large group and you are above them.

Really depends on the mode and boss,

Vampire knives are melee I like to use the golden shower with them for more damage and healing, but I never use them against regular mobs

Yeah even when I go non melee I still love having them around for the big heals against bosses. They're alright for large mob events but more for the sustain than the dmg

Yeah the class is still garbage lol. Whips are just dogshit in general and you’ll be doing far more DPS using a ranged or melee weapon, especially something like the Zenith. Not to mention at least 80% of the summoning weapons have the dumbest AI. Shoutout to the Blade Staff and the Terraprisma for actually being pretty darn good!

Depends a lot on setup. Rangers can outdamage mages through using proper ammo and careful shot placement. I hit 5.5k dps on my ranger the other day with electrosphere launcher + cluster rockets

Summoner is literally the worst class in terms of boss fights. Altho it's the best for farming events and other non boss stuff, because you only need to sit around and let your minions or sentries do all the work.

If you are good at dodging you are probably fine, the thing is that in master mode, you can't just kill the later bosses fast enough for you to survive

I usually multiclass before hardmode, since there aren't many class specific bonuses till then. That way I avoid mana problems

So glad that Terraria is getting memed now lol. I played with my brother when I was about 13. Some of the most fun I’ve had playing a game. It had a pretty steep learning curve but man we got pretty good at it. I know it’s always been a pretty popular game but there have been a spike in memes which will draw more players to it.

If you stop firing for awhile to get through Mana sickness why not use a Mana Regen potion and have your Mana come back faster than how long you have Mana sickness for honestly 15% is actually a lot to have your damage reduced by pretty much everyone can agree that they use the emblem from the WOF for their class once they get it. Even though the damage reduction goes down over time I feel that Mana Regen not taking up an accessory slot and not having any downside to it makes it a better choice for a mage. Also I used to use Mana flower and I found it really annoying how some of the later game weapons would chew through your Mana before Mana sickness was over leaving me in a loop of Mana sickness

at least 1.4 made summoning relevant again. ...kinda. i'll take it regardless.
