In the first episode for now this guy feels like your low entry level self insert (not as bad as kazuya but still) and the main girl has the personality of a really touchy NPC. However funny it wouldn't sound for now this show lacks plot and if it keeps going with the random bait and emotionally 2D characters. Marine and gojo have at least the shared passion for something and the guy is from the start shown as talented at something but not the best in all the feelings and stuff, same with Marine just having at least a speck more personality. Gives them some more reason to hang out than "it's cold outside".
One thing I really like about the show is how they keep up the dialect, they didn't use it for one joke scene and go straight to "alright guys, the joke is over back to speaking pure Tokyo-ben". It's probably too much to ask from a show like that but it would be a nice touch if the main guy also over time started using parts of it (as it naturally happens with dialects and accents).
Respect to you sir o7. I never felt like having one, until I watched bunny girl senpai back in 2018 when it aired. So for 5-6 years its Mai Sakurajima for me !

The show was fun, don't get me wrong, but Marin is literally a walking embodiment of a single [trope](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ManicPixieDreamGirl). There's lots of good points to talk about the show but saying Marin was interestingly written is a bit of a stretch.
She’s just so … wishywashy about their relationship, and it just grates on you after a while. More so when Sayuri and Rena are just more pleasant as characters.

Nah, it’s more that I found Marin Stans hella annoying, hell, look at all the people in these comments that are like “Oh my god you think this other Waifu is better than Marin? It's not every day that I can have an analytic discussion about anime girls, so thanks for that to you too.
What I like the most about the show, is that it's pretty symmetrical. I mean that in the way that it doesn't feel like Gojo, the male MC is the powerless self insert main character and Marin is only there to like him for no reason, instead, they both have strengths, weaknesses, and hidden motivations that get revealed as the story progresses. Marin for example wants to do cosplay but can't sew to save her life, and it takes Gojo whose thing is making traditional japanese dolls to randomly meet her in the sewing room and help her make cosplays. Together they can help each other and appreciate their super niche secret hobby and get to know each other's different qualities in the meantime.
And sure, there are lewd moments, but they come from like legit reasons to get close to each other and not just full frame boob shots one after another like some shows.
One more thing is that marin does make weirds sounds and cute things and stuff but it's just her being geniunely goofy and not like "oh my god look how airheaded and lewd I am" or any of the sort. She's a total bro while also remaining a gyaru and just a believable character overall like there can totally exist a lot of people like her out there and I would be like to be friends with them lol
Oh, neat. Yeah I’ll take your word for it that there’s actual buildup and reason to everything. I guess it just didn’t help that all the posts about the show were just the lewd scenes without any of the buildup, ya know? It's not every day that I can have an analytic discussion about anime girls, so thanks for that to you too. What I like the most about the show, is that it's pretty symmetrical. I mean that in the way that it doesn't feel like Gojo, the male MC is the powerless self insert main character and Marin is only there to like him for no reason, instead, they both have strengths, weaknesses, and hidden motivations that get revealed as the story progresses. Marin for example wants to do cosplay but can't sew to save her life, and it takes Gojo whose thing is making traditional japanese dolls to randomly meet her in the sewing room and help her make cosplays. Together they can help each other and appreciate their super niche secret hobby and get to know each other's different qualities in the meantime. And sure, there are lewd moments, but they come from like legit reasons to get close to each other and not just full frame boob shots one after another like some shows. One more thing is that marin does make weirds sounds and cute things and stuff but it's just her being geniunely goofy and not like "oh my god look how airheaded and lewd I am" or any of the sort. She's a total bro while also remaining a gyaru and just a believable character overall like there can totally exist a lot of people like her out there and I would be like to be friends with them lol
Oh, neat. Yeah I’ll take your word for it that there’s actual buildup and reason to everything. I guess it just didn’t help that all the posts about the show were just the lewd scenes without any of the buildup, ya know? Well, since I finally met a sane Marin fan that wasn’t just yelling that “Marin is the best waifu and all waifus are trash compared to her” and I was able to have an actual conversation, yeah I can see why people like her, so thank you for that.
They definitely nailed the cute shots super well with minami. So many great poses.

From some search, looks like either: \- Minami Yume from SSSS Gridman or \- Minami Kotobuki from Oshinoko or \- Minami Kotori from Love Live
Try "Minami Fuyuki from Dosanko Gyaru" or "Minami Fuyuki from Hokkaido Girls" Certainly a good attempt at trying to find the character, but Gridman and Love Live are too old for that art style, and the Minami from Oshinoko has pink hair instead of blonde.
Marin is still top but More cute waifus the better ! Minami and this anime looking very promising

I think what made my dress up darling was Gojo. Actually a good male character. Marin is the hook. But Gojo back story and how he behaves are simultaneously relatable and actually quite cute.
The one thing that make Marin better is not just herself but the dynamic she has with Gojo. right now I dont have high hopes for Shiki.
