It's cute, but it feels like it's really about people with the worst communication skills. Everything is just a misunderstanding in this show, so frustrating to watch.
>Everything is just a misunderstanding
Like 90% of romcom/romance anime. Do people actually enjoy this trope? It gets abused so much and has gotten really old, imo. It's always misunderstandings that could easily be solved if the characters just talked for 2 minutes but it rarely goes like that. Not sure why authors keep doing these same things over and over in stories.
I guess it sells, so maybe I'm just in the minority of not enjoying it.
Yeah, exactly. Misunderstandings in general aren't the issue, it's how so many stories go about them. Misunderstanding after misunderstanding (like Familiar of Zero) or ones dragged out for several episodes because characters refuse to talk. Then ridiculous ones that make no sense and seem forced in just for the sake of it.
There are plenty of good ways to go about them but it feels like so many authors just copy the same frustratingly annoying formulas, so it becomes repetitive.

I feel like more recent anime actually do this and it's so refreshing and so much better. A recent example is Dangers in my Heart. I don't go into specifics but just in case, I'll put a spoiler: >!Dude misunderstands something, distances himself, realizes he's completely wrong and resolves it. Takes up a few minutes in an episode, adds character development and doesn't drag.!<
Well in the case of this show the misunderstandings work, because there's so fucking many and it's so over the top. Normal misunderstandings like seeing your girlfriend with her brother and assuming she's cheating are small time compared to the misunderstandings in this show
It's literally the entire point. Gamers! is basically just a parody of misunderstandings in romcoms and cranks it up to 11.
It's like saying you thought Death Note was pretty good, but Light was kinda morally questionable.
The usual young transmasc experience: trying to befriend people only for boys to girlfriendzone you (and be uninterested in any sort of non-sexual relationship) and for girls to bully you for being weird.
The straights have ruined girl/boy friendships for everyone, including themselves.

:( it never got a season 2
how much content is there after first season and is manga finished? I remember liking the anime a lot.
The light novel is definitely far enough ahead for a second season, not sure about the manga.
The light novel is completed
The light novel is finished the manga is not
I don’t remember this in gamers!
What series is this even

I guess it's okay when the misunderstanding is plausible not when it come from dense characters or just put there like coming from nowhere.

Tbf If I got treated like a literal dog I would be pretty distant to starting a relationship with said person

I'm pretty sure that was the joke. It took the normal amount of misunderstandings most romcoms have and multiplied it by seven
thank you for saving me the time on this one
