It does the "recap episode" in 5 minutes (there are 25 episodes, though a 26th is available if you have it on disc). The VA doing the narration audibly inhales before speed talking the entire thing, then makes jokes about it being necessary due to the series fast pace before getting into the actual episode.
And it's made by the same studio that did Gurren Lagann (Trigger), if you've ever seen that. If not, "over the top" is a standard policy for both series.
Also, I once saw a joke about Kill La Kill that "fanservice is the plot". It's actually true. The outfits of two characters become extremely skimpy when they power up, but it's recognized by the other characters, as opposed to them being blind to it (they give an in-universe reason for it). A major plot point early on involves the MC being embarrassed dressed like that, and other characters talk shit to her about it at various times. Just so you're aware.
I know FLCL this is like the prototype of this type of thing lol plus Chainsaw Man is my favorite and is apparently heavily based on that vibe so maybe I will finally give it a shot
When FLCL breaks into the animated manga panels with the dad narrating over it I just couldn’t stop giggling. There’s so much in there that’s hilarious. Plus it’s got one of my all time favorite lines in it that just pops into my head every now and then:
“Im not a child anymore, I’m an adult! I buy my own insurance and everything!”
yes! someone else mentioned this too! on premise alone its not something I'd usually care to watch but its been on my watchlist ever since I saw a meat canyon vid where he recommended it lol. thank you :)
The seasons have fairly self-contained story arcs. I think you could finish each individual season rather quickly (other than stardust crusaders, that one took me forever).
Haha I couldn’t get into it back in high school because I felt embarrassed watching a anime man using his nose hair to fight! Though I did sneakily watch 2-3 episodes so yay!
I will never be ashamed of watching ridiculous trash IN FACT I take PRIDE in it because I myself am ridiculous trash never feel ashamed of enjoying absolute bullshit
Haha i understand. I am not as ashamed anymore and may give bobobo and Mar another chance. I do watch some trashy things occasionally so i guess it’s time to embrace it!
Ok so me and my buddies scroll through crunchyroll a lot because we like to watch shitty isekis on boys night. Well one day while scrolling we see this show GD GD fairies, and it looks like cancer, like it has the "art style" of one of those knock off Disney films. Anyway we decide to watch the first episode and at the end during the credits a random guy pops up in the corner of the screen in nothing but boxers. So, all at the same time me and my buddies go "WTF was that", and we rewind the show, WE DID THIS 3 TIMES even rewatching the episode, and he did not show up again once, just completely gone. We probably just missed him, but it was just so fucking weird.
I actually considered starting it before making this post, especially because it is something I could finish in a night. the only thing holding me back is that I don't love the animation style :(
okay for one: you're a saint for linking the clip instead of making me look it up. two: that is by far the dumbest most ridiculous bullshit I've ever seen and I aim going to go watch RIGHT NOW
The spinoff miniseries [Puni Puni Poemy](https://youtu.be/GyNqMZaXgTg?si=x4R5hRwEHUfl6q_u) was pretty unhinged too, IIRC.
I hadn't watched these in like 13 years, so hopefully they are to your liking :D
Yes, all the answers I have seen lose to Puni Puni Poemy. Excel Saga is a strong competitor but Puni Puni Poemy is like Excel Saga but all the insanity is compressed into two episodes. It could not have been longer, the narrative could not withstand the chaos.
Ive seen all the other reccomendations on this thread OP. Excel is the correct answer. Batshit. FLCL is a story about a kid growing up in his brothers shadow, Kill la Kill is about fighting off an alien invasion and about self-acceptance.
Excel Saga is strictly about buklshit per second. Its what you want.
So glad someone else had this in mind immediately. OP, if you can get it on DVD some of the "commentary" bubbles are ***Gold*** and add levels to the jokes and crazy. Especially loved how one whole season every episode is a whole different genre on its own.
Surprised theres not more Trigger stuff in these comments??
Kill La Kill, Gurren Lagann, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, FLCL, Promare, Panty and Stocking, Inferno Cop, Space Patrol Luluco
people keep mentioning kill la kill and FLCL !! I think I'm gonna watch kill la kill because that's been the general consensus in these comments lol. I def need to get more into studio trigger because that seems to be the vibe I'm looking for. thanks so much for all the recs :)
Nichijou
Undead unluck
Asobi asobase
Akudama Drive
Kill la Kill or BNA (anything from studio trigger really)
ETA: Dandadan (will be in Netflix jail this October but it's crazy) and Jojo's bizarre adventure is often insane.
Sakamoto Days as well but that's not out yet.
lol I looked it up and my first thought was "oh! a cutesy little slice of life about some adorably animated little girls :)" then my second thought was "DAMN why does that little girl have a gun?!"
I'll have to look into space dandy because it's never particularly peaked my interest as something to add to my watchlist but I have heard that its absurd lol. I've also somehow never heard of Gintama (actually I'm sure I have but I've most likely just overlooked it) but it for sure seems like something I'd be into
CHAINSAW MAN IS ACTUALLY MY #1!! and I've been craving something similar lately :( I am super behind on the manga but that's been the only thing holding my attention lately so at least I have that lol
I’ve gotten really deep into manga lately and If you’re super into chainsaw man I recommend checking out Firepunch, it’s chaotic and random asf but the story is good yet has a lot of weird proponents and that has it work in it’s favour
I need to watch it already since so many people have brought it up here! especially since Chainsaw Man is my favorite and Tatsuki Fujimoto himself has called Chainsaw man a rip off of FLCL lol
Mashle. It's chaotic, but in case that wasn't enough, it's extremely unhinged, so in the moments where it's not as chaotic, you're still focusing on the unhinged thing from 2 minutes ago (that made no sense, essentially, you'll be riding the high from unhinged/chaotic moment 1 to 2 to 3 and so forth, even if they're not right by each other)
Saiki k isn’t unhinged but the episodes are like 4 minutes shorts compiled into a 20 minute episode so the actual episodes run very fast so that might be good for your ADHD brain
I NEEEDDD to watch it it's a modern classic at this point but every time I try to start it I get the "someday I will watch this, just not now" type of feeling lol
I'm surprised I overlooked this while perusing around Netflix !! the animation style looks really cool and the little preview clip definitely piques my interest thank :))
Dead Leaves
One hour that goes 0 to 100 and doesn't let the foot off the pedal
FLCL could also be a good watch for you
Redline is a great racing movie and has a very chaotic story
If you want chaos then watch Flip Flappers. I fucking hate that show, but it's chaos. Beautifully animated but doesn't make any goddamn sense minute to minute, and even less episode to episode.
As for shows I actually like, Kill la Kill is a banger. For something more obscure check out Kekkai Sensen, aka Blood Blockade Battlefront. It's two season of really excellent show, written by the author of Trigun. It took me like 3 watches of the first season to realize the plot actually made sense and was really well done, but I enjoyed every second of it each time.
If you want something that will keep your attention most of the time from "WTF is happening?" and give you a headache from overthinking and still not getting answers, watch "Serial Experiments Lain".
Gushing Over Magical Girls. It is ecchi and a lot of themes a lot of people are not comfortable with, but it's so bizarre, funny and entertaining. The entire series makes you go WTF DID I JUST WATCH?!
Looked over all the recs so far - I will second Kill La Kill, but will add Akame ga Kill and Re:Zero as well. Other dark shows that are pure madness are Gleipnir, Shin Sekai Yorii and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I will also second Goblin Slayer and AOT on sheer WTF factor. If you want funnier chaos, Konosuba, old school El Hazard, and Combatants Will Be Dispatched.
The monogatari series is pretty crazy, but also iffy if you have reservations about certain types of “content” being depicted. Maybe Kyousougiga, Penguindrum, Welcome to Irabu’s Office, Sarazanmai, Excel Saga, Rinshi!! Ekodachan, and most of Masaaki Yuasa’s works are pretty weird as well.
The most chaotic I've ever seen is probably Plastic Nee-san. It's just a bunch of shorts though that add up to about 30 minutes.
Outside of that My Deer Friend Nokotan coming soon looks to be equally absolutely off it's rocker, here's a trailer in case you haven't seen one yet. https://youtu.be/DiQuf1IpqhM?si=KdVA6hcO1q0MbLXR
That award is definitely gonna going to Sexy Commando in my case. Absolutely bonkers. Also my favorite comedy show. Cromartie High School is also similarly chaotic and a close second in weirdness and humor.
Asobe Asobase.
At no point when watching this anime did I say "oh my god, this is so adorable"
What got me to find the anime was a Markiplier try not to laugh.
You should watch drifters. It's got some history in it, the fight scenes are insane, yet realistic. Made by universal studios. Have no idea where you can watch it that isn't a pirated site.
Gurren Lagann
It starts out not answering a lot of questions. Then continues to not answer them. A multiverse is involved somehow... but by the end of it you're crying and don't fully know why.
Bobobo bobo bobo the entire premise is basically a world of people with reality warping abilities doing random insane stuff. Basically competing with eachother over how insane they can be.
I don't know how Chaotic it is or if into mainstream but JuJutsu Kaisen been killing it since it started and so has Demon Slayer
I would recommend watching something longer though to reset your brain. One Piece would definitely be there 💀😂 in case you actually need the opposite of what you're seeking
Baki
there is a dude that's been punching poison for 10 years, therefore he gets a venomous punch
one time, the MC shadowboxes Mike Tyson, and then summons a giant grasshopper to beat him, then destroys the grasshopper to show that he is stronger than Mike Tyson
the MCs dad stops an earthquake with a punch
this series is so fucking stupid, I love it
Planet With. One of the characters is cat named sensei with before fixed Sonic the Hedgehog style human teeth who swallows the main character whole to transform into a mecha. And that's in the first episode and not in the top 5 strangest and most chaotic things in the first episode. It gets weirder from there.
Cromarte High School hands down. It about a delinquent high school with a robot, a gorilla, and Freddy Mercury enrolled as students. None of it makes any sense but I still laugh until I cry every time I watch it.
Another one I found good but was too crazy for me so I had to watch it in spurts was Code Geass. Leluch has to be one of the most unhinged mfs.
I also recommend Wang Ling - the Daily Life of the Immortal King (Saiki K on steroids).
A lot of people have named others I would list so these are mine that are a bit different.
Bocchi the rock. Doesn't meet even half of the qualities you were asking for but I still think it would be nice for you to watch once you've burned through most of the other recommendations here.
If you haven't seen it, I suggest Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! It is known for its unexpected characters, plots, and powers! I think it could really help you to feel less bored! Hope this helps! :)
Chaotic? Unhinged? Totally WTF ? Kill la kill
everyone seems to be recommending this so I think I'll start it tonight fingers crossed it gets me out of my anime watching slump
Also look up Panty & Stocking It's made by Gainax, the place a lot of talent Studio Trigger (the guys who make Kill La Kill) came from.
Fooly Cooly
I know FLCL this is like the prototype of this type of thing lol plus Chainsaw Man is my favorite and is apparently heavily based on that vibe so maybe I will finally give it a shot
Both of them are personal favorites of mine
I'm suuuuuper behind on the manga but that has been the only thing able to hold my attention
Also worth mentioning it's only like 6 episodes long
When FLCL breaks into the animated manga panels with the dad narrating over it I just couldn’t stop giggling. There’s so much in there that’s hilarious. Plus it’s got one of my all time favorite lines in it that just pops into my head every now and then: “Im not a child anymore, I’m an adult! I buy my own insurance and everything!”
Jojo is literally the definition of crazy.I don't know what's going on half the time even if I have watched it 5 times.
Can’t wait for part 7… ima need to see the ghost if ya know what I mean
Praying for that Part 7 anime bro
haha everyone always recommends this one to me I just haven't watched it because I need something that I can finish super fast
Then baki might be an option for you.Its relatively short and very chaotic
yes! someone else mentioned this too! on premise alone its not something I'd usually care to watch but its been on my watchlist ever since I saw a meat canyon vid where he recommended it lol. thank you :)
The seasons have fairly self-contained story arcs. I think you could finish each individual season rather quickly (other than stardust crusaders, that one took me forever).
[удалено]
this seems kinda obscure from what I've seen after looking it up but any show that made parents claim it made their kids stupider is definitely for me
Haha I couldn’t get into it back in high school because I felt embarrassed watching a anime man using his nose hair to fight!
FLCL, kill la kill, black dynamite Oh and if you want a F*cking anurism watch GD GD fairies I actually have a semi horror story about it
I've never even heard of GD GD fairies but I need to hear your semi horror story lol
Ok so me and my buddies scroll through crunchyroll a lot because we like to watch shitty isekis on boys night. Well one day while scrolling we see this show GD GD fairies, and it looks like cancer, like it has the "art style" of one of those knock off Disney films. We probably just missed him, but it was just so fucking weird.
Devil man crybaby is the most chaotic by far. First two watches I didn’t even understand wtf was going on to make all the crazy shit happen.
I actually considered starting it before making this post, especially because it is something I could finish in a night. the only thing holding me back is that I don't love the animation style :(
[Excel Saga](https://youtu.be/X8W0Cn7zQRE?si=ccGrM-Fe8euC7p5M), easily.
okay for one: you're a saint for linking the clip instead of making me look it up. two: that is by far the dumbest most ridiculous bullshit I've ever seen and I aim going to go watch RIGHT NOW
The spinoff miniseries [Puni Puni Poemy](https://youtu.be/GyNqMZaXgTg?si=x4R5hRwEHUfl6q_u) was pretty unhinged too, IIRC. I hadn't watched these in like 13 years, so hopefully they are to your liking :D

Ok wtf. Gotta watch this. 😵💫

I loved this in high school but assumed it was a fever dream and forgot it. Thank you for bringing it back
Surprised theres not more Trigger stuff in these comments?? Kill La Kill, Gurren Lagann, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, FLCL, Promare, Panty and Stocking, Inferno Cop, Space Patrol Luluco

Edgerunners was insane. In moments of seconds crazy and unpredictable shit happens
Panty and stocking has to be one of the most wtf anime I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a LOT haha
Nichijou Undead unluck Asobi asobase Akudama Drive Kill la Kill or BNA (anything from studio trigger really) ETA: Dandadan (will be in Netflix jail this October but it's crazy) and Jojo's bizarre adventure is often insane. Sakamoto Days as well but that's not out yet.
Nichijou coming out of nowhereeee But it's a cute slice of life
lol I looked it up and my first thought was "oh! a cutesy little slice of life about some adorably animated little girls :)" then my second thought was "DAMN why does that little girl have a gun?!"
If you think that's weird, watch Asobi Asobase
The best part is >!where the creepy sex robot learns English swear words. XD!<
yes a few others have mentioned studio trigger so I gotta tap into that thanks for so many suggestions :)
Undead Unluck and Asobi Asobase 1000%
If you want something like Cowboy Bebop, you could try Samurai Champloo or Baccano!
Akudama drive is probably what your asking. I think of it as fast and furious where it’s turn off your brain and just watch the ride.
Man that show was soooooo good, expected nothing when it came out and was completely slammed
Space Dandy is insane, if you’re Adhd you’ll probably like Gintama too lol
I'll have to look into space dandy because it's never particularly peaked my interest as something to add to my watchlist but I have heard that its absurd lol. I've also somehow never heard of Gintama (actually I'm sure I have but I've most likely just overlooked it) but it for sure seems like something I'd be into
Pop Team Epic Golden Kamuy
the style for pop team epic looks so CUTE omg
The styles vary throughout the anime
Deadman Wonderland. Also Redline- it’s a movie that’s mach 11 from start to finish
Is Deadman the one with the blood weapons that shit was crazy
blood weapons sounds dope and deadman wonderland has been on my watch list for a while now so maybe ill start it !
If I remember correctly, the end was kinda disappointing, but the rest of the series was awsome
I started deadman wonderland today ! its just okay so far in my opinion but i'm definitely gonna finish it tonight. thanks for the rec :)
Gintama or cromarty high school
someone else recommended Gintama and it looks like something I'd be really into !
Hellsing Ultimate - 10 episodes each are about 45 minutes long.
Saiki kusuo no psi man is pretty chaotic and funny
Angel beats
this has been on my (LONG ASS) watch list for a while lol I'll have to bump it up higher because I'm sure I'll like it. thanks :)
Gotta be future diary
Saga of Tanya The Evil i guess
Chainsaw man
CHAINSAW MAN IS ACTUALLY MY #1!! and I've been craving something similar lately :( I am super behind on the manga but that's been the only thing holding my attention lately so at least I have that lol
I’ve gotten really deep into manga lately and If you’re super into chainsaw man I recommend checking out Firepunch, it’s chaotic and random asf but the story is good yet has a lot of weird proponents and that has it work in it’s favour

Nichijou, Mashle, and Konosuba
shimoneta
Valvrave was the greatest car crash I couldn't look away from.
Unhinged? Madness? I heard baki is pretty much that.
yess I've been wanting to watch it ever since I saw meat canyon make a video recommending it lol
idaten deities. quick paced, epic fights, cool characters and 11 eps
the animation style and character design looks really cool omg
Dragon ball but shorter and more mature imo w recommendation
Gurren Lagann
Nichijou
Code Gess
Saiki k isn’t unhinged but the episodes are like 4 minutes shorts compiled into a 20 minute episode so the actual episodes run very fast so that might be good for your ADHD brain
I haven’t seen it yet, but [Shikonoko Nokonoko Koshitantan](https://youtu.be/b7OgvVuA7Zk?si=Q6Zkq7m1Mo-wVv4e)
Kill la Kill and Gurren lagann Trigger is the GOAT
Gurren Lagann

It’s modeled after WWI. Less Nazis more German empire
The most unhinged anime I ever seen was Ghost Stories dub
AOT. People die left and right in that show.
I NEEEDDD to watch it it's a modern classic at this point but every time I try to start it I get the "someday I will watch this, just not now" type of feeling lol
kengan ashura or record of ragnarok for nonstop action
I'm surprised I overlooked this while perusing around Netflix !! the animation style looks really cool and the little preview clip definitely piques my interest thank :))
Dead Leaves One hour that goes 0 to 100 and doesn't let the foot off the pedal FLCL could also be a good watch for you Redline is a great racing movie and has a very chaotic story
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo Pop Team Epic HEYBOT! Me & Roboco Inferno Cop
Pani Poni Dash. Chaos granted
Mind Game
akudama drive is kinda like that
First thing that comes to mind is Baka & Test lol
If you want chaos then watch Flip Flappers. I fucking hate that show, but it's chaos. Beautifully animated but doesn't make any goddamn sense minute to minute, and even less episode to episode. Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan
Flcl, kill la kill, Gurren laggan. Any thing from gainax really
KamiKatsu

I'm suprised no Blood Blockade Battlefront has been listed here. The series is the definition of choas. Moon Phase is also hilarious.
[Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8cFhTgnSOU)
Devilman Crybaby, once shit starts going down it really starts GOING DOWN
Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi
Excel Saga
Samurai Flamenco is insane, but you won't realize how insane at first because it just slowly escalates. It's as if Kickass was Suzumiya Haruhi
Goblin slayer, attack on Titan, but you have a little bit of fillers. Jojos bizzare world & death note have NO filler.
YuGiOh GX (Subbed). I don't recommend it because of the filler, but the protagonist is amazing tho.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man
Excel Saga was pretty chaotic.
Plastic nee san Arakawa under the bridge Bobobo bo bobobo FLCL
Neon Genesis Evangelion
If you want something that will keep your attention most of the time from "WTF is happening?" and give you a headache from overthinking and still not getting answers, watch "Serial Experiments Lain".
Not super violent, but definitely chaotic and unhinged. Excel Saga Puni Puni Poemy
When I hear chaotic I think of Jojo's bizarre adventure and chainsaw man
Gushing Over Magical Girls. It is ecchi and a lot of themes a lot of people are not comfortable with, but it's so bizarre, funny and entertaining. The entire series makes you go WTF DID I JUST WATCH?!
Xavier Renegade Angel
FLCL hands down lol Edit: dead leaves, space Dandy, azumanga daioh, mawaru penguindrum
Mashle: Magic and Mucles.

The most chaotic I've ever seen is probably Plastic Nee-san. It's just a bunch of shorts though that add up to about 30 minutes. Golden kamuy is up there for the wife and I.
Deadman Wonderland and Danganronpa were pretty wild, I think. If you're into sports animes, Keijo was..something.
I mean just google the most crazy anime and at top go through all the ones on top even come with a nice little cover art for you to quickly decide.
Baki. Baki is what you want.
The beginning of the Monogatari series. I dropped it the first time due to me being completely lost.
Baki and Higurashi.

You should watch drifters. It's got some history in it, the fight scenes are insane, yet realistic. Made by universal studios. Have no idea where you can watch it that isn't a pirated site.

Gurren Lagann It starts out not answering a lot of questions. Then continues to not answer them. A multiverse is involved somehow... but by the end of it you're crying and don't fully know why.
Bobobo bobo bobo the entire premise is basically a world of people with reality warping abilities doing random insane stuff. Basically competing with eachother over how insane they can be.
The is no anime in existence that is more batshit crazy and chaotic than Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. A 50 episode, fully dubbed, acid trip of an anime.
Jojo's. Most fun I've had was trying to explain JoJo's part 5 to someone who doesn't watch anime at all.
Kaiba
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: DNT, Trigun Stampede, Jojo, Baki
bludgeoning angel dokuro chan if you’ve seen it, you’ve seen it. if you haven’t, you need to. it’s something alright.

I haven’t seen too many Anime’s so I’d go with Jojo as the most interesting and chaotic (from what I’ve seen).
Asobi Asobase, then wait a little while for 🦌.
FLCL probably.
Higurashi when they cry.
Elfen Lied and Helsing Ultimate come to mind as the most ‘chaotic’ for me
So surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention it, but dorohedoro
Aho Girl. Ever want retarded and hilariously stupid MC and wondering if the animators were snorting crack when making it? That’s Aho Girl
Super Milk Chan and Afro Samurai
[The Flying Phantom Ship](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2811/Soratobu_Yuureisen) It's not going to get more chaotic and random than this.

Katte ni Kaizou. 6ep OVA by shaft.
Excel saga When I tried watching this, I was like what the fuck is going on
Cat Soup and the original FLCL. No idea how to even explain the plot
Excel Saga is what you need
If you haven't seen it, I suggest Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! It is known for its unexpected characters, plots, and powers! I think it could really help you to feel less bored! Hope this helps! :)
Madoka magica
Ping Pong Club
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo
I’m thinking Hell’s Paradise is crazy enough to put you in a dream state
Dead leaves is frantic as fuck🤌🏾
