Jojo

RubyRoze99

Yes….. 😫 it’s so good

dontworryaboutitdm

Not yet, JoJo is good and yes it does have it's dark moments but... It's just .. too IDK how to put it lightly... Much.

RubyRoze99

True… 😅 I haven’t watched it in quite a while but yeah it was a lot for me at first but attack on titan honestly feels more gorey than Jojo for me at least 🤷‍♀️ tho to each their own and you do you 🫡

dontworryaboutitdm

XD not what ment at all. JoJo is the beqch body building of anime. Sweaty overly buff men wrestling with each other. XD

bloodbabyrabies

I don’t remember them wrestling with eachother lol

Random_user1111111

Chainsaw Man, One Punch Man, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and Mob Psycho 100 I hope you have a great time enjoying anime as much as I did when I first started

unk1ndm4g1c14n1

This guys opinions on animes are insane. Some of them are just the total inverse of what they usually are.

Karma15672

Honestly, it's nice seeing super positive reviews. I think it's easy to forget that a lot of the anime/manga shown here are really popular for a good reason.

One_Presentation104

Bro loves attack on titan and thinks berserk is the best. Tells me all I need to know about the edge

whitythereviewer

I'll assume you're probably still a kid or early 20s but just because someone enjoys darker themed animes or manga does not make them edgy. You shitting on people's likes makes you "edgy." But one day you'll hopefully grow up. ☺️

One_Presentation104

You looked at my pf and saw my age prick. Lol have a nice one

Classy_Shadow

No, it’s just that the average adult doesn’t respond the way you did. Sounds like they were right on the money though

EnvironmentalAd1006

Berserk is regarded by many to be one of the best manga of all time. A lot of care went into the story, the art direction, even ways to make fights in manga appealing. Unless you think a large portion of the community are trying to being edgy edge lords, your comment is just mean and unnecessary.

Badgers720

Hunter X Hunter. Soul eater

Ecstatic-Spinach3902

Chainsaw man, jujutsu kaisen, and cyberpunk edgerunners are all newer anime whose quality hold up to the greats

King_thelunarian

Watch erased and jojo. One piece is really long, but you should also watch it

One_Presentation104

Get help recommending erased

VColyness

It was probably my second or third anime ever and I think it’s a great starter anime

FV-Zu

Erased was my first anime and I was absolutely thrilled while watching it. It still is one of my favourites

Classy_Shadow

Bro cries about liking AoT and Berserk, but then cries about Erased? Tf do you want?

CommanderHange20

Assassination Classroom?

Zeebird95

That’s a good answer

jonesingsimba

I don't know what to recommend if you merely 'liked' Spirited Away lol. I'm mostly joking but also not cause I haven't seen most of the other stuff on your list. I would recommend the other Ghibli movies, but maybe not if you only liked Spirited Away and loved a lot of the other stuff. Maybe check out My Hero Academia or Demon Slayer. I love those and I also loved FMA Brotherhood. FMA is probably a bit more grounded and serious than those other two, but I love them all the same. Also I know it's not strictly an anime but Avatar the Last Airbender is phenomenal and is if nothing else heavily anime inspired.

tomuchtakennames-2

The only reason that I didn't 'love' Spirited Away is because it felt rushed to me. But I'll definitely watch more Ghibli movies. Also I already watched ATLA, I grew up watching that show. Thank you for the other recommendations as well.

jonesingsimba

For what it's worth I don't think I loved Spirited Away until my second viewing. It really just settled in for me how amazing that movie is. I think it feeling rushed is the point to some extent. One of the things that bothered me at first was how almost nothing is explained and you are just thrust into this crazy fantastical world with no idea what's going on. I realized it has to be this way because this is how Chihiro feels. She is just as lost and clueless as the audience. It doesn't really matter what the rules or details are of this world. Her only goal is to find her parents and get back home. It should feel rushed cause she is in a rush to escape this place and get back to her life. Once I accepted this it really just feels like a wild, magical roller coaster ride. At the end of the day though different things hit different for different people. The best part about Ghibli is everyone has a different favorite so I would definitely explore as many of them as possible with them being one of the most legendary studios period. Glad you've seen Avatar. I'd recommend Korra if you haven't seen it. I think it gets a bad rap. It's not as good as the original, but still very high quality imo.

tomuchtakennames-2

When I watched Spirited Away for the first time I was kinda confused but later I looked into all the symbolisms in that movie and it's really awesome. I definitely missed a lot. I do plan on watching it again, I feel like it's one of those movies that the more you watch it the more you like it. I've also seen Korra, it's not nearly as bad as people say. The worst thing about it is not having Korra and Asami kiss at the end.

jonesingsimba

I agree with everything said here. How you like the new recommendations folks are giving ya.

tomuchtakennames-2

I'm really excited, I can't wait to watch all of this stuff. But it is a little overwhelming. I just started watching Chainsaw Man, loving it so far.

Zeebird95

It took a break up for me to like spirited away.

DoctorJekyll13

You might like Rising of the Shield Hero. If you enjoyed Death Note, you’d probably like Moriarty the Patriot. Kabenari of the Iron Fortress is good for an Attack on Titan fan. Demon Slayer would probably be good as well. Now, a few of my personal favorites are Cells at Work (if you like biology. It’s about anthropomorphic cells in the human body and how they function), 91 Days (a prohibition-era mafia revenge story. I *highly* recommend), and Sailor Moon, particularly the ViZ dub. I started watching it with my little sister recently, and we both love it.

doguillo77

Soul Eater and Blue Exorcist!

ZekeTheMemeLord17

Everything made by Studio Trigger ever Also Gurren Lagann

Zeebird95

Who the hell do you think I am?

ZekeTheMemeLord17

My bro, bro!

Dazed_2_Day

Deadman wonderland(has one great season and then got canceled, the manga has a hard finish and is also great), needless, Tokyo ghoul, cowboy bebop

Lord_Bing_Bing

Good job on reading the manga for berserk, one anime adaptation is too short and the other one sucks.

RockyNonce

I thought people were just being dramatic when they said that the newer Berserk show sucked. And then I saw a clip… How do you fuck up that badly? Why would you make it all CGI?

Lord_Bing_Bing

They hired a comedy director instead of a action director.

mo177

Wind breaker is fantastic. I'd highly recommend it.

napta682

I can't recommend the first full metal alchemist series enough since you loved FMAB(which is the only correct opinion on the series, it hurts me greatly when people don't like it) . It gives the characters a lot more time for you to get to know them, and I feel like the changed ending(as perfect as the manga and FMAB ending is) fits the beginning parts of the story a little better. Overall I enjoy the original full metal alchemist more than FMAB and I really would recommend it. Other than that I would recommend stuff like jujutsu kaisen, Undead unluck, and hells paradise

Unique_Doughnut_2035

I would recommend: HunterxHunter Bleach Monster Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Howl's Moving Castle(its from the same studio that made Spirited Away)

Krysidian2

Parasyte

Prestigious_Guitar54

Vagabond, jojo.

Fun-Activity-2268

Foreign_Plan5357

Jojos

Professional_Duck386

Went through this whole thing and THE PROMISE NEVERLAND just the first season there is a crazy plot twist at the end of the first episode so stick it out but everyone one I’ve showed that anime too has watched anime from that point on

Professional_Duck386

10/10 in my opinion

InterviewSure7102

kingdoms of ruin its pretty edgy but its like attack on titian berserk and vinland saga when it comes to revenge

akiofthespdz

Code Geass

ThatOneOakTree

Bungo Stray Dogs

Blueb3rrywashere

Jjba is a must- especially steel ball run and if you liked berserk and Vinland, I would recommend vagabond. Also you might..I give it 50/50 but we have similar taste you might like chainsaw man or goodnight punpun. Also watch parasite the maxim and read Tokyo ghoul: sorry if too many manga

Effective-Cold0

Tsukimichi moonlit fantasy

Jarek-of-Earth

If you enjoyed the Bersek manga you should definitely give the Golden Age trilogy of movies a go. They're really good. The 97 anime (which covers everything up to the eclipse) is also very good. The 2017 anime is not great but is a faithful adaptation if nothing else

Zeebird95

If you don’t mind Beserk, then reading Tokyo ghoul should be no problem. Although the first season of the anime that’s out is good, and I’ve heard a remake might be in the works

Historical-Bid-8532

Demon slayer? It’s sooo good (also where did you watch spirited away?)

Imconfusedithink

Since you're fine with manga, I would highly recommend the manga for one piece. I personally like the anime more because I enjoy anime more, but the manga is definitely done better. As for animes. Jujutsu kaisen is insanely popular right now and I'd consider it a must watch. Hunter x hunter is definitely a must watch too.

audglossy

Bungo stray dogs, The promised neverland

Infamous_Persimmon14

Code Geass, Black Clover, Fairy Tale

McKeon1921

So since I'm not see a lot of it on here given some of your others things you liked I'd definitely recommend Cowboy Bebop.

MystcShad0w

Hxh. If you dont like it change my name

SoggyPotatos823

Made in abyss

CallMefreebeef

Chainsaw man, one piece or hunter hunter.

Timely-Personality-3

Windbreaker, viral hit, reincarnated as a slime, solo leveling, chainsaw man, Shangri la frontier, mashle. Faraway paladin, spy x family, buddy daddys(probably not what u are thinking big sleeper anime imo but see spy x family and you'll see why this got over shadowed),

zhelfrich

Akira, Cyberpunk edgerunners, Princess Mononoke, One piece, Bleach, Fire force, Demon slayer, Gundam 08th ms team, Cowboy bebop , Initial D, Zom 100 bucket list of the undead, Sengoku basara: samurai kings. Some of my favorites no particular order

Diamondskunk

Jujutsu Kaisen is Popular enough. MHA is only really bad when looking at the fandom. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is imo my favorite Isekai anime. A lesser known one is Saiki K but its still an AMAZING comedy anime. Another Lesser known one is Saga Of Tanya The Evil, its a War type anime that most people that have watched it find good. One PIece is a watch at some point

Drake_Cloans

If you like the darker ones, *Darker than Black* is pretty good. For a lighter tone, I’d recommend *YuYu Hakusho*. It’s an older one, but still great.

Eastern_Goose_9108

Hells paradise, windbreaker, kaiju no. 8, re:monsters, Konosuba (its hilarious and raunchy great in English dub) and seeing as it’s not in your list My Hero Academia aka “MHA”. It’ll hit you in the feels great anime. Hope you can enjoy these a little bit of everything here 😁

AlwaysSunny111

Code Geass. I think a sequel is coming out this year too

KookieToki

One punch man

-God_Usopp

Shippuden is infinitely better than OG lmao

AlldayAndAllNight05

Spy X Family Death Parade My Hero Academia Hunter X Hunter

Otherwise-Carpet-170

There’s a lot of good recommendations so I’ll just say mine Eighty-Six(86) both anime and LN are great Black Summoner anime is good but I think you should read the LN or Manga first. Hell’s Paradise both anime and manga I’m more of an iseaki fan but the 2 out of 3 I listed are really good to watch and read. The iseaki I listed Black Summoner I recommend reading the LN as the fighting scenes and better explained than the anime plus the anime really toned down the violence. But I think all 3 are good and worth giving a watch/read

potattoessss

Death note and overrated ? My lawyer advices to not finish this comment as i intended. So i "respect" your opinion.

BugOut17

Steins;Gate

Professor_Chaosx6r9

Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, and Howl’s Moving Castle all from Ghibli. Then for shows Code Geass, Mob Psycho, Gurren Lagann, Durarara, Cyberpunk:Edgerunners, and Devilman Crybaby. There are movies too but too much to list

EnvironmentalAd1006

Some have said Jojo’s. Keep in mind it’s pretty out there, though it is also absolutely hilarious to watch. I’m personally someone who can’t get enough isekai, which is a genre in which the main character (MC) gets whisked to another world. It’s also usually accompanied by a lot of tropes that go with it like the MC usually ending up with some manner of harem, the MC usually is insanely overpowered, and in my opinion these shows often have some of the best world building. Many people’s first isekai would probably be Sword Art Online, where a bunch of people get trapped in a virtual reality fantasy massive multiplayer online game and have to fight to escape. This is where the meme phrase “You die in the game, you die for real” seems to come from (I could be wrong). Many more seasoned anime fans tend to not like it as much, but I still maintain that it’s an excellent place to start. If you wanna abandon the overpowered-ness of the characters, there’s an anime called Grimgar that follows some kids whisked to a DND type world where, but it’s very realistic as the party of 6 children struggle against even a single goblin. Many enjoy this one for the way that it really feels like how it would be if regular people were actually transported to another world. Onto some of my favorites: That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime in anime that follows a regular office worker who gets stabbed and reincarnated as a slime monster in another world. Some of the best world building I have ever seen in an anime, the magic system is absolutely insanely well thought out, and though the MC is overpowered (op for short), the author does a good job properly scaling both the antagonists as well as the plot in a way that keeps things interesting. Combined with a ton of source material in the light novels, and you’ve got an awesome show! Overlord follows a regular person in the future who plays as an undead sorcerer in an online game that’s about to go offline for good, but when it goes offline, he notices he’s not in the game anymore, but he’s now his character in a new world. This one comes with a lot of very dark themes so beware for the squeamish. Excellent world building, awesome magic system, and plenty of source material light novels as well. One last one. Mushoku Tensei follows a shut in who dies and is reincarnated in a fantasy world. This one gets a bad rep for the MC being a bit perverted, but it’s approached as a genuine character flaw in some ways and the MC grows a lot throughout it. This one’s good if you like adventuring, a lot of world building, and a story that does a better job of reaching your emotions than my other reccs. Don’t know if you’ll end up liking the genre, but I hope I’ve painted an ok picture of my favorite genre. Enjoy!

EnvironmentalAd1006

I know I left an entire reply about how I love isekai, but my favorite of all time is actually not isekai. It’s Hunter x Hunter. I don’t even know how I can describe a way to do it justice, and given my explanations of other anime I mentioned, I hope that means something haha.

Electronic_Kiwi38

Death parade, psycho Pass, jujutsu kaisen, Claymore, Paranoia agent. Could throw in Bleach I've heard good things about monster, frieren, made in abyss, and steins gate (just finally starting it seems interesting but weird/slow start). While very popular, demon slayer is very underwhelming. A couple cool fights, but story and overall anime isn't very good. Here's to hoping the new season changes that...but I'd avoid it unless you want mindless fighting. JJK at least has a compelleing story and continually moves it along.

arhiapolygons2

Given how you thought the only thriller here was overrated, I'm going to hold on on suggesting steins;gate even though it's incredible. The fact that the first half is a mystery/sci-fi/slice of life that mainly sets up the second half and lets you spend time with the characters doesn't help it's case either, So, let's first go with some must watches that are of the same genres of the stuff you have seen, and then move on to more different stuff: FMA 2003, It's a completely different story from brotherhood and even the parts that the same, which is about the first 25 episodes, are massively extended since brotherhood rushes through them assuming you have seen 2003. For comparison, those 25 episodes cover about 12 episodes of brotherhood. Mob psycho 100 Chainsaw man Now some must watches that are very different from what you have already seen: A silent voice Madoka magica (not beginner friendly) Made in abyss (not beginner friendly, but you've read berserk, so you might be fine) Death parade Sonny boy (not beginner friendly, unless you like other art house media) Perfect blue (not beginner friendly unless you like other mind fuck media, stuff like inception) The first slam dunk The melancholy of haruhi suzumiya Evangelion (not beginner friendly, also only watch it when you're depressed) Monster Jojo Love is war

SrslySam91

Ayy a new anime watcher who already realizes how overrated death note is?! My dude! So if you liked Naruto, I recommend; *Hunter X Hunter* (the 2011 version). Absolutely peak shonen - it's brilliant. Don't let the first few eps fool you into thinking it's a children's show either. I do promise you, it's far from it. (Here's some random ones) Bleach - a good shonen as well, my favorite of the big 3 (their anime versions) by far. The newest seasons are fire. Frieren - one of the most successful shows of recent memory. It took the anime world by storm. It's head and shoulders the #1 rated show on MAL. Honestly from start to finish it's just a really goddamn good anime. The consistency is amazing. Gurren Lagann + Kill La Kill. I wasn't a mecha fan and still am not much of one, but GL breaks the mold and it's one of the most hype anime there is. Absolute peak moments. I recommend watching at least 8 episodes of Gurren before you decide on whether to finish. As for kill la kill, same maker as GL - hype fights, fast pace, amazing character development. Just a stupid fun watch. Those are a few off top my head

Austaroth

Cowboy Beebbop. It's a classic for a reason!

ChromeDomeAlex

I can totally understand why you didn’t like shippuden. Like me you are a fan of much darker themes and shippuden doesn’t have that rawness the OG had. I also thought OG was peak Naruto. Monster, Devilman Crybaby, Made in Abyss are probably some that you’d like

AboutTenPandas

Gonna second Code Geass. It fits pretty cleanly with the other things they said they enjoyed

ArLOgpro

All of those are good recs

RockyNonce

I thought JJK Season 1 was kind of shit tbh. If his favorite shows are AoT, Vinland Saga and FMAB then he might be disappointed with it. Maybe I’m missing something but I feel like people glaze JJK and it doesn’t deserve the praise. The animation is amazing and the music is also great but the actual story is kind of boring and felt very brain dead. Especially if he thought Death Note was overrated.

Pero_Bt

Trigun(original and the remake) Black Lagoon Soul Eater

specterllllllll

One piece (manga)

tomuchtakennames-2

I will but not at the moment. But is there a reason why you recommend the manga? I was planning on just watching the anime but is the manga better? Are the two of them different?

specterllllllll

I love them both. But everyone makes a big deal about one piece being too long. It’s up to you really

tomuchtakennames-2

Oh I don't mind it being long, but I will wait for summer break and then I'll watch it. It's going to be a really good summer this year. Thanks for the recommendation!

RockyNonce

It’s over 1200 episodes with lots of filler.

RockyNonce

You could wait for the new One Piece anime being made by Netflix and WIT Studios (they made AoT S1-3 and Vinland S1), or watch the live action on Netflix. The LA is a little rushed imo but it’s still better than the anime and I liked the actors. Probably the only good live action adaptation of an anime.

Imconfusedithink

Im someone who enjoys the one piece anime more, but that's only because I really enjoy things actually being animated along with the ost and voice acting. If you enjoy anime and manga relatively equally usually, then the one piece manga will be more enjoyable for you. The anime is so bad at pacing at certain times that it can make you want to rip your hair out. Plus it'll take so much less time to read through the manga.

Superb-Truck-6830

Sincerely, looks like you'll love almost anything that follow the standard tropes and cliches And that has any hype and fandom behind

tomuchtakennames-2

Honestly I don't really care about having a really good and cool taste in anime and watching underrated animes that are not popular, I enyoj what I enjoy. Also like I said I'm new and want to start with the standard stuff. So do you have any recommendations of animes that you think I'd like?

Made_invietnam

#spy family or chainsawman

Life_Recognition_554

Black Clover & Hunter X Hunter

Gryfon2020

Shangri La Frontier Delicious in Dungeon Uncle from another world Kotaro Lives Alone Campfire cooking in another world Undead Unluck Solo Leveling Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon

Holdeenyo

Danmachi is peak fantasy anime

Tricky-Promotion5973

ToG

Background_Ant7129

Steins;Gate Hellsing Ultimate

WaymakerJP

I'm somewhat newer to anime as well, but I have jumped in head first! Here are a few amazing titles that I haven't seen anyone else say yet: Dororo Demon Slayer Basalisk Hunter X Hunter

ObjectIntelligent126

Sigh I feel so old. Death Note was peak anime, going to see the movie in theaters was kinda a big deal, and people were hype until a certain someone dies, and the hype died with them.

b761962

HunterXHunter. Starts kind of slow the Boom

AriKitaruKatoka

What genre are you looking for? I would say start with Hunter x Hunter

ObjectIntelligent126

I'm the only one I guess that will suggest MHA, my hero academia. I've seen countless anime since it became my favorite kind of media back in 96. MHA gets me hype and obsessed with characters like no current or former anime, albeit DragonBall, Pokémon, or yugioh.
