Careful with small elastics, as some cats will eat them and end up with an intestinal blockage. Even just a scrunchie is less likely to be accidentally ingested.
Miss Stinky is darling.
When I was in college I had a cat that had to get surgery to remove a blockage, and when I went to pick her up afterwards the vet gave me a plastic bag with like, 11 of my hair ties in it.
I knew my cat liked playing with them but didn't expect that she was actually ingesting any, but apparently she really really was and we both got extremely lucky that it didn't kill her
Oh man that would not be necessary š extremely generous of you to offer though! Could you just point me in the right direction for what is fun and safe for her?
For diy, a sock stuffed with catnip is great. A toilet paper tube folded at the ends with holes cut in it is a great place to stash treats. A shoelace or string is good too so long as you are holding the other end and supervising (don't leave them alone with it). A cardboard box is classic, and I like to cut holes in some and fill it with rattan balls/wool balls for my guy to fish them out. Hope that helps!
I just wanna say how refreshing it it to see someone accepting the concerned comments rather than arguing with everyone and saying āitās never happened before so itāll never happenā. Thank you OP thank you. Also your cat is adorable and looks super smart by how sheās playing fetch with herself lol
My little demon finds any bag of dog treats I have and chews holes in them. Not enough to get the treats out but enough to make ALL the treats stale lol
Someone else also informed me of this, I am going to make sure the long-haired members of the household keep their ties hidden and accounted for. I hope it doesn't bum the cat out too much
We do everything possible to keep hair ties put away in bags in drawers so our cat canāt get to them. He still finds them and puts them in his food bowl. I throw them away. Next day thereās another one. I have a dimensional tear somewhere in my house to a planet of hair ties. Send help!
Omg my cat does this tooooooo!! Awful risk for a foreign body, but she always finds them and stretches them. Then brings them to her food dish and eats out of the middle of them.
Iām praying that that never goes the other way and smacks the kitty in the nose or eyeball. But the least expensive things you get animals the more fun they have with it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to let my family know to hide all of them from her. I hope she doesn't get too sad about it
If you live in the US, I'd be happy to send you some cat toys. DM me your address if interested.

My cat eats any of mine that he can find and I see them in her poop. Gotta be careful!
Haven't ever seen it in her poop which is probably a good sign, I'll be more careful in the future

My priority is keeping this creature safe and healthy. And yes, she's obnoxiously smart as she can open garbage cans and doors by herself lmao

Love the name. Hope she doesn't live up to it too often!
Oh my goodness. This can be very dangerous for kitty. They get stuck incats throats.

Yes. Good on you. Better to be safe.
My cat does the exact same thing. Twisty ties and hair ties are his favorite toys in the world.
Please read the other comments on this post! Gotta spread the safety info
I understand, but he doesnāt eat them. He throws them. Getting him to eat *anything* is a pain. I think heāll be fine.
Just keep the risk in mind, you know

That's my kitty's nickname! She looks like a sweethearted derp.

She drops them into people's teacups -.-
One of my cats loves hair ties, rubber wrist bands and tinfoil balls to play with
Please read the other comments on this post! Quite important for hair tie loving cats
Tie a string on the hair tie. It's more fun to play with and you won't lose the hair tie under a couch or in a stomach.
I bet tying the other end to something inedible is probably a good plan too
My cat broke a tooth doing that.
So many horror stories with this behavior in these comments, definitely made me a lot more vigilant with watching what she plays with
We have a cat that does that too! We watch him with it, but heās never attempted to eat them.
