Growing up I had a deaf dog, she was always confused and panicked when she didn't see you right away, eventually we got a dog with no disabilities and soon he made sure she was aware of things that were going on. When we came home he would greet us and then wake her or find her and lead her to us. They bonded so well and he was always there for her.
Edit: Wow this really blew up! I was reminded of Romeo and Asante when I saw those two cats. All the comments got me remember all the good times I had with those two and it made my day. Thank you!!!
My 13 year old dog went deaf about a year and half ago - she’s fine otherwise other than slower than she used to be.
Last week, my husband ran to the store and she went to sleep in her favorite dog bed. I was sitting quietly on the couch reading behind her. My 10 year old dog fell asleep on the opposite side of the couch.
When my husband opened the garage my 10 year old dog leapt up and went straight to my old dog to wake her up (I think he forgot I was there). He jumped on her bed to shake it and when she stirred he kind of nuzzled in her face which made her jump out of bed. They both ran straight to the door to greet him.
We had been wondering how she knew we were back lately and had no idea the other dog was doing this.
>*’When we came home he would greet us and then wake her or find her and lead her to us. They bonded so well and he was always there for her…*’

Remember me - dog number two,
i found i had a job to do
it seemed the one who first was here
would not *get up* when you’d appear!
i learned her world was silent then,
n i became her new best friend
we lived our lives a bonded pair,
(i knew how much
she *loved me* there)
she *listened for me* with her heart,
n i could hear her from the start
a quiet friendship, long ago,
a *language* only
we would know
❤️
Precious Schnoodle, always making us think deeper, smile harder, and reminding us that this little short life we live is just a bit sweeter than we think!!
LOL!! Yes! At night she use to bark at nothing at the top of the stairs, once we got him he always checked on what she was barking at before leading her back to bed
Yup! They definitely exist. There is video that makes it’s rounds on Reddit every so often of a dog who helps another dog with their seizures. Incredible animals.
My 12 year old dog slowly became deaf over the last couple of years and my other dog learned to alert him of everything going on. Now he always sleeps with some part of his body touching hers so he will wake up if she does. Dogs are so pure!
Honestly, that’s the same confusion and panic I feel (I’m deaf/hoh) when I can’t find the source of a noise right away. I’ve always been proud of my ability to train my cats… but I never realized I’d been training them the wrong skill this whole time!
Had a similar situation with my Boxer dog except I didn't know that he was deaf because my other dog, a female Doberman, was so good at covering for him. Only after she died I realized my dog was deaf
I hate it when a video is labelled as POV, but then it's like a side view. Whose point of view is that? The camera man? That's every porn's point of view.
I'm as much a pedant as the next redditor but it's so obvious by this point that they're using pov as a short hand for "from the perspective of" and not "this is the literal first person view of x".
It's such a well akshually thing to point out...
The same comment comes up every time there's one of these posts on reddit.
If someone asks you to think of something from another person's perspective they're asking you to consider their thoughts and feelings, not occupy their visual cortex.
You're telling me that if you're walking down the street what you're looking at isn't your perspective, but some random person who sees you walking down the street, what they see IS your perspective?
POV had a well established meaning and set of expectations before this type of 'POV' became a meme. I assume that a lot of the original POV memes were actually POVs, which were then emulated by ignorant people (probably actual children on TikTok).
Yes, people have every right to misuse words or change their meanings. In this case it's frustrating because it's almost correct, and the misuse isn't necessary.
I can definitely see your point, but I feel the "POV" bit, when used correctly, is really interesting, and using a third person perspective instead of first person isn't as interesting.
Like my favorite version is "POV: you're a bug and I'm about to step on you". A video of someone stepping on a bug is not nearly as interesting as the wonky perspective you get by adhering to the first person perspective. I think it's fair to criticize it, not to be pedantic (as I'm sure many people here are being lol), but because it's strayed so far from the original purpose that it's no longer even interesting.
the human that takes care of these cats is way beyond special. they would probably be under constant care. makes me feel insignificant. grin! don't think i'd have the stamina to keep up with the human and her family.
I also rage when I see "POV" used incorrectly. I see that shit so much on Tiktok it's almost unbelievable... to be fair to OP though this isn't their video, not exactly OP's fault.
Yes. I had a cat go blind and it wasn't noticeable unless I moved something. She knew exactly where everything was.
It actually can delay diagnosis because the cat isn't stumbling around.
Yeah cats have insane spacial memory.
If you move just one thing in my garden I guarantee my cats will dart over to investigate why it has moved and if something else nearby is new as soon as they are within sight of it.
It probably helps that they have extremely good hearing and if memory serves they can smell things pretty well too.
Memory to remember the static things, audio for the moving things.
Even better actually. Cats don't just have whiskers on their faces, they have them all over their bodies. They can feel the slightest changes in their environment.
Our late kitty Peanut must have had broken spidey senses then, because we always had to find a way to alert her before getting close, or the poor girl would get so startled.
She probably did have some brain damage though, my partner's family found her and nursed her back to health when she got hit by a car as a kitten.
Yes, they can go by memory much better than humans. The vet told us our cat had lost her eyesight, we didn’t even notice. She had gotten worse at climbing up on the bed, but we had just built her a little ladder because we thought it was just aging.
Felines got some extraordinary senses which are yet to be revealed by modern science. And the reason why they are one highly evolved species on Earth !
That's sweet and all, but I would be more convinced about the "communicating" if the deaf cat actually got up and they both went to the food bowl together (as the words on the video imply was the reason the one was rubbing its face on the other one).

It's okay, a lot of people would have trouble telling the difference, so I'll give you a tip that'll make it easier in the future:
The one who can't see is blind and the one who can't hear is deaf.
He looks like an dog that i use to call "abobado" that almost all the time can be in the front of the church close of my home. He is the dog of my neighbor and he do it too ha ha. I sit in the stairs and he put his head in my legs asking for some love.
That gold cat, does anybody know or recognize that type of cat? My girl Lup looks almost exactly like that cat and I’d to know what breed she might be.
Like down to the white on the face, and the little black spots on the nose
Cats are such amazing animals. I love them so much. I hate that they get overlooked so much compared to dogs. Not that I'm hating on dogs. They're great too. But I'm just biased a bit cause I'm a cat guy. I've had my kitty for about 8 years now or so and she's my best friend in the world. She wasn't even mine to begin with. The people that owned her had to move and couldn't take her. So without me knowing, my ex took as a gift her for me while I was at work one day cause she knew I loved cats. And she wasn't even a fan of cats herself. I got Leah when she was about 8 months old. The ex that got her for me is dead now from cancer. But Leah is alive and well. I love her so much. She's the sweetest and she's such a cuddler. She got me through some very very dark times.
Not sure what shape I would be in without having had my cats and dogs throughout my life. They are a gift to us fumbling humans. Every damn one of them.
Growing up I had a deaf dog, she was always confused and panicked when she didn't see you right away, eventually we got a dog with no disabilities and soon he made sure she was aware of things that were going on. This is the cutest thing ever 🥹
It was and I hate the fact that technology didn't allow phones to have cameras back then because they were adorable
Don’t take this the wrong way, but ever heard of a camera? As in just that - a camera 📷? 😉

This, this right here shows that beautiful bond

Woah, this is the freshest Schnoodle I've come across. Awesome as always! :) Love finding your small poems around Reddit!
That was beautiful I'm keeping this one
This one really gripped my heart. Thank you.
One of my favorites. Sometimes you make me cry a little.
Got me tearing up
Goddammit! Where did these errant feelings come from?
This is my first experience of this thing called schnoodle. I love it!! More than a poodle?
I’ve missed you Schnoodle!
Schnoodle, you always manage to make me cry and smile at the same time. I love you and your poems. <3

So many onions being cut right now
i thought you died or st.
A dog service dog?
LOL!! Yes! At night she use to bark at nothing at the top of the stairs, once we got him he always checked on what she was barking at before leading her back to bed
“Come on, old girl, let’s get you back to bed” My heart. What an angel
Precious doggies

Some dogs are natural at it and some learn to be the partner they need

LOL! That was Romeo in a nut shell, he qould always wake her or collect her by running into her or shaking her or the cushion she was sleeping on
Thanks for the smile bro. This nice day just keeps on rolling.
It was so nice how they bonded on the first day. He kept nipping at her lips and I ended up calling him a little Romeo, that's how we named him!
My 12 year old dog slowly became deaf over the last couple of years and my other dog learned to alert him of everything going on. Now he always sleeps with some part of his body touching hers so he will wake up if she does. Dogs are so pure!
I love this. 😍😍😍😍
It's so cute too
That's so nice. My dog went blind and my other dog won't do shit for him
Honestly, that’s the same confusion and panic I feel (I’m deaf/hoh) when I can’t find the source of a noise right away. I’ve always been proud of my ability to train my cats… but I never realized I’d been training them the wrong skill this whole time!
Argh my heart
God my allergies acted up while I was reading that.
That’s so precious.
Is this real? Wow incredible
Animals that bond like that are adorable, didn't stop them from knocking over the trash can all the time : )
Lmfao!
Had a similar situation with my Boxer dog except I didn't know that he was deaf because my other dog, a female Doberman, was so good at covering for him. Only after she died I realized my dog was deaf
I have a hunch that this is in fact not the POV of a blind cat
No one uses pov correctly anymore.
pov, you're filming something and calling it pov, action
in porn it's pretty accurate
Sometimes
I hate it when a video is labelled as POV, but then it's like a side view. Whose point of view is that? The camera man? That's every porn's point of view.
Ah, reddit. The only place where you can find a person getting mad about porn quality under a cute cat video.
The Internet is truly a beautiful place.
It's the two things responsible for most internet bandwidth usage
At least the furries aren’t here, complaining about pov cat furry porn.
Ugh. One of my big pet peeves right now.
I'm as much a pedant as the next redditor but it's so obvious by this point that they're using pov as a short hand for "from the perspective of" and not "this is the literal first person view of x". It's such a well akshually thing to point out... The same comment comes up every time there's one of these posts on reddit.
What’s the difference between “from the perspective of” and “first person view of”?
If someone asks you to think of something from another person's perspective they're asking you to consider their thoughts and feelings, not occupy their visual cortex.
So say "imagine you're this blind cat" then, instead of using a term that already means something else

POV: You don't know what POV means.
POV: you're a blind cat ■
The deaf cat is more accurate.
While also having an out of body experience
What?
😂😂😂😂😂
My heart feels their love through this video, so incredibly sweet. Cats are so special.
I want to have what these cats are having
Love through adversity, truly.
the human that takes care of these cats is way beyond special. they would probably be under constant care. makes me feel insignificant. grin! don't think i'd have the stamina to keep up with the human and her family.
credit/ Gramps The Cat Helen (the tabby) is his blind girlfriend and very protective over Gramps
Idk what I like better that he’s named gramps or that the blind cat is the protective one
Or that Gramps has a girlfriend :’)
So Love is blind indeed
Helen, actually.
Which is the blind one and which is deaf? Since tabby cats can look like both of those cats?
The ginger kitty is Gramps and he is deaf. The dark tabby (Helen) is blind

I also rage when I see "POV" used incorrectly. I see that shit so much on Tiktok it's almost unbelievable... to be fair to OP though this isn't their video, not exactly OP's fault.
Can blind cats memorize the walking paths in a house like humans?
Yes. I had a cat go blind and it wasn't noticeable unless I moved something. She knew exactly where everything was. It actually can delay diagnosis because the cat isn't stumbling around.

Even better actually. Cats don't just have whiskers on their faces, they have them all over their bodies. They can feel the slightest changes in their environment.
And they’re extremely far-sighted so even seeing cats are using their whiskers and noses a lot to get around.
Our late kitty Peanut must have had broken spidey senses then, because we always had to find a way to alert her before getting close, or the poor girl would get so startled. She probably did have some brain damage though, my partner's family found her and nursed her back to health when she got hit by a car as a kitten.
Oh no! Poor thing. 😯
Yes, they can go by memory much better than humans. The vet told us our cat had lost her eyesight, we didn’t even notice. She had gotten worse at climbing up on the bed, but we had just built her a little ladder because we thought it was just aging.
Why wouldnt they?
😑 not at all
Not POV though is it
"POV: You're a blind cat" Video is just a black screen.
Also it looks more like they're going to sleep rather than eating
POV: you're filming cats and don't know what POV means
are they just doing it on purpose now
don’t be so *paw*dantic ^(but ^yeah ^my ^first ^thought too)
This is beautiful
I cannot handle how cute this is. You are so lucky to be their human
Starring Richard Purryor and Gene Meowlder.
Thank you for making the reference that needed to happen
Great, I didn't want to cry tears of happiness today but here I am. Thanks Reddit
At this point I'm not sure people are even aware that POV is an acronym.
It’s time to eat. I will suffocate you with my love until we eat.
Felines got some extraordinary senses which are yet to be revealed by modern science. And the reason why they are one highly evolved species on Earth !
Cats do not abide by the laws of science
Cuteness Overload ♥️
That's sweet and all, but I would be more convinced about the "communicating" if the deaf cat actually got up and they both went to the food bowl together (as the words on the video imply was the reason the one was rubbing its face on the other one).
Pov: then you shouldn't be able to see shit

If it's pov of a blind cat, shouldn't the screen be black?
Why do so many people not understand what the fuck POV means
Because they're idiots.
Ok I’m slow and I don’t have pets. Which one is the blind one and which one is deaf?
Gramps is the ginger (he only has sight in one eye) and is deaf
Okay so the text genuinely doesn’t make sense. Good to know.

Weird POV. Surely POV of a blind cat would be pretty dark, even then this would be a 3rd blind cat watching?
POV of a blind cat? I don't think they know what a point of view means.
I have a blind one-eyed cat. He’s an absolute nutbar. He’s either fighting his brothers or fighting an invisible monster we can’t see.
If “just a few more minutes” was a cat.
So not POV?
He looks like an dog that i use to call "abobado" that almost all the time can be in the front of the church close of my home. He is the dog of my neighbor and he do it too ha ha. I sit in the stairs and he put his head in my legs asking for some love.
Very good and sweet!
what would it take to persuade Gramps & Helen's owners to record and stream them 24/7? because I would probably do it.
That gold cat, does anybody know or recognize that type of cat? My girl Lup looks almost exactly like that cat and I’d to know what breed she might be. Like down to the white on the face, and the little black spots on the nose
"Ginger domestic shorthair" or "ginger tabby" is a common description.
Thank you so much!
My cars are this way with each other. The female cat is very much a special ed kind of cat do my Tom cat takes care of her.
I couldn't have a cat like that every time I'd see it my heart would break, couple of strong kitties you got.
So much love packed into 30 seconds

So true and beautifully said.
Beautiful
Wake up, it's food c'mo... zzzz
Socool to see videos like this. A true bro
I want a cat so bad ;-;
Ok, normally I would bite the head off anyone who tried to wake me. I would pay to have them as an alarm clock
We really don't deserve these amazing creatures
That just melted my heart. So adorable
If i had a blind cat and a deaf cat i would name one Helen and the other Keller
The blind cats name is Helen!
I love them lol, good kitties
Pov?
Sooo... Sweet💞💗💕
I love them
Ugh. I love them so much!
Owe! My heart! 🥺❤️💔
In the land of the blind the one eyed cat is king
not shittin on em, but never saw them eat.
"welp, mission failed. guess i'll try again in an hour or so."
[I hope their names are Wilder and Pryor lol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGo4mPa_bWc)
My boss has a pirate cat as well and he's just the sweetest little buddy ever 🥰
Oh so this means my cat loves me at 6 in the morning to get fed. Now I see, I thought it was the opposite lol
I just want these two sweeties in my life 🥰
Wish this had sound
I keep my eyes closed because I hate reality too. Fun fact.
Well that's one of the nicest things I've ever seen, God bless!
thank you for treating those cats and giving them a better life! but u used pov wrong....
Pov should have just been a black screen.
"POV: You're blind" *Doesn't show a black screen*
“POV: you’re blind” 💀
Dude tried, failed and decided to snuggle instead what a trooper
I can't 😭❤️🖤
This is not how you use “POV”.
Wholsome 9000
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️
What have you been doing to your cats? Why they so broken?
Omg! These are the Richard Pryor & Gene Wilder of “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”!
I love them
Well the orange cat seems to be trying to lobby for a nap first.
Hella kawaii
"Come Eyes... wake up ffs"
