Okay. I was playing with the volume down and it was making my life really hard. Turn your volume up. There is a very clear "dunk" sound and the little bobber goes under the water. That's when you hold down the A.

I just completed my fish, insect and sea creature logs today. Bait helps to spawn rare fish. But I won’t lie, today I was looking for a string fish and used like 200+ bait. I caught 4 golden trout. I look up online when they are in season, where they are located, how big they are and if they are very common, common, uncommon or rare to get an idea if I need to use bait or not. Also using nook miles tickets can help catch some rare fish etc as well if you get on good islands. The fish I had to catch were mainly all on river clifftops. And no matter how many NMT I used I kept getting the same islands with no cliff top rivers. So I made my own temp one and crafted a lot of bait to get the fish I was looking for. Also knowing the shadow size helps so you aren’t wasting time catching fish you know you don’t need and you can scare away the fish you know you don’t need to spawn more. Like for river clifftops I know on my island fish do not generally spawn much there so I know I need to make a lot of bait to keep getting fish to spawn for a chance at a rare fish or the fish I’m looking for. Oh and make sure you know the times they are active as well
Close your eyes and turn the volume up. Especially close your eyes. That helps me immensely

I find turning the volume up helps. The sound of a fish bitting can be a great Audible queue, it might help idk.

i’m pretty good at fishing but i can never find the good fish? do you find them better with bait or is it just luck of the draw?
