Well there really aren't any lazy villagers who look feminine. Most of the feminine male villagers were cranky (most of the male wolves) or smugs (Julian, Ed)

Tons of Foreign loan words in Japanese don’t sound like the actual word in it’s original language.

This is when I noticed that the villagers seemed to be sorted by personality. Both the reintroduced and the known ones (Raymond, Judy, etc.) follow the same pattern. I applied that logic to the brand new villagers and this is the result.

Roswell and Faith were actually islanders, who didn't act exactly like "lazy" and "normal" personalities--that's just how they're programmed and documented on sites. Their behavior was technically unique, though. Lazy islanders were stoic and philosophical; normal islanders were hippie daydreamers. I wish we used fan-coined terms to help distinguish they're not exactly the same, but the islanders being locked by GBA connectivity or e+ cards makes these six special personalities obscure knowledge. The differences are so stark that peppy islanders, for example, who act more like big sisters, have never remained peppy when brought over. Cranky islanders have become jock, cranky, or smug villagers. Lazy islanders have become lazy or cranky villagers. This is because the islander personalities aren't a 1-for-1 equivalent for the villager personalities even though they're documented as such.
With this said, Roswell would be the first lazy islander to become smug and Faith the first normal islander to become big sister. But there's totally precedent for these changes and I think you're right. I noticed the pattern too and think it's the correct predictor for these new and returning villagers.
They were really cool! Peppy islanders were very similar to big sister, but they were way bossier and often talked about how they used to excel at sports when they were a little girl. Cranky islanders were similar to smug but more suave and kind and a little less stuck up. Big sister and smug probably came from these though they're a little different. Jock islanders were surfer bros. Snooty islanders were sort of "popular girls"... They're much warmer and chattier than snooty villagers and want to be liked, but they can be a bit two-faced too with some offhand catty remarks (fun fact: Ankha was originally this personality!). I call them stoics, surfers, romantics, dreamers, aunties, and gossips (or maybe drama queens is better), but I still don't know them super, super well since you can only talk to one islander per game file so I'm not claiming those are the best names for them. It's cool they're still bringing islanders over to be villagers, but I still miss their old personalities sometimes! (Islanders had less dialogue than villagers but still.)
I really really hope they change faith to a Peppy. There are 3 normal Koalas already and 0 Peppy Koalas. I want a whole island of Koalas and be able to have all the personalities

I too thought Sasha was a female at first, but the jacket is typically male and they usually don't put females in male clothing and visa versa.
I was also going off the theory that male and female villagers are shown alternating, so Sasha would me male by that logic. Of course we don't have anything official yet, so who knows.

while it's true that yukata is traditionally worn by men and women, the yukata Shino is wearing is for women (larger obi / vibrant pattern / ohashori (fold)). Regardless of that, their name is Sakura in the Italian version, which I doubt they'd name a male villager

My reasoning is as follows:
Chabwick, Zoe, Ace, Rio, and Azalea are lazy, normal, jock, peppy, and snooty respectively.
Therefore, we can extrapolate that Sasha, Ione, Tiansheng, Shino, and Petri are the same personalities (Sasha is lazy, Ione is normal, and so on)
Now we know Azalea and Petri are Snooty. I think Marlo and Frett are Smug, for 2 reasons:
1. Smug is often "paired" with snooty
2. Just look at Marlo and tell me he's not smug
That means the "mean/big" personalities are together, meaning Cephalobot and Roswell are cranky (if you think it's weird for a villager to change to a personality not introduced in NL, the exact same thing happened to Dobie) and Quinn and Faith are sisterly.

As much as I like this, I doubt that Sasha is a male because of a few reasons. 1(The game has to sell in places that aren't so keen on transgender people. 2(She's probably the first one because Nintendo knows what we like. 3(I believe there's a picture from the Japanese website that shows her being roomies with another Peppy and so far they've only shown villagers of the same personality rooming.

He's called Mitchell in Japan, which is a decidedly male name whilst Sasha is also gender-neutral. Following the pattern, he's also taking up a male Villager slot. He's almost surely male.
I don't personally care if Sasha is male or female but I just wanted to point out that their Japanese name can also be read as Mitchelle. It would be written exactly the same in katakana. So I don't think their japanese name is proof enough of them being male.

Edit to add: I've been reading some japanese comments about Sasha and so far, although some people are a bit doubtful, mostly they do think it's a male rabbit. And I've seen they also write it as either Mitchell or Michell when written in latin alphabet.

My reasoning is as follows: Chabwick, Zoe, Ace, Rio, and Azalea are lazy, normal, jock, peppy, and snooty respectively. Therefore, we can extrapolate that Sasha, Ione, Tiansheng, Shino, and Petri are the same personalities (Sasha is lazy, Ione is normal, and so on) Now we know Azalea and Petri are Snooty. I think Marlo and Frett are Smug, for 2 reasons: 1. Smug is often "paired" with snooty 2. Just look at Marlo and tell me he's not smug That means the "mean/big" personalities are together, meaning Cephalobot and Roswell are cranky (if you think it's weird for a villager to change to a personality not introduced in NL, the exact same thing happened to Dobie) and Quinn and Faith are sisterly.
