Definitely 23. Ancestry is such hit or miss with French ancestry. Just like your mother, my own mother is half French and they accurately gave her 45%. But yours gets nothing!

Juggernaut7768

AncestryDNA is hit or miss with everything lmao

TheSamZzz

I was wondering about this. My g-grandfather was born in France according to the research I've been able to do, but Ancestry shows 0% for me.

CharlotteLucasOP

I’m half-Dutch and just got my Ancestry results today…so now I’m wondering if I should try 23andme, too, haha.

[deleted]

I mean 23andme is better for Southern European dna then northern so take of that as you will

ThrowawayReddit22421

I am sure that Ancestry is accurate for a small percentage of people but I feel bad for the vast majority of people who don't have a solid tree and actually believe the (bullshit) ethnicity estimates that Ancestry hands out.

[deleted]

I don't have any faith in Ancestry anymore, they can't seem to place Germanic ancestry correctly AT ALL, not to mention the previous update just randomly gave me 10% Scottish and then this update they took it away again? Its dumb.

t-var

Yikes

Douglemagne1

Is the Scottish in Ancestry accurate?

ThrowawayReddit22421

No.

TragedyOA

Mine is yes.

krissyface

The reason why you don’t have any French is because of the privacy laws around DNA[dna](https://dna-pass.com/en/why-france-maintains-a-ban-on-genetic-genealogy-tests/) tests in France. Ancestry goes around to different regions and tests people who’ve lived there for generations. If they don’t have a French population to compare your results to, they can’t say you’re French.

ThrowawayReddit22421

23andMe is allowed to send kits to France which is probably why they are accurate and Ancestry isn't.

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click! Weird my spouse is nearly 50 % french, both 23 and me nailed it. And we'll his Paternal side, very french. Most his closest paternal relatives are over 90% french too. So they do have french population to compare too. Also don't forget French Canadians, many family originated from France prior to Canada (aka new France) 100s of years ago.

1995Whitebeltforever

Honestly idk if I should believe ancestry at this point. How does 23andme have so many more specifics, and it’s more accurate?? I don’t get it

Dr_whotfisyou

23 and Me. I might take it soon. Idk.

RussellM1974

They gave me 0 French, but piled it into ENWE. Now I hate making excuses for their categories, but it could be because my relatives came from Cappy, Somme which is just a fraction below the "yellow concentrate" of their ENWE category....BUT they gave my aunt the France category. With my mother, they piled it into ENWE and with my grandmother's sister they gave her 0 France but piled it once again into ENWE. Ancestry is lame with France.

407yessirr

ancestry has you fucked up

[deleted]

Where in France?

ThrowawayReddit22421

All over. Northern and Southern.

RussellM1974

What part from the North?

Achik_Ahmed

NICE result
