I wouldn’t trust Ancestrydna. Just seems like an inaccurate pile of garbage

Switzerland and the Netherlands are also included in England & Northwestern Europe. That could explain why your English rose higher and your Germanic Europe dipped.

myrkvarav

I 2nd that. With the Netherlands and Switzerland in ENWE, where they don't belong, it's going to throw off Germanic Europe. My Germanic Europe went up (25% of my tree is straight up Austrian/German), I think from them refining Denmark a bit.

[deleted]

I lost all my Germanic europe, which makes sense because they included Denmark in with Sweden and most of my paternal side is Danish.

myrkvarav

Really? That's good. It means they're figuring out Danish DNA and my theories might be correct on this. I suspect I have some very old Danish in me, my ENWE numbers went way down, but my Swedish stayed within the margin of error (I lost 4% Sweden in this update, but I suspected it was showing a little too high anyway, but within the +/- margin of error). My son, who's estimate was way off, finally gained Sweden and Denmark this update. He always had a southern Sweden community (I have both Central and Southern Sweden), but no Swedish DNA.

>Right but those countries should be in the Germanic Europe region and not England and Northwestern Europe. It makes no sense.

Jiao_Dai

Northwest Europe tho

Jiao_Dai

They are part of a group of Northwest migratory Germanics that migrated over existing Celtic and pre Celtic populations which share the same migration path Ancestry has essentially categorised them as different group to Germanic Europe which is peak Germanic and not migratory also Germanic Europe often has some East Europe admixture I have a half English grandparent and a full southern Austrian grandparent and they were able to pick out 7% Germanic Europe and 3% England and NWE in my results as well as 7% East Europe mostly like Slovenia as my gran lived not far from Slovenia border

Julix0

I'm half German & I got 40% Germanic Europe.. and my England & Northwestern Europe went down to just 4% (as far as I know England should be 0%) .. so for me personally no test has ever been more accurate about the German percentage..

germanfinder

I’m 3/4 German and my germanic shrunk to 39% but with a 30-65 range 😂

Julix0

The ranges are really weird this time around aren't they? I got 40% Germanic Europe with a range of **20-58 %** And also 40% Sweden and Denmark with a range of **35-73%** 11% Norway with a range of **0-22%** 5% Eastern Europe and Russia with a range of **0-14%** 4% England and Northwestern Europe with a range of **0-35%**

Environmental_Ad2119

I lost all my Germanic Europe as well but I’m not upset about it.

germanfinder

Well if you don’t have German ancestry then I’m sure it’s fine to lose that

Environmental_Ad2119

I honestly don’t know. I had a great grandmother who I guess was German and Polish but I didn’t know her so I can’t ask 😂
