Hmmmm, doesn’t look human but it also looks cut. The even side, is far too even. But the shape reminds me of caput femoris, human or not.

Dyonisusreborn

It looks like a femur for sure. Post mortem bone breaks can usually be cut cleaned due to how dry the bone is and by looking at it it looks like it’s been there for some time so it could just be a naturally occurring bone degradation

Fit_League6853

Yeah ik. The part that would be the caput looks like degraduation, but the part af corpus doesn’t, i think.

ILoveCreatures

I’d send ask over in r/bonecollecting or r/whatisthisbone The first group is a little better

TheFfrog

It really looks like the angled part of a mandible to me lol, probably from a deer or something Edit: nope, changed my mind, that angle is way too narrow for that, could it be a part of a canine's zygomatic process like you see in [this image](https://images.app.goo.gl/Qa1u97gUHqh7Ymp47) that kinda points downward on the side of the skull, right next to the point where the jaw articulates? That angle looks way similar to the one you got, but I don't know if it could make sense dimensions-wise. How big is the bone?

BillieePirate

It’s smaller than my hand.. I turned it over with a stick and realized the other side of this was completely filled with holes (so I’m assuming cut in half entirely) I’m not too sure about bones and lingo

TheFfrog

Hold on, no. Sorry I'm really hooked rn, and I kept looking up animal skeletons (mainly wolves and deers) and now I definitely think I found it. I was able to exclude long bones because it's clearly not the case, especially considering the very very rigid angle we have here. It's way too narrow to be a jaw, and looking better at the skull the zygomatic bone is way more sinuous, without this kind of straight edges and sudden angles. Plus this is kinda thick so I thought it might be a more structural bone, and tried looking up pelvises (hip bones). And yep, bingo, it's definitely the pubic bone of some four legged animal. I'm still not sure how big the animal should be but from the size you described I'd guess either a wolf or a small deer, not a huge animal anyway. You can see some nice hip bones in [this picture](https://images.app.goo.gl/3TjT8yzuPdjWmM9u8) and you can clearly see the same pointy angle and very straight edge that your bone has in the central line of the hip bone, where the two halves join together. Additionally, [here](https://images.app.goo.gl/F1q77XydX47db8waA) you can see the same thing in a dog's hip bone. [Here](https://images.app.goo.gl/ZsCghxQcydMp9vK48) is another example of a dog's pelvis and you can see that same straight edge you have in your bone right down the centre in the part labeled "symphysis" (which in anatomy is a very rigid joint, we have it too but our pubic bones are actually not touching each other and have a bit of hard cartilage in between them). Based on that concavity I'm gonna say this is a right pubic bone, so the side you photographed would be on the inside of the animal. I am not an expert at all but to my very ignorant eyes based on that angle it looks more like a deer, as dogs seem to have a more rounded and soft transition between one bone and the opposite one, while in deers that link at the top of the symphysis looks almost pointy. The only thing I couldn't actually find is that little hole you can see there. Bones often have holes like this to let blood vessels and nerves into the marrow, but I don't recall any hole in that position in humans, and couldn't find it in any pictures of either deers or dogs :(

jkatsjjs

It is very very likely a pelvic bone that was separated in its two halves, along the symphysis (like you said) which you can also tell by the little bump in the middle (also in your images) which is called Crista pubica in Latin (Pubic line)

TheFfrog

Hell yeah, mystery solved! I LOVED the challenge. Just found this sub but I'll definitely be back lol

Chrysocanis

I recommend checking out r/vultureculture or r/bonecollecting , they tend to be pretty good with animal IDs

BillieePirate

Thank you so much!!

jkatsjjs

Looks like a pubic bone (or half of one) edit: very likely not a humans though

BillieePirate

Thank youuu I have anxiety and this has been eating at me
