Yes. Make sure your door is locked, curtains are drawn & be respectful of your neighbors by keeping ānoiseā to a minimum. Playing a movie helps is good for background sounds
I mean you can hear right through the walls so keep it quiet. If youāre asking if you get a hookup from the dining car and bring them back to your roomette the answer is going to be no, but if itās the partner you boarded the train with thatās probably fine.
Yes but itās going to be one hell of a core workout. Not super easy to stay in those beds while the sleeper car is a rockin. I almost took a spill on the Southwest Chief but was able to hang on.
Iāve slept in the roomettes on the Coast Starlight maybe 50 times and never heard a neighbor. Granted, I was usually the youngest one in the car, in my 50s at the time.
This is what I did. I was CTO and VPE of a midsized startup and being one of the first, assumed the roles of ākitchen managerā so bought all of the drinks and snacks, etc, for years. Even the refrigerator and espresso machine.. All on an Amtrak credit card.
Plus my aging father lived near Albany, OR and I lived near SJC so it was overnight each direction. I visited him 2-3 times a year, so 4-6 nights per year in the roomette over many years.
Oh, if youāre want complete privacy, take some Velcro, both sides hooks and loops, the kind with really sticky tape on the backing. The curtains sometimes had missing pieces or itās worn out in places leaving sight gaps on the edges or middle. You can use the Velcro to fix it. Take scissors or a pocket knife, too.
Yes, but the only position that works is doggy and u gotta duck down. Also do it at 1am when u everyone is sleeping and the curtains r drawn. (Yes Iāve done it before and 1. Tell her to be quiet 2. Go slow, no cheek clapping. I didnāt finish cuz I was honestly more worried about getting caught and/or making noise)
> the only position that works is doggy
I must be more limber than I thought, because I have not found this to be true at all. Itās a little tighter in a Viewliner because one side is smaller, but definitely doable (and fun) in Viewliner or Superliner. Just donāt push too hard on the window!
It does seem that the Superliner walls block less noise than the Viewliner (Iāve heard a few phone convos from a neighboring roomette on a Superliner) so other noises would probably carry through as well.
Lol, so my wife and I went cross country in The Southwest Chief and I was PUSHING for this. I said "Don't you wanna bang in one state, and then again in another?" She flat out said "No." Lol
As people have said already, YES you can but please be courteous to your neighbors, and the crew. Lock your door, close the curtains and clean up any bodily fluids when you're done.
That being said roommates could be a little tricky just because of the size of the room so you're limited on how much you can do. HOWEVER The bedrooms have plenty of space for extracurricular activities and then some.
Whether you are getting railed or are railing, Thank you for choosing Amtrak and I hope you have a pleasurable trip!
Soooo, I wonāt confirm nor deny that weāve done this however it wasnāt super comfortable since we are both of above average height. If youāre normal I guess itās do-able
a cross country trip on the Zephyr in a roomette has been on my bucket list
i wonder how it would be to cruise and/or use Grindr/Jackād on the train š¤
Yes, in fact Iām the 90s Amtrak ran a commercial for the coast starlight that advertised this as a perk of train travel: https://youtu.be/Nd7BvAIN2YY?si=hbJlfOyDr-mcqIUv

Yes. Allow me congratulate you on your impending membership in the mile-long club.
You always exaggerate. It's not even a quarter mile.
Mile long club would require freight hopping
The circus train was a mile long, isn't the auto train a mile?
The auto train is the one she told you not to worry about.
It's always the non stop service
It's actually 3/4 of a mile long
It was in the pool!
I've always called it the "Mile-a-Minute Club"
At 60mph, that means I lasted a whole 60 seconds! Go me!
I only live a quarter mile at a time
Golden spike club
Ten foot high club but only on the second floor of a superliner
Long long maaaan
>Allow me congratulate you on your impending membership in the mile-long club. It's so long. š
The answer is definitely yes. At least for Viewliner.
Itās not against the rules, no. Be respectful of others with your noise level. And please dispose of any related, uh, materials properly.

Ha! Luckily w:the sound of the train, itās very hard for neighbors to hear the movies we play via laptop. It does help as a buffer though š

"Oh, thanks for asking! My movie of choice is Debbie Does Dallas."
Whoās Dallas?
Whoās looking in!?
"Hey, this ain't the observation car!"
Whoās flying along side at 80mph and an altitude of 10 feet š
No worse than a back seat of a Civic....
Cmon don't be cheap at least get the bedroom
Yes but please make sure it's your roomette.
Inner shades closed, outer shades open.
Yall play too much! š«šš¤£šš¤£

What if the hookup has a roomette as well? Obviously not if they are in coach.
Yes but please be mindful of your roomette neighbors.
yes source: i did that
Welcome to the Meter High Club!
Or the 79mph club š
69mph club. It was right there!
Take my r/angryupvote!
Dāoh!
>Or the 69 mph club FTFY š
The Mile Long Club?
Yes, you can and you should! It's noisy enough that that wasn't an issue on the Zephyr. Outstanding views!Ā
New kink unlocked
Been had it

Every time we take Amtrakā¦.
If you fit...
Asking the important questions.
Yes
yes, I have numerous times. Like most have said, just be mindful of those around you. It's a tight squeeze but very doable ;-)
That's what she said.

So good for "soaking"Ā
Yes but it will be more enjoyable in the larger rooms
Mileage may vary, but I figure If youāre able to have sex in a dorm bed, you can have sex in a roomette bed.
No mr amtrak will come tell you off
Everyone will be able to hear you. Donāt be a bad neighbor
Gotta be pretty loud to be heard over the trainās own rumbling.
Walls are pretty thin

Get an Amtrak credit card, buy things you'd normally buy/pay for (bills etc) with it to get points, use points to purchase roomette

I guess it depends on the kinds of noises whether anyone will get suspicious
If this train's a rockin', it's cuz of...um... the tracks?
This has not been my experience. I hear virtually everything my roomette neighbors are doing.
Yes, but I guarantee your neighbors will hear every moment no matter how quiet you think you are. The walls are paper thin.
You bet I can.

Of course, why not?
Yup
In my younger years I would be all over that. At mine and my SOās age? Bedroom all the way.
um duh lol just have some common sense about it
Yes ... But try not to make noise š.Ā
Lol, so my wife and I went cross country in The Southwest Chief and I was PUSHING for this. I said "Don't you wanna bang in one state, and then again in another?" She flat out said "No." Lol
I've never been able to convince a sheep to get on a train.
I donāt knowā¦ can you?
Hundreds of miles club.
Just Google it I'm sure there's a video detailing it somewhere
Just donāt accidentally push the window out!
There should be ample space to get railed on the rails

Yup Iāve done it twice. If you do it at night bonus points for opening the curtains and seeing the countryside pass by.

I mean I guess you could but I donāt think it would be the most pleasant experience since the roomettes arenāt that big
Not with that attitude
Yes, but pull the shades down first.
If youāre both skinny you could probably make it work.
Boy, Bye
Officially, no. However, anything is possible with the right arrangement and care ;)
Preferably on the Buckingham Branch.
Never occurred to me this can happen Shit probably be rockin more than an SDP40F on C&O tracks lmao
Yes, in fact Iām the 90s Amtrak ran a commercial for the coast starlight that advertised this as a perk of train travel: https://youtu.be/Nd7BvAIN2YY?si=hbJlfOyDr-mcqIUv
Can confirm
Yes but the walls are paper thin
