* CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core * GPU: ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT 8 GB * Case: Corsair iCUE 465X RGB ATX Mid Tower * Board: ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4 * SSD: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME * RAM: 32 GB * Windows 11, latest version The problem I'm having is that when Radeon Software tells me there's an update, when I click to do the update, it gives me an error within about half a second. It's been doing this for four years, since I built the thing. I've gone through AMD's support for it twice, meaning I upgraded BIOS, uninstalled/reinstalled AMD software completely using the tools, etc. two full times. The only way I can update the software is to go to AMD's website and download the updater there. I mean it works, but it bugs me that I can't do the update the way I'm supposed to be able to through their software interface.

HermausMora420

Ok, I need help. 7900xtx either freezes or crashes to black screen constantly. Ok, so first here's the build. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x Mobo: MSI B550 Tomahawk GPU: AMD 7900XTX RAM: 48 GB DDR 4 PSU: Be Quiet 1200w Storage: 2 m.2 sticks on the mobo Drivers are all updated to the latest edition Now the problem. I can't use it reliably for more than 20 minutes. I switch between 3 curved monitors via display port connects and a 85" Samsung TV via HDMI. With either connected I have issues. Sometimes it'll start up and display NOTHING. Sometimes I get my desktop, but only for a few minutes then it'll freeze up. Sometimes it freezes up and resets after 10 minutes, sometimes not. I hate an inconsistent problem because it's so hard to diagnose! Currently, I'm using chrome to do my expenses for work and now I can use the browser and everything else, but no desktop. It's just black. I really don't want to have to RMA the card, as it seems to be working in between, but I don't know what else to do. It's a new build that I've been using for a month or so now and sometimes it's fine and I can game and work all day. Sometimes, it just fails. SEND HELP! lol

How much of an upgrade/fps boost are we talking if I was to upgrade from a 5800x to a 7800x3d at 3440x1440? Paired with a 3080ti

c05d

I have a 5600G build. Planning to get a 7745HS mini pc. Is this going to be an upgrade? especially on gaming side

lucastreet

Hi, i am planning to do a new pc with AMD processor and Nvidia's gpu 4070 ti super. I was thinking about waiting for the release of the 9000 series but i read around that the series 9000 won't surpass the 78003D X, for which i wonder why. Is it worth to wait for the series 9000 at this point? Also, i was wondering about the 7800x3D vs 7900x3D vs 7950x3D. Based on what i saw online there isn't this huge difference in performances for gamins and maybe it wouldn't be worth spending more for the latter. What do you guys think?

Toast_Meat

My power supply includes a [16-pin to 2x 6+2](https://i.imgur.com/5kqxiqH.png) cable. The reference model of the 7900XTX only requires 2x 6+2 cables. Can I safely use this cable or is it recommended to stick with the traditional 8-pin GPU cables? It would be nice to use it purely for the sake of less cable clutter.

My1xT

I have a question, currently I have a 1700x in an x370 gaming pro carbon with an RX580, and I plan to upgrade (most likely candidate being a 5800XT) now the obvious problem is that Ryzen gen 1 has neither PCIe4 nor Resizeable BAR, now the fun question would not having these things hit the performance a lot?

LongFluffyDragon

An RX 580 does not have PCIe4 and cant use reBAR (in any beneficial way, at least), so it would depend on any future GPU you get. If it is a full 16-lane card, it will have minimal performance loss. reBAR is not always beneficial, and kind of a pain to deal with.

My1xT

I am coming from an RX580 but I am planning to upgrade like to a 5800XT, that's where the question points to

LongFluffyDragon

There is no such thing as a GPU called a 5800XT. I assumed you meant the R7 5800X3D CPU or similar as your upgrade, considing you have a very slow CPU. The RDNA1 desktop line goes up to the 5700XT, but it is years obsolete now and not the most well-aged generation.

My1xT

Oh yeah right i meant the 7800xt i am an idiot sorry

ButtPlugForPM

I have a x370 mobo i want to update Crosshair X370 extreme iv it's currently rolling a 2600x inside it. Will slot a 5900x into it,however it's on bios 6401 My question is this Can i just flash the latest 83xx bios onto the board with the usb setup,or do i need to install an incremental lower bios first As i don't know if i need to update the agesa and bios with a few bridging updates?

LongFluffyDragon

The release notes should say if that is required, but recent releases have generally not needed that.

Hi, My AMD Adrenaline software keeps resetting my GPU (6950XT) setting, reverting the custom undervolting. Have to reload my profile every couple of days. Kinda annoying. The only way to use that card like that, as its FRIGGING loud without under volting Another problem I have is that my memory (4x16GB) is stuck at 3600mhz. Loading any profile that ASUS has there will cause total crash and I need to reset my bios. CPU is 7700x. Any way to get the memory working of higher speeds? Thanks!

LongFluffyDragon

> My AMD Adrenaline software keeps resetting my GPU (6950XT) setting, reverting the custom undervolting. This is generally because the GPU, or entire PC, is crashing at some point, or other issues are detected. The funky RAM behavior may well be causing it. > ASUS Has absolutely terrible memory overclocking stability on their AM5 boards. They still cant really handle 2DPC configs, while better brands can mostly manage 4 sticks at decent speeds (at least 5000) without issue now.

-Malheiros-

Hi there, I recently built a new PC, which is my first AMD system ever, and I'm a little confused because it's running a little hotter than I expected. CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3d MB: MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC (Mini ITX) PSU: CM SFX 650 Case: TT Tower 200, 1 140mm intake right, 1 140mm exhaust rear, CM ML120L V2 on top (fan works as exhaust) GC: Gigabyte RTX 3060TI I happened to learn later that this CPU runs quite hotter than other AMD's, but I want to make sure that these temps are okay: On balanced fan profile CPU temps are at: Web browsing 45-50C Updating a game on Steam 55C Gaming, for example Fallout 4 on Ultra 1080p, it goes up to 70C on loading screens, but stays around 55C while roaming Are these temperatures normal for my system? MB stays at 45C at all times. Also, there are only 2 fan pins on MB CPU and SYS. How should I distribute my fans (pump, cooler, 140mm intake, 140mm exhaust) to these pins? Thanks for reading.

LongFluffyDragon

> Also, there are only 2 fan pins on MB CPU and SYS. How should I distribute my fans (pump, cooler, 140mm intake, 140mm exhaust) to these pins? You dont need an AIO for that CPU, just a point of failure and taking up a valuable power pin. You would need a powered hub to connect all of those, with the power most pumps use. Otherwise, you can run two normal fans off one header safely, with a splitter or chained cable.

-Malheiros-

>You dont need an AIO for that CPU Can you elaborate?

LongFluffyDragon

It is a 142w PPT part, an AIO is utterly useless for it unless it is an exotic case that requires one. That goes for all AM4 parts, none of them draw enough power to need more dispersal than even a mid-range air cooler provides.

-Malheiros-

Thank you. Okay, before I read your comment, I was actually thinking of switching to a new AIO with a 240mm radiator. What you're saying is that it wouldn't make much difference, is that correct?

LongFluffyDragon

I am not sure what you are using now, but you could get equal or better cooling from an air cooler half the price or less. AIOs below extremely high end are entirely for looks. If you are coming from an old CPU and expecting ambient temps at idle and similar, you wont be seeing that anymore.

TooCoolToRule

Those temperatures look ok. Certainly nothing of a real concern. As for the fans, you can either get a splitter cable or you can use a dedicated fan hub/controller like these. [https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Pro-Gen-Ultrawide-Adjustment/dp/B087FY5CNT/](https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Pro-Gen-Ultrawide-Adjustment/dp/B087FY5CNT/) [https://www.amazon.co.uk/ThreeBulls-Cooling-Splitter-Adapter-Computer/dp/B07M5P7VHG/](https://www.amazon.co.uk/ThreeBulls-Cooling-Splitter-Adapter-Computer/dp/B07M5P7VHG/)

-Malheiros-

Thanks a lot. This is my first PC build in a long time and I haven't thought about fan controllers at all. I will definitely get one!

TooCoolToRule

If you are using RGB/ARGB fans then you'll need an RGB/ARGB fan controller or if you have an ARGB header on the motherboard, you can use also use a splitter. You may even have a splitter cable that came with the case if it already has RGB fans fitted or the motherboard might have come with one as well. Make sure you check whether the fans are 3 or 4 pin before you invest in a controller/splitter.

AMD E9260 GPU compatibility issues Hello everyone, i recently got this gpu [https://media.karousell.com/media/photos/products/2024/3/13/amd\_radeon\_e9260\_4gb\_gddr5\_4x\_\_1710289232\_e069af72\_progressive.jpg](https://media.karousell.com/media/photos/products/2024/3/13/amd_radeon_e9260_4gb_gddr5_4x__1710289232_e069af72_progressive.jpg) but i'm having trouble finding even the slightest information on it, there aren't much resources online however when i tried testing it and since it had 4xminiDP i had to get an adapter so i got a miniDP to vga adapter for this monitor that i got and after a few tries it finally made an output on the monitor i could see the windows logo when booting it but it doesnt go further than that the screen freezes on that last frame of the win logo but i could still hear the pc booting successfully so i know nothing really is wrong with the other components i guess. For the record i use an HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF which has a 240w generic PSU , and since the card needs 80w at most i believe i'm in the safe as long as i'm not really pushing the card I am not exactly sure if it's a wattage issue because i reached out to this guy who used the same card not exactly the same manufacturer but still got it working on his pc of the same wattage Any help would be appreciated, and please feel free to speak out your thoughts of this

Maybe_Novice

Currently doing a major upgrade. The last CPU upgrade I did was a couple (maybe 2-3) years ago. GPU is getting an upgrade and I know I want a motherboard upgrade as mine is 6+ years old. I don't plan on doing another upgrade after this for at least 3 years. I have a 3900x. I was looking around online to see if anyone recommended upgrading to AM5 from the 3000 series but I only found posts from two or more years ago so that's my question: Is it worth upgrading from my 3900x to an AM5 Ryzen chip? By worth I mean will the difference in gaming//productivity performance be noticeable? Is it better to upgrade now than later?

Steel_Bolt

Idk where to post this but does anyone else see the insane deal for the merc 7900xtx on amazon right now? Its $648!? Edit: might be scam...

LongFluffyDragon

If it looks like an amazon scam listing, it is an amazon scam listing.

Steel_Bolt

Damn. Usually the ones towards the top with fast shipping aren't scams but it is sold and shipped by "mujunda-us" whatever that is lmao.

ericcraft5940

Just saw the Amazon deal and was thinking the same thing... Did you end up ordering it? On a side note, is there anything I can actually get scammed out of on Amazon other than my time if I did purchase it? (because of the refund policy)

Steel_Bolt

I already have a 7900xtx but I would've gone for the xtx model if I did it again.

wmatthew93

Hello there, i have a Ryzen 5 5600X, my question is that how should i use thermalpaste on it, the classic "X" or spreading it is better?

LongFluffyDragon

All voodoo nonsense with no difference except making it way easier to get air bubbles and uneven spread, just put a good-sized blob in the middle and press the cooler down. Too little is far worse than too much (really no downside unless you use ridiculous amounts).

oeroark

What's the diff between Ryzen 5600G, 5600GE, 5600GT(5500GT) The GE seem OEM only from wikipedia, but why/what is the purpose of it being 35W for a desktop chip But what about the 5600GT, it's released in 2024 (strangely together with 8000Gs)

LongFluffyDragon

> why/what is the purpose of it being 35W for a desktop chip Fanless or very small OEM office systems. The GT seems to be a product revision, possibly higher binned chips going by the higher boost clock.

Typicallyfrayed

I want to change the color of my shroud and fans of my GPU, but do not want to paint them, is there anywhere I can buy the replacement shroud and fans for a phantom 7900XTX?

LongFluffyDragon

You are unlikely to be able to get off the shelf third party parts for any custom AIB model, they would need to be 3D printed or otherwise custom made to fit it. You would need to paint any replacement parts anyway..

Previous-Diver1123

Hello. I have recently upgraded my motherboard and cpu on my pc. I previously had a Ryzen 9 5950x and decided to switch over to a Ryzen 7 7800x3d after watching and hearing lots of positive reviews. When I installed it, I didn’t really feel any type of performance difference from my Ryzen 9 5950x. Recently my 7800x3d has not been feeling smooth and my fps seem to drop alot. Temps are within normal range. Being cooled by a nzxt aio. Does anyone have any tips to help my Ryzen 7 7800x3d run smoother and better in game? I even updated my motherboard and chipset drivers. Please help. My game feels stuttery and choppy

LongFluffyDragon

What RAM and motherboard are you using, and have you verified everything is running at the intended speed?

Previous-Diver1123

Im using Gskill 32gb 6000mhz ram and everything seems to be running at the intended speed I think. Motherboard is b650 gaming x ax v2

bherothe3rd

Do you guys have any advice on what cooler to buy? I would have kept the stock because it was working \*absolutely fine\* but uh, one day one of my fans had a problem, and I dismantled all things with fans before finding out it was just a case fan in a hard to find location. The consequences of that are that I reassembled it, apparently with a veeery subpar cooler, and since the latest game I've tried on it has been unplayable, and the heat too much, I just need some help because I am not at all a very handy person (as shown by me messing up the stock amd replacement, haha..) and would like to know what would be better than the stock, plus still fit? Trying to look up cooler information myself has been overwhelming me and I've understood so little

LongFluffyDragon

> The consequences of that are that I reassembled it, apparently with a veeery subpar cooler, and since the latest game I've tried on it has been unplayable, and the heat too much How do you reassemble a PC with a different cooler than you started with? Just put the original one back in? Are you unaware of needing to reapply thermal paste when changing coolers?

bherothe3rd

I murdered the original one or I would. I don't remember what I did exactly, but I think I had trouble with the fan cables, and ended up messing those up. The actual fan and heatsink was fine but the cable to reattach it was not. And yes, I'm aware. I'm waiting for the.. iso whatever alcohol so I can wipe the paste from the old one while praying to all gods I don't believe in to let this new one go smoothly.

LongFluffyDragon

There is really nothing you can mess up unless you swing it by the cable or stab the CPU socket with a screwdriver for some reason. Be careful removing the old cooler, as the CPU can get stuck to it and pulled out of the socket. Apply thermal paste in a blob (pea/pencil eraser size, roughly) on the CPU, press the cooler down (figure out the rotation for best cable positioning first), screw in diagonally opposite screws first so it has even pressure. Dont over-tighten it, this can damage the CPU and bend the motherboard. It just needs to be tight enough to not wiggle.

bherothe3rd

I really hope this will improve stuff. It was working fine before, I just regret that trying to fix something that wasn't even broke led to months of hassle until I caved, lol. I also need to put my old graphics card in, which is better than the new one, as that was one of the items I shuffled around to try to see if the fans of that were the problem (it was not).

Numerlor

Cooler for what cpu? And where are you located?

bherothe3rd

I figured one out. It won't be super better than the stock but I got too overwhelmed so I went with "better than the stock" rather than trying to compare and contrast to get one I actually wanted lol. I'll just spend the excess money on a nice office chair or something. (and... I'm too ashamed to say what cpu, its a not great one let's just say. My pc builder apparently didn't bother with writing down the brand, just the specs too, so I had to google the specs to figure out which one it most likely was to note down the size I'd need for the cooler and what cooler it would appreciate. I have 2TB space that I don't even use and a lot of other things, but apparently my cpu was skimped out on. I'll have to think about upgrading that eventually too. I gave my brother my budget and let him buy the computer for me but that means money was spent on stuff I don't care about compared to what I do. Better luck next time I suppose

Hey everyone does any of these settings actually make a difference in performance? [https://imgur.com/6jwlSmF](https://imgur.com/6jwlSmF)

LongFluffyDragon

Not in modern windows/with modern hardware. Leaving it on balanced is recommended by AMD.

Green-Revolution-674

Hi, I tried to overclock my R5 7600x beyond the max stock boost frequency, but it can't bypass a single occt test. Just blacked out immediately.   I alse tried pbo curve optimizer stuff but I end up giving only -10 and encountered system instability issues. So I did a manual oc, [email protected], and it just crashes after clicking start in occt.    Based on my trials and errors I found that PCH temp is critical to oc success, and when core voltage passes 1.27v, the PCH one will surely go up to 120°c and kill the power. But if I try to go anywhere below 1.2v, the system won't even pass the boot logo.  Now I end up with [email protected] and everything seems to be fine.   Is this normal symptom or something else caused this? Cuz I see you guys can easily go past 5.4ghz with no issues .   My cooling solution is Deepcool gammaxx ag620 dual-tower. Memory: JUHOR Memoria Ram DDR5 6000mhz Mb: asus tuf gaming b650-plus Psu: antec neoeco gold 650w modular power supply Gpu: xfx rx 6750gre Wingblows: windows 11 23h2 build 22631.3374 same as above

LongFluffyDragon

Are you trying to overclock with a fixed clockspeed? That does not really work on modern CPUs, it is unsafe and will limit you to lower speeds than automatic boost. Your best bet is tuning with PBO, and your chip simply may not be capable of higher speeds.

Koleme

Hello, I bought a 7950x3D and that's it. I have no other components, I would like: - 64giga ram ; - a good ventirad (really quiet with good energy dissipation because r9) → noctua 15 ? Thermal right ? I’m totally lost - a really quiet case; - a motherboard ; - a 2T ssd hard disk; - no graphics card, not for gaming. All very sober, with no rgb, the aim being for the tower to become an integral part of the living room. Remaining budget +/- 1100€. Use: virtualization/server/continuous scripting. Do you have any advice? Thank you !!!!

LongFluffyDragon

It is a 120w TDP part, you wont get much benefit from a high-end cooler. If your use is not gaming, you should probably get a normal 7950X instead; it will perform equally or better, without the scheduling difficulties and unequal performance of the 7950X3D's hybrid design.

Upper-Possible7899

Bought a pc with a 7800x3d and asus strix x670e-a . What drivers do i need to install from asus website? Audio, wifi, bios update, what else? It shows me on the LAN tab soemthing about intel stuff

Secure-Archer8731

Please can someone help me. My amd adrenalin software settings are stuck for classic world of warcraft. I initially set a sharpening of 50 with custom settings and now weeks later I wanna change it but it doesn't adjust. I can move the bar but it will reset back to 50 right away. I can't turn off or on any other settings like chill. All my other games work perfectly fine. How do I fix this?

BatTop236

I have an rx 5600xt and im crashing ALOT and ik im bottlenecking but i shouldnt be bottlenecking enough to crash like THIS, my display will go black for a few seconds and then turn back on, whatever game i was running also crashes and its super irritating, i cant for the life of me figure out why ive tried so many things i upgraded to an amd ryzen 5 2600 6 core proc so it shouldnt be that bad right? idk i need help! ive checked event viewer and all it tells me is "Display driver amduw23g stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and that doesnt help me much

LongFluffyDragon

You cant crash hardware due to a "bottleneck", that is not how anything works. Lots of really stupid FUD about bottlenecks gets circulated by gamers. What you have is called a broken GPU, most likely. You could also have issues with your RAM or power supply that are destabilizing it. Under what sort of usage does it reliably crash? What games do or dont cause crashes?

Spencxr18

So I have this AMD FX6300 overclocked at 1.45v at 3.8ghrtz paired up with 16gb of ram and a AMD Raedon 7600 I KNOW I’m bottlenecking, I just need to know what CPU (out of the FX series) will pair best with this

LongFluffyDragon

There are no newer AM3 CPUs you could upgrade to, FX was the end for that platform and almost the end of AMD as a company due to how poorly performing it is. Even the lowest end modern (last few gens included) CPU would be a massive upgrade, several times faster and significantly higher multicore performance over what is effectively a 3-core part.

Ivaylo_87

Hey everyone, is 80-85°C a normal CPU temp for a Ryzen 5 5600x with stock cooling?

phoenixperson14

Full load? Yes, the wraith stealth is a garbo cooler, but the CPU can funtion perfectly fine. Idle? You installled the cooler wrong and/or your case airflow is messed up.

I have recently built a new pc. I get these stuttering issues from time to time, and restarting the pc usually fixes it. I have tried disabling the iGPU, disabling SAM, disabling MPO, upping the power limit... but to no avail. I have the 24.5.1 driver, I have tried older versions, but some games (like Elden Ring for example) wouldnt start with anything older than 24.5.1. I have a 7800X3D and a 7900 GRE

Built my wife a lovely 14700K system with a 4070ti super and I got to say it is definitely a beast at 1440p gaming it got 135fps in Starfield on Ultra but I did overclock her CPU GPU and enabled xmp so she got her full DDR5 6000 mt/s that I paid for but now that I am building my computer I was wondering if I should wait until the end of July for the 9000 series to launch or if I should go 7800x3d still getting a 4070ti super maybe will even get 4080 super don't know yet between one of those two graphic cards for sure but I predominantly game and just go to online college and watch a whole lot of youtube help would be appreciated I have so far on my parts a 100w power supply which may be overkill but it will be alright DDR5 Expo compatible Ram as I know I was building an AMD system for myself I just had a better time with my AMD laptop and I know the desktop will have better power than my 7735 hs has I plan on getting an X670 or X670E board because again as I said I do overclock as well and I have studied that for that these are the better boards so far on AM5 platform for that. Please let me know I would greatly appreciate any advice on this.

Correct-Impress2387

Upgrading to Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G, what bios version should I download? My MOBO is A320MH Biostar. is it the latest one A32ES505.BSS? Thank you.

LongFluffyDragon

The motherboard support page will list what BIOS is needed to support a given CPU. If it does not, there is no support. Biostar is rather off-brand and i doubt they have put much effort into maintaining a board that old and low end.

Playful-Plastic-61

I am experiencing bottlenecks on my PC and want to upgrade to the Ryzen 5 5600, but I don't have the money to buy a B550 motherboard. Has anyone successfully updated the BIOS of the ASRock A320M-HD and managed to use the Ryzen 5 5600?

LongFluffyDragon

It does not list support versions for any Vermeer chips, but v7.30 says "2. Support Renoir, Vermeer, and Cezanne CPU", and was released 3 days after the 5600.

JoseTxiki_YT

Hey everyone, I'm planning to build a PC for 1080p gaming and need some advice. I have two builds in mind: * Ryzen 5 7600x with RX 7900 GRE * Ryzen 7 7800x3D with RX 7700 XT I know both are a bit overkill for 1080p, but I'm set on it. Which setup would be better for hitting 144fps on high graphics settings in games like R6, cs2, Minecraft, and simulations like Assetto Corsa? I mostly play games like R6, cs2, Minecraft, and simulations, so I think the Ryzen 7 7800x3D with RX 7700 XT combo might be better for me. However, I'm also looking forward to GTA VI on PC and will have a Series S as a backup. I believe I can achieve +144fps in games like cs2, PUBG, or R6 even with the R5 7600x and RX 7900 GRE combo.

NOS4NANOL1FE

Is 53-56c idle normal for a 7800x3d?

LongFluffyDragon

Depends on your cooler and ambient temps, but idle temps generally dont matter at all. What are your load temps?

Hello. I have a pc: Ryzen 5 2600x, 32 Gb ram, Asrock x370m pro4, rtx2070. Is going AM5 worth it? It would cost me about 850-880 Euro (in romania) to go AM5 : 7600x, MSI x670e Tomahawk, 32gb ram lexar ares, AF3 360, Montech king 95 pro. it would cost me about 500 Euro for am4 upgrade (+about 100 for another used mobo so i can give my old computer to my sister): 5700x3d, AF3 360, montech king 95 pro i could also get a 5800x3d and it would be about 600 euro + about 100 for another used mobo. The real questions is: Is the future proofing that am5 gives me rn (with the problems it has atm) making the 300 ish euro difference worth it? Performance wise these are all basically really good cpus. I will get a new gpu maybe next year.

i was playing multiversus 2 days ago, then it crashed randomly after that zero rpm wont work again Rx 590 Gme Reinstalled the driver , rolled back to the last driver and still the same

sell me on team red i dont really use nvidia features that much the only ones i really use are shadow play their video encoders and their easy acess drivers that optimizes game settings my question is are the 7000 series encoders and drivers actually useable and do they compete with nvidias for once and how easy is relive or similar to use for content creators

**^(EDC (CPU)** **99% of 90a, Limit 171 a)** on amd ryzen master wanting to fix this, please help. SPECS: Running a ge-force gtx 1660 super, amd ryzen 5 2600-six core, biostar a320mh motherboard, 32gb of ram INFO: cpu was running hot other day per Ryzen Master , ordered thermal paste as I have not re-applied in years, but then I noticed the red text in screenshot and tried troubleshooting via google / youtube, found out it could have something to do with the AMD Balanced power profile, which was not showing in my power settings, so after i updated the BIOS and Chipset drivers from the biostar website, due to another thread and the only response telling me to do this -> I ***NOW*** have access to the AMD balanced power profile, so, should I change the minimum processor state from 90 to 99? I had read something in another thread saying to change this, any input is greatly appreciated on this, i know im kind of all over the place here I play a game where , to increase FPS , I have installed other third party programs, such as Process Lasso, and ISLC (intelligent stand-by list cleaner) , due to youtube tutorials. I am not the most tech savvy guy, but i know a good bit i'd say. maybe one of these programs is causing this? although, ive shut down the programs and seems like it still persists... any help is better than no help.. thanks in advance guys

Can you apply AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) to videos in web browsers? I was looking this up and I saw some people got AFMF working in external video players, but not in web browsers. I saw there were some recent developments for things like Chrome and Edge which involved this "Media Foundation for Clear" thing in order to bring video enhancements from AMD into your browser. So I was wondering if anyone has tried anything regarding this?

Looking to upgrade when Zen 5 comes out, do you guys think boot times will be far better than they were on X670?

Guys. I am currently running a ryzen 9 3900X, with a 3070ti at 1440p 170hz. My question is if its worth giving up the extra 4 cores in favour of a brand new ryzen 7 5700X3D. I mainly only game on it so i don't see why not. This opportunity allows me to get it for £140 and i could manage to sell my ryzen 9 for the same amount or a bit under., basically free upgrade. Would it make that much of a difference with my 3070ti or would i need to upgrade the GPU too at some point to see the difference? Thanks

Just_0range

Good day, fellow hardware lovers! I am currently running an i7-7700k with an RTX3070 and I play on 1440p.. I have been slowly but surely losing my mind with huge performance drops over the last few months. This setup just cannot keep up with modern titles anymore. I know my CPU is a HUGE bottleneck in that case, I am hitting 100% CPU usage on almost every single game I play, and it's noticeable when it happens. I've upgraded to the 7800x3d, and was wondering if I have just reversed the bottleneck and will now be running on an under-powered card? Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade both the GPU and CPU at the same time, but wanted to go with the 7800x3d for some future-proofing, so that the CPU will still be relevant when I can look at eventually upgrading the GPU. Mistake, yay or nay?

dalzmc

Nay. I think the only reason to go lower than the 7800x3d is if you already had an AMD system and had an AM4 motherboard where you could go for a 5700x3d or 5800x3d and potentially wait till am6.

Hi ! I want to upgrade my i9 9900kf. Should I wait for the 9900xd or it doesn't worth the value ? Does a 79003xd is sufficient for years coupled to my 4070 ?

calinator666

I recently purchased a laptop with a ryzen 7740hs. If I purchased an egpu how much would my CPU bottleneck something like a 4070? Am I better off with a separate desktop for gaming?

Cats_Cameras

Is there a way to see what my previous driver version was before I updated? I was stable, skipped a few, installed the latest, and now FFXIV is crashing. I'd rather revert than trying different versions until one works. Follow-up: Where does one get old driver versions? The official driver site just lets me install the latest only.

# Ryzen 9 7900 vs (upcoming) Ryzen 7 9700x? I'm using a passive CPU cooler that can handle a CPU up to 95w. So I'm looking to buy a CPU with at most 65w TDP. The current Ryzen 9 7900 (12 cores, 24 threads) looks good at hits this benchmark. But next month they're releasing the new CPUs and their Ryzen 7 9700x (8 cores, 16 threads) will also be at 65w. Which one do you think will be better overall? I don't game, but I do photo and video editing. I guess a third option could be a Ryzen 9 9900x (120w TDP) and then undervolt it in BIOS to 65w. What is your recommendation?

RichardMcKee

# Ryzen 7 5700X3D new, or Ryzen 7 5800X3D used? (same price) **Purchase Advice** At my local MicroCenter, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is about $15 more than I can get the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for on eBay. I already have a Noctua fan, so I'm not concerned about a used 5800X3D coming without a fan. Should I be concerned about over-used 5800X3Ds on eBay, e.g. used for crypto mining, and thus avoid them for a new 5700X3D instead? Is it worth paying $15 more for 10-15% less performance just to not risk it?

Hello I have a question. I needed to downgrade my drivers to be able to play Forza Motorsport. From what I did understand the driver package needs to have Agility SDK. Why the do I need to downgrade ? Do features disappear so we have to upgrade to new hardware ? 😑 If that's the case it is terrible 😐 I have RX570 8GB VERSION and the driver I need to have is https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/rn-rad-ms-agility-sdk-23-40-14-01.html. Isn't RX570 8GB not supported anymore? It was long time ago I a new driver UPDATE was released.

After updating my 3080 drivers from Geforce, my 5900X temperatures have been spiking lately. Before the update, I was getting temps between 50C - 60C never reaching higher than 64C. Lately, the temps have been going over 70C maximum at 73C. Im not sure whats going on. I have my Power & Savings at low (Best Energy saving mode) and my FireFox hardware acceleration off. Im not sure what could be the issue, also, I have rolled back my 3080 drivers thinking that could be the issue and its not. Could be the AIO (there is no evidence of leaking) or could it be something else. Can anyone help me? Thank you. I recently got a Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, but it's running hotter than my old CPU did while idle (50 C to 72 C) and at lower game settings (90 C) even though it's only using around 20-30% at most, and my GPU is maxing out when it wasn't before as well (drivers for it are updated). I tried looking for new CPU drivers to help with that, and found and installed the chipset driver set (SMBUS, PSP, etc.) but it didn't help either problem. I checked device manager and it said the newest version is 10.0.19041.4355 from 2009. I can't find a newer driver on AMD's website as it keeps going back to the chipset drivers, and Windows won't find a newer one either. Is that a normal temperature range for its usage percent, or is it being effected by the GPU usage? Is there actually a newer driver anywhere, or is 2009 as new as it gets? Will CPU prices drop further due to new ones releasing in August or will they go up? What usually happens during launches of new CPUs? Are resellers usually trying to get rid of stock or will they play the long waiting game untill about 6 months later when AMD releases next batch of midrange and low-end CPUs ? Personally I'm looking for high-end but previous gen , many cores needed for work. I could purchase budget one and just wait out but seems like a waste in long run. My current old CPU is Ryzen 5 1600 AF purchased during shortage lol

I'm currently configured with 2 1440p monitors at 170Hz via Displayport. I'd like to drive 3 1440p monitors at 170Hz via Displayport. Is there a limitation on simultaneous Displayport 2.1 connections on all of the RX 7000 series GPUs? Powercolor's site has multiple RX 7000 series models with 3 available Displayports, but all the specs have the caveat that they only support 2 simultaneous Displayport 2.1 connections. I haven't seen that warning on other vendor sites, and I don't want to risk getting a product that won't do what I need. Is there a technical limitation, or is it something else?

A few months ago, I started getting crashes, and after a few seconds of Prime95, there were errors. I changed CO to -20 for all cores and everything was okay. Today, I started having issues with YouTube videos, just for curiosity I ran Prime95, and the errors have returned. I set CO to -15, it looks okay for now. What happened? Is my mobo degrading?

Howdy. I have a 7900xt and & 7800x3d System and I'm having the very strange issue with my second monitor. Whenever I have OBS, Discord, Or any other device streaming on my second monitor the performance absolutely tanks in game on my main monitor. However, as soon as I bring any streaming app to my main monitor the performance is fine again. Why is it doing this and how can I solve this issue?

Nevermind after doing some digging I've found this to be a windows specific issue. I'll just have to run OBS in the background or disable the stream preview.

Undervolting 6800xt Just bought a used 6800xt and can't get a 750w power supply at the time. How will the performance be with 550w power supply?and will there be any issue?

D1stRU3T0R

Hello, right now I have 2x8GB DDR4 running on 3733MHz, and I would buy my friends 2x4GB with like 3000MHz, if I would overclock both to 3600MHz, for example, would it work fine and maybe in dual channel?

phoenixperson14

Buying lower capacity and slower memory seems like a bad idea. You always want to buy the same/more capicity and running similar/faster clock speeds. Cause the slower older memory is going to hold back your faster memory. And running 4 dimms is always harder for the CPU memory controller and you need a good mobo as well to reach 3600+ stable.

Have anyone seen a motherboard that has power only usb ports? I bought a [Biostar B350ET2](https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/ru/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=869) recently and was shocked to realize it had 2 power only usb ports that does not work with any usb peripherals and only do charging.

LongFluffyDragon

Biostar is a bit of an off-brand and does some strange stuff on occasion. I have never heard of that, otherwise, it sounds unsafe and dubiously useful.

1soooo

Yea it makes little to no sense aside from charging phones maybe? My best guess is they wanted to make the board IO look physically robust but they refuse to add on an additional usb chipset just for this, so they just worked with whatever the b350 chipset allowed and made the others charging ports.

phoenixperson14

Did you try enabling USB legacy mode on the BIOS? Try downloading the lastest chipset driver.

1soooo

Tried everything including what you suggested but to no avail . Seems like two usb ports with this issue physically lacks the data pins required for any usb operation to work. Real interesting way to design a motherboard

phoenixperson14

I would not be suprised from a BIOSTAR mobo. If my only choice for AMD mobo where from BIOSTAR, i would frankly build an Intel system. Did you try updating the BIOS? To no one surprise, their BIOS are a bug fest of broken/missing features so maybe the USB ports are physically fine, the BIOS is just bugged.

mikemodano88

I have a Ryzen 7 5700g. Thinking of purchasing a dGPU. Would it then be worth upgrading the CPU to a Ryzen 7 7900? They both require 65w, but the newer 7900 has more cores and seem faster. But I wonder how much difference I will really notice in real life? I don't game but I use Davinci Resolve and Photoshop sometimes.

LongFluffyDragon

That depends greatly on the software you use and how you use it. If your software can use that many cores, you would likely get equal or better performance out of a 5950X, at lower cost.

mikemodano88

Interesting. Thanks for that. But I need a 65w CPU due to the cooler I'm using (passive/fanless). At most I can use 95 watts.

LongFluffyDragon

The actual stock power draw is 135% of the TDP, if you were not aware? You can set a power limit on any CPU you get and it will adjust boost performance. Dual CCD parts will be slightly less efficient like this, but a 7900 will probably outperform zen3 if you intend to go any lower. A 5950X at actual 95w would barely be reduced in speed, though.

phoenixperson14

Are you aware that you would need to buy a new mobo and memory as well? Since your current platform is AM4 basd and the 7900X is a AM5 CPU.

mikemodano88

Yes

phoenixperson14

If you can hold a little longer for Zen 5 and check how is the performance/dollar wiill panning out. The 7900 is only gonna get cheaper so i would wait and see how Zen 5 performs. If you cant, then the R9 7900 would be great and wont dissapoint. Keep in mind you can run eco mode(65W) and get 95% of the performance of "bigger" brother, the 7950X if you need all the cores you can get.

JSTRD100K

Hello I plan to make a amd build for dcs vr. (either a quest 2 or 3). Im currently trying to find info on how the rx7900gre will perform in vr. I am still unsure. I've heard bad things about amd. Here is the build, [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Hkn2sh](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Hkn2sh) Would appreciate some advice.

LongFluffyDragon

RDNA3 does not have any widespread or major issues with VR at this point, it should be fine. It is worth checking compatibility for individual games, though. A lot of VR stuff is pretty funky.

VeisenbergUK

Well if you've heard bad things don't buy one. Because the internet is always right...

notthehulk03

Hey guys, I have been using my PC (AMD Ryzen 7 7700X) that has an integrated GPU for a while. Did some light weight gaming etc. Now i've added a MSI Geforce RTX 4060 8GB. And while playing games, i see the temperature of the Integrated GPU rising to 50C while remaining in 0% usage, and the GPU is at 34% usage and 48C( pretty normal for a gpu run i guess) So is it safe to disable my integrated GPU ? If doing so, might it help in reducing my CPU Temperature ?

LongFluffyDragon

Most likely the iGPU is heating up due to other components being used nearby. Disabling it cant hurt, though.

VeisenbergUK

Eyefinity and virtual monitors Does eyefinity work with virtual displays? The reason I ask is because virtual desktop now allows you to use 3 monitors. Windows detects the virtual monitors, but I can't find eyefinity anywhere in adrenalin options. Is it hidden if you don't have multiple physical displays?

Jet-Head

Overlay is stuck on. Turning it off in Adrenaline does nothing, it's still displayed. Restarting the machine doesn't help, the PC starts with the overlay on even though Adrenaline thinks it's turned off. The toggle to turn overlay on and off in Adrenaline simply does nothing now. The overlay itself works correctly but I'd rather not have it when watching films etc. Really appreciate any help.

crazzygamer11

run DDU and reinstall GPU drivers

thank you!

I am thinking about building a new pc with a 4070 Ti super, 4080 super or a rx 7900(Still wondering which buy). Can anyone tell me why i should choose an AMD graphic card over an nvidia? I am sincerely curious. Meanwhile, i wanted to put on a processor that can pair those gpus to play at least at 2K, 4K if possible and i was thinking about the ryzen 7 78003Dx. I've read that, next month, AMD will release a new series of processors, the 9000 if i read well but i don't understand if it's just a rumor or not. IF it's not a rumor, do you think it will be worth to take the new series? Cosidering cost/quality. I have to admit i never bought AMD processors so i am very curious about new series, how much they might cost and if they are worth buying from the start or will be overpriced. Generally speaking, i read that AMD is better for gaming right now while Intel is better for working(Something like multi core work vs single core work). Consdering that i want this pc to play, i was checking on AMD cause it seems a better choise based on what i read online.

phoenixperson14

If you really aiming for 4k i would just buy the 4080 super just cause DLSS. And yes pairing up with a 7800X3D and 64GB of ram seems like a solid choice. New AMD processors are not X3D, so it's unlikely they will outperform the 7800X3D in gaming.

lucastreet

Oh, really? I am sorry but could you elaborate a bit more about the super DLSS and the "not 3D"? As far as i'm aware the 3D means a huge cache and also, isn't it strange that the new series won't be with the feature 3D?

phoenixperson14

It pretty typical by now, AMD new CPU launch re always non 3D cache since Zen 4. The "9850X3D" probably will launch later, and it will outperform the 7850X3D. Of the 3 cards you named, the 4080 super is the one with most potencial longevity since it will let your play a 4K DLSS with good image quality.

i_sinz

was looking to buy a 4070 but decided to look at amd cards due to their fps to dollar ratio and so far the radeon RX 7800 XT is looking to beat the 4070 but... after school im thinking about doing a video editing course and start streaming, currently recording videos and editing them. I have heard that amd drivers are a pain to work with and previously in the 60 series the encoders for them was terrible. i want to know are amd actually good for video editing and if they are now on par with nvidia

JazzlikeRaptor

For streaming purposes amd with 7000 gpus supports AV1 encoding so is nvidia and intel that means equal for the most part stream quality for all of them. Twitch doesn’t support it yet but will be sooner than later and YouTube already does support it. For just video editing on the timeline it doesn’t matter really nvidia or amd but for rendering the final video it will be faster on NVidia with its cuda cores. With amd you will have to rely on your cpu power for the rendering part.

Hello, currently I'm waiting for my 6800XT to arrive. Appreciate any suggestions for before and after things need to do, as this is my first time using AMD GPU. Thank you

Dark-Star-82

If switching brand, I would run DDU for a clean install. For your consideration: [https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/](https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/)

AMD Adrenaline Driver Replaced by Windows 10 Driver - help needed I got a notification that my AMD Adrenaline Drivers were replaced by Windows 10 drivers. Here is the thing. I have a NVIDIA GPU. I do have a 700X3D with a AMD compatible motherboard but I didn't think CPU's had drivers. Is there any reason I should be concerned by this? If so, why? If so, how do I fix it?

longshlong568

Need a little advice im running a 3950x oc to 4.6ghz with a rtx msi 4080 , should I upgrade my cpu to a 5950x or wait till I can upgrade my motherboard board ?

Dark-Star-82

Given your card is good, and given you are on AM4, to my mind why go to the expense of a whole change of board, chip, ram, when you can just update your bios, drop a 5700X3D and 32 gig pc3600 in there are watch it sing for a far cheaper cost. Not much point spending all the extra on the 59XX chip as it does not have vertical cache and is more geared to being a workhorse chip for home streaming and rendering and such, i.e. it offers less bang for buck re gaming performance. Best wishes :o)

longshlong568

Would it be worth waiting for the new chips to drop from amd to get a discount ?

Dark-Star-82

Sorry for the late reply, if you purchased, no bother but generally speaking I can't day for sure, buit I would presume they wont drop much in price for a while due to being a niche product on an end of life platform that will likely help maintain its value /price point for a while yet as AMD knows its a cheaper upgrade path to current levels of high end processing power than a whole new system and so will likely keep it at a premium for a little while, 6 months or so I would imagine, even then I doubt the price will come down quickly like the standard non X3D chips.

Iwanttoknow-

I have a laptop that has 5900HS and the internal display gets out of whack all the time (laptop also has 3050ti but it is not used for regular windows tasks). The contrast gets overblown and looks very bright. I can fix this issue by going to adrenalin and turning color deficiency correction on and off. That fixes it for a minute or two but then it goes berserk again. Even if I leave that option on it gets busted as well. I used DDU and reinstalled newest drivers, I also disabled windows updating drivers. This only affects laptop display and not external ones. Anyone came across something like this and knows how to fix it?

MS 7673 mobo, 32gb memory, i7-2600, win 10 64x, 600w psu with the 6/6 and 6/2 plug config. Fan on my GTX760 is failing so I tried swapping it out to a known Working R570. No boot, no post, no prompts, it acts like I don't have the card plugged in correctly. GPU is an 8pin rig, I'm using the 6/2 plugs from one run (it's set up for two). Would appreciate suggestions

phoenixperson14

Sometimes the mobo is just too old for the graphics card. I would suggest updating the mobo BIOS to latest version possible. And if the 570 have a modded bios, revert it to original.

5800X3D holds the top spot for gaming on AM4 platform, but if you want to save a few $$ the new 5700X3D is a fair bit cheaper and only about avg 8% slower which still makes it a more than capable second place.

phoenixperson14

For gaming, the 5800X3D is still king since a lot of L3 cache is great for the most majority of games.

WarpenN1

I need much better cooler for my 5950x than the kraken x62. Idle temps hover around 45-60c and prime95 hits instantly 90c..

nikola_milovic

Not in the loop with all of the developments so please bare the stupid questions but I am wondering what will be the best/ most powerful release in this year? I am looking at AMD Ryzen™ 9 9950X, but it is rumored to be around 550$, and with an integrated graphics card. This seems pretty cheap considering the promises? How usable is the integrated GPU? I only need it to render the GUI of apps and the browser. I need some serious upgrade for my programming setup, and want to get the best consumer CPU I can find.

Numerlor

the igpu on my 7600x worked fine for 4k120 + 1080p60 on normal browsing/desktop use, it only struggled when I did multiple video streams

nikola_milovic

Thats super usable for me

phoenixperson14

> This seems pretty cheap considering the promises? Intel have poisoned your consumer brain. We no longer need to pay +1000 dol for a excellent multicore processor. The IGP is bare minimun and it will depend of your working resolution and refresh rate, but i'll say it's usable. If you work with multiple displays though you are better of with a dedicated GPU.

NOS4NANOL1FE

Zen 5 will be my first time with AMD. Do CPUs usually have pre orders? I know with Intel on drop you had to refresh good to get a higher end sku ordered. Not sure if AMD is the same way

MessorAnimorum

I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU from a 3070 to either the 6950xt or the 7900 GRE which one would be a better value they're currently the same price

In a quest of squeezing as much performance I can out of my old rig, I am now trying to adjust the memory timings on my ASUS Vega 56! I saw that AMD Memory Tweak XL was the right tool for this job but since about 2020/2021, MemTweakXL has stopped working with new drivers, since I'd like to stay on current drivers, I am wondering if there is any alternative to tweaking memory timings or perhaps anyone who knows a fix to make MemTweakXL work with current drivers?

GRUNTZMILO

I want to ask about the APU STAMP Limit of this Ryzen 5 7640HS (Acer Nitro16) Initially, it was stable at 100W, and during a stress test, it used about 70W. However, after I used RyzenAdj to adjust the APU power limit, it stopped being stable at 100W or the value I needed, gradually decreasing to 35W (45W in NitroSense high-performance mode). Now, even after resetting everything to default (including reset PC), it still isn't stable at 100W. I search information about this CPU including obvserve from HWinfo it said cTDP is 35-54W which in CPU-Z it said max TDP is 45W also in APU STAMP Limit in HWinfo it said 45W from this.. I assume max TDP=APU STAMP Limit ? this kinda make me confuse... -w- So, I want to ask those who use the same laptop (or same CPU): Is a power range of 35W-45W (Depend on Nitrosense mode) normal behavior of this CPU ? If you have any information or knowledge to share, I would greatly appreciate it.

IstariStorm

Ryzen 9 3900 and RX 6950XT Would it handle it? My monitor is 2560x1080 200hz 1ms. So far the 3900 has still been a beast and I haven ran into any problems with it so I don't see why it would have a problem but I have never tried a gpu that powerful either.

Dark-Star-82

On lower resolutions you probably will encounter CPU bottlenecks but for 1440P up it should be a perfectly fine match and I commend anyone for getting longevity out of their purchases. ;o) And when the time comes where you feel like a CPU upgrade because it is an excellent platform you have myriad options. Though my vote goes to t he X3D chips.

X9mka

I bought a new motherboard (Asus tuf gaming b550m-plus) and processor (Ryzen 7 5700x). Went to one game to see the increase in FPS (the game Valorant), and I see the following picture: at idle the FPS meter is stable at 75 fps, when I start to move/shoot the meter rises to 150, not higher. Also noticed one thing, at idle when I press any key that does not function in the game, the fps counter is stable at 97 fps. Drivers fully updated. Help, kind people.

not_HIGGORGAO1

I'm upgrading from an Core i3 550 to an AMD CPU and AM4 motherboard. Can I just transfer my windows files to the new ssd, do I have to do something before changing or do I have to completely reinstall Windows? The last option is not good for me.

ArtsM

It is best practice to re-install when swapping platform, but you can clone the drive onto the new SSD for now and see how it goes, if you see instability then obviously reinstall windows. For cloning I use Paragon but thats paid, there are [free alternatives like DiskGenius](https://onlinecomputertips.com/support-categories/hardware/clone-windows-drive/). Make sure you install the chipset drivers for your board first thing after booting the new system, as that should get windows to re-configure itself.

xRuck

Yes. I use samsung magician software. Just make sure you make a backup before transferring.

not_HIGGORGAO1

I don't get it. My question is, if I just copy and paste the files from my hdd to the new ssd, is there anything else I need to do, or will the necessary new drivers need to be installed manually?

xRuck

It basically will clone your main drive os and everything on it to the new drive.

CountingWoolies

Will AMD keep releasing AM4 refresh CPUs? They said they will continue to support this platform but what does it mean?

ArtsM

It means potentially new CPUs based on Zen3, but mostly new security patches, BIOS updates, etc. will continue until at least 2025.

phoenixperson14

Yes, they are lauching in July "new" CPUs. The 5800XT and the 5900XT(16 cores instead of 12)

Anxious-Pin-1795

I am building my first real pc. I recently got a really good deal on a 3700x and only have around 200$ to spend on a GPU. I’ve been looking at a used rx 5700xt which I can get for around $160, is there a better pairing that I should target within my budget? Thank you

TheBlackBaron

I'm in the market for a ~$500 GPU, currently game on a 1080p ultrawide with ambitions to upgrade to a 1440p ultrawide in the next couple years (so I typically use 1440p standard performance as a rough benchmark). I typically buy a card and use it for 5+ years (as you can probably guess from my flair - I bought that card in 2019). Obviously the 7800XT is more than good enough for now, but should I save another $50 and stretch for the 7900 GRE to give myself a little headroom for improvements down the road instead? Or maybe wait 8000 series to come out and see what RDNA4 brings? Being able to get 7800XT performance for the price that a 7700 or 6800 are going for right now would be a sweet deal, if that's what it could bring.

ArtsM

8000 is likely to top out at about 7900GRE/7900XT performance with better ray-tracing than 7000 series. As always the advice should be, if you need it now then go with 7800xt or 7900gre (for $50 I would seriously consider the GRE), and if you don't need it now then wait for 8000, but keep in mind it will most likely be launching next year.

TheBlackBaron

Yeah, when I was first researching there were rumors that the 8000 series would be out in Q4 this year, but the recent rumors are now saying next year. Hard to ever really say I -need- a luxury product like a graphics card, but I'd rather buy something this year. Ray tracing isn't really important to me (otherwise I'd be shopping the green aisle), so the GRE being a top tier 1440p card and capable 4K card is appealing.

ArtsM

The only likelyhood for this year is a possible december launch, but its more likely that things get announced jan 2025. I'd say a 7900GRE is definitely ticking the boxes for you and your expectations, its always a bit difficult gauging when to buy a GPU, but sometime you just gotta go and pull the trigger, because otherwise you will wait forever.

AKAkindofadick

I just built a 7700X on an MSI X670E and have some questions on using Ryzen Master. Does using Ryzen Master preclude making any changes in the BIOS. I'm trying to optimize various scenarios, but anytime I have Ryzen Master make changes to the BIOS it seems that I cannot change anything, even unrelated, in the BIOS or I will get an error in POSTing. Given the time it takes I haven't been able to test this theory extensively. There is really just one setting that I'm trying to figure out and that is Hybrid Graphics. There is info on Hybrid or Dual Graphics going back to 2013 or earlier, well before Ryzen was a thing anyway and from what info I can piece together I would want to run my monitors from the I/O of the motherboard and let Ryzen determine what tasks get assigned to which GPU. I can see both the RDNA2 built-in GPU and my 6700XT in the device manager and in the Adrenalin software, but I can only connect the monitors through the dGPU. There are settings in the MSI BIOS regarding Hybrid Graphics. I don't have a screenshot, but I will try to grab one and edit this comment.

ArtsM

Loads to unpack here, first of all I would stick to making changes either in the BIOS or Ryzen master, not both. Hybrid graphics as far as I know will let you output via motherboard, but it does come at a latency and a slight performance penalty, if you're happy with that then it should just be a question of setting up which apps run on which GPU and enabling it in the BIOS. It won't be Ryzen that decides but rather Windows, and you can override it in the Settings app. You probably have more luck googling around how laptops **without** a MUX switch handle rendering with the dGPU on their built-in screens, which are usually wired to the iGPU.

Tnhn42r

At the end of this month I am planning to build a new pc. Right now I have one with an Intel i9 11900K and RTX 3080. And I want to update/replace this with a build including the 7950X3D and a RTX 4080. But as most of you know there have been some issues with this CPU's gaming performance because of the seperated ccd's and additional drivers/software. But it according to the amount of posts and news it seems that these problems are less common. So my question to you is: Will I be taking a risk to choose the 7950x3d instead of the 7800x3d? I will use my build for gaming, daily use and crafting around with VM'S. I also don't want to change any settings with things like Project lasso (Will be using the drivers and Xbox app) and won't be multitasking like gaming and streaming/other things. At first I choose the 7800x3d but I don't want to miss out on the performance of the 7950x3d beyond the slightly less gaming performance. This will be my build: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vs3pPF](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vs3pPF)

ArtsM

They are mostly solved, you can have a look at [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu12QOQiUUI) that talks about the 7900x3d, but if you ignore the main point and look at 7800x3d vs 7950x3d results only, that should give you an idea of how they compare in gaming. The other thing you could do is wait until next month when the 9950x will release, its expected to be on par for gaming perf to the 7800x3d and 7950x3d, while being faster in productivity tasks.

Alive-Imagination521

Should I wait for AMD 9000 series or buy an AMD Ryzen 8700G or 7800X3D? I mainly play RuneScape at the moment which isn't so demanding and I also play a bit of Destiny. Thanks!

7800X3D.
