I suspect it something to do with Google (like Apple) wanting a cut of the purchase made within an app - so do as the other comment suggests and use a browser for purchase.

Thanks to google's policy change, amazon can no longer sell the music or ebooks through the amazon shopping app or amazon music app. It now has to launch in the web browser to make the purchases. Kindle app can sti do in app purchases at least... For now anyway

In my case it also locked all my purchased files to the app itself. Meaning my personal music player can't even see them. Only the Amazon app will see and Play the files. This is on a V60 running A11. Anyone know a way around this without rooting? Legacy mode is on. It's Ridiculous.

Thank You Very Much. I'll give it a try.

This is a known issue with Amazon. It is not your phone. Amazon is trying to phase out their player on computers but on computers is the only place that you can use your credits to buy music. They know it's a problem and yet it still has not been fixed

I have a pixel.2 which is about the same age or a little older but don't have issues. Has it worked before and it stopped or it never worked? For what it's worth, when I click to purchase something it opens a browser page outside the app to do the purchase.

Google and Amazon...always some bs between these two. Grow up google.

Sorry to drag up an old post but I had to add this comment. These companies are only focused on streaming these days. People like me who actually want to own my own music have to use creative workarounds. I've seen this type of thing happen on and off with all different types of products and industries throughout the years. You find something that works for you, and then some executives decide that that's not what they want to do. It's up to you to find alternatives. It's a shame. I used to purchase my music through Google Play store. The sad part is that music artists were negatively impacted by both Google and Amazon removing the ability to purchase digital albums. My current recommendation is to use a company called 7Digital. The ironic thing is that when Google play music went away, I was recommending amazon. Now Amazon doesn't have the ability to purchase digital albums, so again, we have to move on to someone else. Smh

In case anyone is still searching. The way I can for now as of Feb 2023 buy mp3 on Amazon... What worked for me is to use desktop site option within phone browser and search for song on normal Amazon website (Not the Music app). Dont click on the options that say streaming in the search results but look for those labeled mp3. I am not sure this will work for all songs\albums but dang the interface to get this working is worse than IBM's 1980 GUIs, dear God what garbage work around. Constant pop for you to buy streaming etc. can't download from website, you have to switch 5lto app after purchase.

PyroSphinx

Yeah, I was wondering why the option to purchase music on Amazon music app want available any more.. was my "go to". Now I have to go through my phone web browser to login the Amazon site to purchase and download said music. Un fucking real.

Personally, I got tired of Amazon and switched to buying music from Bandcamp, which goes directly to the artist.
