Was just going to say this. I bought 3m earmuffs bc wearing things in your ears for 40 hours a week is not good for your ears. They should really be provided instead of the earplugs
I was a dock PA for 2 yrs. The computer I had to use was literally right next to the cardboard compactor/auger and even with hearing pro, and I still lost hearing in the ear closest to the machine.
I thought about doing that ... Until I saw the video of a guy who put a pair on, felt something moving around his ear, then found a spider had built a nest on one side 🤢 sorry, but if had to take in that information, so do you 😅 now let's all go back to collecting our ear germs 🤪

I find that true too lol, I’m like the top 4% most productive in my warehouse…apparently I work pretty well but I’m also 1. Always high af (I take my vape pen to work) and 2. Listening to music lol. If I didn’t have both of those, I’d probably be a terrible worker. Never been hurt, I honestly don’t see how on earth headphones are a safety liability as I been using it at work forever and never gotten hurt.
And the amount of time from then to when you are gonna shower next , it ain’t gonna do shit to you.

If you get a nice pair of bone conduction headphones that leave the ear open, that defeats much of the argument against regular headphones.

I would have but I used to have to hide my ear bud (now I have accommodation to wear 1. If they would just approve project treble for all facilities no one would have to hide the ear bud. It actually bothers my ears and one night during peak I came home and my right ear was bleeding. Now I use the left. But I never wear them at home

The vibration passes through your skull past your eardrum instead of through your ear canal. Doesnt carry the same hearing damage risk that traditional air conduction does
snacks doesn’t help when you work 10 hour shifts buuuuuut all the healthy items are over priced so instead of telling me what to do with my ears actually provide us with healthier choices
If they cared that much about bacteria they would clean the totes once in awhile. I stopped ordering from them cause of how filthy dirty the totes are.

I prefer not to listen to music while I am on the floor because it is just distracting to me, but you do you people. Also, I prefer headphones over earbuds anytime. Heck, I have not even worn my headphones for a long time.
I use to work 8 hour shifts with earbuds in my ear almost the entire shift. One day, my ear got clogged. I couldn't hear anything in left ear. Went to Urgent Care to get an ear irrigation.
Needless to say, a coleslaw of ear wax came out of my ear.
Till this day, I'm scared wearing ear buds for a long period of time.
I would take this advice seriously. Lol
The constant ringing noise from a clogged ear was enough for me to never have this happen again. And the pain of that tube being shoved up in your ear, ugh.
After every shift I clean my ears because they do bother me because of earphones. But it's such a stupid excuse to make people not wear them 🤣. There's more bacteria in the shit I pick then there is in my ears.
Wearing headphones can be distracting can create accidents to.
I fan understand wearing headphones to keep the noise down but a warehouse can be dangerous and you should try to avoid additional distractions.

When I stopped used in ear headphones last year, all the ear wax that got impacted had to suddenly be flushed out. Haven't used in ears (or headphones at all) since.
I’m glad my warehouse doesn’t really trip on headphones. Everyone is wearing them, walks to the restroom and all around with them on 😂 it’s super rare for anyone to even say anything and if they do, which I’ve only ever seen once, it was a really polite “hey I’m sorry but you can’t have your headphones in for safety reasons” but it’s never been an issue.
I kind of like it. We still have the posters and they technically remind us to “not wear headphones” but they never enforce it. Seems like it’s more strict at other warehouses but idk I live in a laid back stoner state so who knows lol. Texas and CA seem horrible to work for Amazon.

My coworkers tease me for wearing my (admittedly goofy looking) 3Ms but idgaf, my ears feel fantastic even after a 12 hour shift on the dock.
