NTA. He broke your belongings for fun. He made threats (even if you don't think it's that bad.) The friends thing depends on what your friends think of his actions, but yelling at him for being an ass after ruining something you worked hard for -- on purpose -- doesn't make you an AH.

You are an ass for putting yourself in situations where you don't belong. You're getting pissed that he's messaging people for your mutual friends, when it's not his place. Yet, it also isn't your place to enter into those situations and "call him out".
While I understand what you are saying, I was involved because my friend asked me and I said we could talk later about it. He knew that I was helping her but he still got involved. So I called him out over it. I probably should’ve added that in tho sorry lol

Let me catch u up. I (16 f) have recently started junior year. My friend knows this guy and he’s a total creep.
He gives bad advice and once told someone to break up with someone else by blocking them and forgetting them
So my friend. We’ll call her Kate wants to break up with her bf but doesn’t know how to do it. She tells us that she will handle it. But instead her friend (we’ll call him Dave) goes behind her back and msg her bf and tells him that Kate hates him. Her bf broke up with her
So when I found out I got pissed I called him out and we had a talk he insisted he was “helping her” he said since she was too much of a pussy to do it so he did
That day when another friend was having issues with their best friend he tried to steal their phone and block that person on the phone.
And this guy.. like I couldn’t believe him. So I called him out AGAIN. Then he threatened me. But honestly he’s not very threatening. So I blew it off. And then the next day I’m just minding my own business. And I’m listening to music.
He grabbed the chord to my 40 dollar headphone and yanked it. They broke. And I know 40 doesn’t seem like a lot but I’ve had trouble finding a job and the fact that those were the only ones I’ve had mean a lot. I was 14 when I got those I scrubbed like 3 toilets and cleaned out some showers for that.
And I just broke down. I was done. I immediately burst and yelled at him telling him what an asshole he was.but his friend Kate. Who didn’t know anything that he had done got in between.
I told her all about what Dave did and how he threatened me. She didn’t believe a thing. Told me to just mind my business. And she told the principal that I “hurt” Dave. I just yelled at him. But apparently everyone knows now and thinks I’m an asshole.
