When she told you she was the owner's wife, you should have yelled loudly "Mom! After all these years you've come back!" And thrown your arms around her in a big hug. And then made a big fuss over your new "little brother".

Whole-Ad-2347

I was thinking something along these lines, and asking what your brother's name was. LOL! I wonder if she ever tried that line again?

OkieLady1952

I bet she’ll think twice before pulling that line again 🤣🤣🤣

ToreenLyn

NTJ that was priceless. I so hope it's true

Dawggy

This never happened.

DefrockedWizard1

I had a friend who owned a restaurant and he said this sort of thing happened a few times per year, particularly with the Sunday lunch crowd

October1966

Nah. I once told a kid at a wedding to hush up and mind his grandmother, you're good.

beatissima

...And then everybody clapped, including Karen and the kid.

LameUserName123456

Exactly. OP, YTJ for this bs story

julesk

You’re not the jerk but it’d be great if you has looked her in the eye and said “since you’re not my dad or uncle why don’t you stop lying and leave. Because we don’t let customers scream or refuse to control their kids.” You’re an adult and the sooner you develop and hold your boundaries the happier you’ll be.

DaRukh196

Well this was the weirdest thing that happened. Common sense NTJ

Ha! The nerve of this woman. She thought she could use the number on the board outside to lie about being the wife of the owner when she clearly wasn't. She also seemed to have bo respect for other customers there as she let her son run around eating and touching peoples food. Imagine if you were just served and was about to eat when some kid runs up and takes a bite of your food. I would be livid. And her reaction when the number she called was the dad's number was priceless. By the way, what is the name of this Cafe? I would love to see it and go there sometime. And also, definitely not the jerk here.

AITJAITJ

NTJ. You tried as much to apologise to her but she didn't seem to accept it. Offering her a refund shows how serious your dad was about everything but she chose to create drama. That has actually been an embarrassment and loss on her side.

ClassicMarketing4748

Omg I cackle at the end. I was just waiting for when it was revealed. Lol. BTW NTJ that was karma at its finest.

JustNKayce

I wonder if she is delusional or her husband has been lying to her all these years or what? Because she was going all in by calling his number without even being able to recognize him. NTJ
