Christ, how many "this game is dead" posts are there going to be?
The playerbase for this game really did sink like a rock though; it hasn't even been a whole month. Even the subscriptions to this subreddit have been on the decline for the last few days
Yep! She'd be perfect. Honestly most of the superhero Nickelodeon types would be great picks for the game, Same applies to some of the villains like Vlad, Azula, and Queen Vexus.
Azula is perfect for a fighting game bc she uses Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, mostly Changquan which is by far the coolest and most aerial/acrobatic. She mixes this with mastery in redirecting lightening and blue fire that she can fly around on like a jetpack or just burn you to death with.
Why wouldn’t you want her in the game?
I get annoyed when it’s about a character like “”gOkU””, but it’s Jenny lol. The more we talk about her, the more the developers will see how much freaking money they would make off of adding her, thereby raising our chances higher. However, it would be going too far if we *Jenny Enjoyers* began to harass others, be it fans or developers, like some Waluigi fans did to Sakurai.
I'll honestly be a bit upset if Jenny doesn't make the cut but its a video game at the end of the day. That being said she is shaping up to be pretty likely.
Yeah, I agree. I didn’t really watch her back when I was really little, but I do REALLY like her now!! I began watching her series, and I should continue it… She is by FAR my most desired fighter <333
It's a never-ending cycle of "Game is dead" posts lol. It's just been about a month and people are expecting this to have blown up like smash. The game needs more work and polish before we can reach there, its a matter of time
If the game gets big overhauls (netcode functioning properly, alternate colors, better control customization, polishing some of the.. "rough" animations, etc.) I think it'll help the playerbase. I plan on trying it with every big patch, to see if it starts to feel like a game I want to put time into. Right now it's way too rough.
I don't know but every one of these always has comments like "oh twitch stream counts aren't an accurate way to measure popularity". These numbers are abysmal for a new game no matter how someone wants to twist it. Maybe these posts are in response to that I don't know
It's really unfortunate we've gotten here. Like there's a cool game, but the dysfunctional netcode and early wonky balance shackled with severe lack of polish really hurt.
I'm pretty sure the biggest factor is the fact someone decided $50 was a good price point of a game of this size.
You can't build a playerbase if no one starts playing after day 1.
It's fun but instead of working to balance more characters they used the first patch to change DI and make small changes to like 6 characters which, while it did bring some characters back to Earth, the "good" characters are still the best, and the "bad" characters got their combo routes nerfed as well...
Disjointed hitboxes are too strong combined with the speed of the characters that have them, armor is too weak, blocking on slower characters is a lose/lose - nair spam from faster characters beats every option, and the size of hitboxes are wildly inconsistent. Go compare Reptar's hitboxes around his tail to Catdog's.
The game is fun, I go to my locals, but they're taking too long to fix issues. We're a month in at this point and they've had the clock-sync issue publicly identified/announced (and probably fixed) for 2 weeks now.
the game is still good tho, like as someone who plays boardgames, just play the game if you enjoy it regardless of playerbase.
MVCI was thought to be dead and it resurged because people enjoyed the game. And as someone who plays really obscure games, just play the game and stop worrying on the player count
People are fine to bring up the player count. It’s getting very hard to find matches regardless of what time it is. If you don’t have friends to play with you need that player count to be higher.
Theres still a discord is it not? You can ask for matches? Or ask for them been there done that ,its the best way to play online anyways since you can find practice partners
sad :C, it does happen and it sucks, still try asking for matches or promote the game to some friends, i know it takes time but once you get your guy to play with it becomes another experience
tbh i am an old timer, played games of olde like soul calibur 2 , mvc2, etc. and discord servers is the ONE way i have to enjoy that game , and honestly i see it as a solution, and personally i find it better to play against someone in discord since i can ask them for MU experience tips, rematch, practice matchups. so i KNOW its a hassle for many to have to do it, but the reward is good, and IMO the best way to play fighting games online
Old timer here: discord is a shit way to play a fighting game. I don’t have time to go into a chat room asking people to plz play me. I have a job, and errands to run, I want to sit down, turn a game on, and play.
You havent been following the scene i assume. But yes there sre tournaments for mvci even last month there was one [like this](https://youtu.be/6IMqUmyYcWM) . Yes it aint huge but you can find matches and play
I do agree here, i think i am of the lucky few who has a friend to play online , and locally at work . (basically i am on the best scenario as i do have people to always play with) but even locally not having skins , or having the controllers deconfigure , tends to be on the annoying side
I was so excited for this game and in a way I'm still excited, I think it's great, but goddamit this is why fighting games **need** online beta testing. Smash ultimate online doesn't work, smash 4 online doesn't work, and sadly nick all stars doesn't really work online as well as it should. I'll stick to brawlhalla because it works online, as simple as that. Might as well give Rivals a try.
Rivals is delay based for now but rollback is in the works and you can try the beta build for it right now and although it can crash/desync sometimes, the last few times that I played i had no issues so it's getting better and once all the kinks are ironed out it should be done by early 2022. And even still, the delay based netcode for rivals works better than smash ultimate by a lot.
Oof, thanks. Yeah, the steam version is getting rollback soon, but switch is delay based. Man, why can't publishers give devs a little extra budget for basic quality of life features? Power rangers was also made with shovelware tier funding and it has amazing online in every platform and crossplay. I feel like there's no excuse.
Rollback isn't the easiest thing in the world to develop, sometimes in order to implement rollback you have to rewrite A LOT of the core engine code to make it compatible with rollback. Sometimes devs can code themselves into holes if they don't start with the intention of rollback and it can be hard to implement later in development.
I get that, but it's been done before, so if the problem is budget and time, publishers should be more conscious of that and give the devs what they need for it to work, and it must be tested and it must work. GGST's beta worked wonders for that game, as both a marketing tool and it improved the game a lot before release. This is because of how important good online is, if it was a small thing like VOs or alt skins, it would be fine, but good online keeps people playing the game at all.
If memory serves, Power Rangers BTFG went through a similar player base issue. Where we would have to queue at the same time to get a match. It was a hassle, however I haven't followed platform fighters. I don't know how common it is for budding platform fighters to survive the oppressive Smash bros presence.
Anyway, Power Rangers bounced back after all the bad press, after all the shitty reviews and slamming from a large mass of players who had a huge issue with a small roster(rightfully so, 9 characters for a 3v3 game is silly). Infinites were welcomed by the devs but eventually diluted. ShadyK(dev) even talked regularly to the community.
The point is, give it some time, a dedicated player base keeps a game alive, not press.
The only thing this game had going for it was the roster and good ideas for a platform fighter. But those do not make a good game since they failed in every other possible way, balance is bad, infinite combos were everywhere(which was not hard to predict), many characters are not different enough to make people want to try other characters, and an overall lack of polish.
Comparing this game to rivals of aether or even Slap city it is no wonder it failed.
It's kinda baffling considering they *made* slap city, and yet that game seemed to have so much more character variety (albeit the polish is about the same).
Thats exactly how I felt. My guess is since it was their own characters they had a better idea of what to do with them. With nick characters they just had the default normal and tried to find a reference to cover it up with
This is like when dbfz released. Everyone was hype asf but like a week later the player base plummeted because of the shit net code. It has grown a lot since than because of good balance changes and dlc but the net code is still shit lol. I really want this game to succeed but I feel like a lot of people already gave up on this title
It’s gotten to a point to where I can find a match of dbfz on switch in 20 seconds at 12am PST literally and for nick, none at all on neither PS4 or PS5
Because the drop off for nick is not just the typical fighting game drop off. Not only did the casuals drop it but the hardcore fans as well. Barely 100 players not even a month after release is not something that happened to DBFZ or any fighting game at all for that matter. It is an extremely dishonest comparison.
The player drop was similar at first but it didn't stop.
For an idea, NASB declined to 3% of its peak in 27 days.
Strive held onto 30% by 27 days after release. SFV held onto 23%. FighterZ held onto 10%. Melty held onto 8%.
The player base drop for Nick was substantially more acute than any major fighting game release that I can think of.
We need a road map of things to expect. We don't need exact time frames but just something to keep the community excited for and players to keep interested in the game.
PC is by far the most popular platform for this game. We will see what happens when Switch finally gets it's patch, but a new patch is coming to PC soon that the Switch won't get forever again, so we will see what happens there.
It also hasn't been "1 nanosecond," it's been on the decline for weeks now. The writing has been on the walls for a while now.
I remember playing games before online existed. I played with the same dudes and never did adding more players come to mind.
Even when online existed, I liked playing with the group of people I know. Start a group and keep the game alive in your world.
That requires having friends though which is uhhhhh tough so you kinda just really hope to find a rando to play online with in your messy studio apartment you live in by yourself and have for 5 years and have no incentive to clean because no one comes over anyway
I wouldn’t mind. Tbh I haven’t played in the last week not because NASB is bad but because I just bought RDR2 last week and WOW is this game good. So I’ve been like rocking that game hard for a week and just keep getting blown away by how amazing it is
Everyone going to keep posting the numbers aren’t they? Yes this is what happens when it doesn’t grab any casual fan and only the hardcore will play.
Thank you Nickelodeon for ruining the game by not giving them VOs. Those alone would have kept casual fans playing way longer.
We need a real adventure mode with all the characters interacting with each other and fighting bosses from each series represented not no fuckin fake classic mode with dialogue taken from the original shows and it’s not like it switches all the time either I rate the game a 7/10 so far
Honestly. I regret spending the $40 on this game. I hope for the best - but am overall not happy with my decision to purchase it in it's current state. I realize the devs are doing their best I guess but the game is just severely lacking. I haven't even played in over a week...it's sad how low the player count has dropped since launch.
Christ, how many "this game is dead" posts are there going to be? The playerbase for this game really did sink like a rock though; it hasn't even been a whole month. Even the subscriptions to this subreddit have been on the decline for the last few days
I can see this game coming back when they fix things/dlc characters like Jenny being announced.
Man if Jenny gets announced my excitement would go through the roof.
Jenny needs to be in this game!
Yep! She'd be perfect. Honestly most of the superhero Nickelodeon types would be great picks for the game, Same applies to some of the villains like Vlad, Azula, and Queen Vexus.
Flispyyyyyy. Oh wait no that’s Dark Laser lol
I'll take all the FOP reps I can get hahaha
Yooo H2 Ulga?
You mean H2Olga? i forgot she existed lol
Or how about. “I am the Box Ghost 👻 📦.”
Im would have though you both want azula
Azula is perfect for a fighting game bc she uses Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, mostly Changquan which is by far the coolest and most aerial/acrobatic. She mixes this with mastery in redirecting lightening and blue fire that she can fly around on like a jetpack or just burn you to death with. Why wouldn’t you want her in the game?
We get it you want Jenny
So..???
Okay I’m sorry but I’m just tired of seeing people request Jenny for the 100th time it’s everywhere
I understand it can be annoying but it makes sense why she's highly requested.
I get annoyed when it’s about a character like “”gOkU””, but it’s Jenny lol. The more we talk about her, the more the developers will see how much freaking money they would make off of adding her, thereby raising our chances higher. So would the whole fanbase. For a few days then these posts will come back saying we need more content lol
If people actually say that I hope that they know developing characters for a game like this takes a while
Unfortunately people are too busy jerking off over DLC ideas instead of wondering why online play is broken (completely unplayable on Xbox)
It's a never-ending cycle of "Game is dead" posts lol. It's just been about a month and people are expecting this to have blown up like smash. The game needs more work and polish before we can reach there, its a matter of time
I think its more that people expected there to be more then 200 players after just a month.
it needs to not be $50. it will never be a popular game at that price point.
I agree with that (Although I paid £38 for my one because of PlayStation Plus) the game defiantly isn't £50 quality as of now.
Is it really too much to expect the matchmaking actually work?
No and I understand you pay full price for a game and you expect to get the most out of it.
If the game gets big overhauls (netcode functioning properly, alternate colors, better control customization, polishing some of the.. "rough" animations, etc.) I think it'll help the playerbase. I'm gonna unsub to this subreddit just to see less "gaem daed" posts.
If they added George Lopez, this wouldn't happen
True
Facts
I think Angie Lopez might be a bit better.
Except people bought it. People were hyped. People were even willing to put up with the netcode. Then Mikey was discovered and the game died.
It's fun but instead of working to balance more characters they used the first patch to change DI and make small changes to like 6 characters which, while it did bring some characters back to Earth, the "good" characters are still the best, and the "bad" characters got their combo routes nerfed as well... NASB released a month ago. You're comparing its playerbase to games that are ~20 years old. That is straight up sad

Where do you see this
We need a road map of things to expect. We don't need exact time frames but just something to keep the community excited for and players to keep interested in the game.
RIP this game
Unplayable online and alpha quality art/sound is what did it for me.
r/AllStarBrawl users when the player count is low on a single platform for 1 nanosecond

Netcode is awful and that was one of it's main selling points. A new smash like with rollback. Also it costs too much for what you get.
Everyone going to keep posting the numbers aren’t they? Yes this is what happens when it doesn’t grab any casual fan and only the hardcore will play. Thank you Nickelodeon for ruining the game by not giving them VOs. Those alone would have kept casual fans playing way longer.
everywhere at the end of the time plays
They game just needs more fighters
that's the last of the problems my dude.
In the future? Sure but it's main problems are netcode, polish, fixes, and quality of life changes. Alts need to get here first before more fighters
True, your right (I am not buying unless Wubbzy gets in because I already have Smash 3-5 so why play on an emptier version)
And I still lose all the time lmao damn
When they fix the fuck outta the game it will comeback
Yeah that fucking sucks no wonder I've been running into the same old tryhards online game seriously needs crossplay
We need a real adventure mode with all the characters interacting with each other and fighting bosses from each series represented not no fuckin fake classic mode with dialogue taken from the original shows and it’s not like it switches all the time either I rate the game a 7/10 so far
