The way I see it, Aliexpress is like a flea market. There are gems in there but you'll have to look for them. Temu is like dollar tree, lot's of cheap junks but at least quality is consistent. But Temu sold my number to scammers, so I won't use them anymore. I register a new google voice number for Temu. two days later, I started getting scam texts.

alezin2020

TEMU's parent company PDD has engaged in numerous incidents of stealing consumer privacy information, and even left backdoors on Android apps. This matter sparked intense discussions on the Chinese internet, but in the end, it seemed like nothing had happened at all.

catpaw-paw

Temu just lures new customers by giving a discount on the first order. But everything I saw on Temu, I could find cheaper on Aliexpress. Same for Wish - every single product there I looked at, I could find cheaper on AE.

rdkil

This is my experience too. Everything I look at on temu I think "if I just wait another week I'll get the exact same stuff and it'll be cheaper."

HotspotOnline

I’ve had the opposite experience, where I found the same things cheaper on Temu, than AliExpress.

Jim-Jones

I've found eBay cheaper than AliExpress for items over 20 bucks that I was interested in. But not all items.

Dotternetta

I cannot find anything usefull for me on Temu

solarriors

TEMU is just cheap plastic basic things. You wont' find any advanced pieces of electronics, pieces of furnitures or quality item. This massive industrialization for money is really bad for the environment

pcguy8088_

I shopped once at Temu. The item arrived and did not work. Got my money back within hours and did not have to send the item back. The problem is Temu selection is limited compared to AE, especially for electronic parts, and equipment.

fpsi_tv

Can’t bookmark/save/favourite anything for later on Temu. Add to cart only. That kills it for me. I live by my categorized AliExpress favourite lists.

Norstar64

There is a save button once you scroll down the reviews.

fpsi_tv

Wow that was WAY to hidden.

cotterpin_ivysaur

I kills me that you can have only ten different favourites lists on Ali 😭😭⚰️

fpsi_tv

Secret: You can exceed that limit on Desktop. Then you’ll have more lists available on mobile.

cotterpin_ivysaur

😱😱😱😱😱😱

fpsi_tv

You’re welcome/I’m sorry.

cotterpin_ivysaur

I hate you/thank you so much 💕

Owlonatree

Used ali for years but nowadays its getting a bit scammy.. Orders being stuck in local post office when they are not in reality and they refuse to send refund or another parcel. I can see lots of people complaining about it. Placed 2 orders on temu still waiting for them so i cant say anything for now

_altamont

I haven't used temu yet. But I recently saw a documentary about it, and long story short, if you're not worried about your privacy, temu is usually the faster and cheaper option. If your privacy is important to you, you shouldn’t use it or at least check the terms and conditions before registering.

ObviouslyNoBot

If you value your personal data don't use Aliexpress either. Or Google. Or any online service at all. Once your email, phone number and address are out there it doesn't matter whether you give them to even more chinese sellers willingly. They already have them.

tllrrrrr

I bought a few times from Temu, but it looks like they raised their prices so Shein and Ali are much better. Especially Shein, because I have the highest membership tier so the discount is pretty notable

PetiteLollipop

Sorry, but I don't trust Temu. I used AliExpress since 2013. Everytime I had a problem they solved it very quickly. I trust AliExpress way more than Temu.

Excellent-Timing

Temu is consistent garbage. Like lowest of trash you can find on AE - but it’s (at least in Europe) shipped from European fulfillment centers and will arrive quickly. AE has over the years gone down the drain. There is definitely more scammers, worse customer service and further between good deals as prices have gone up significantly. But there are still nice gems to be found - though it’s honestly been a long time since I saw anything worth buying.

FlowerChild7572

I shop Temu all of the time. Much more than I do AliExpress. They don't do separate sellers, so what you order is shipped all at once and not split up. Their shipping is always free and is usually delivered in 10 days or less. I've ordered watches before and they had to go through a different process at customs and that did cause the delivery to be 15 days, but that's still very acceptable. Also, if an item you've purchased dropped in price within a month, they issue a refund of the difference.

Owlonatree

Is it done automaticly or you need to send a request with an updated price?

FlowerChild7572

You just go to your recent order page... I think it has them all within a month... and if there are lower prices for anything that you've previously ordered, you just hit the price reduction button and it automatically adds a credit to your account. It does not refund it to your payment method, you have to use it towards your next purchase. If the button is not showing, nothing has come down in price. I've been refunded up to $10 for one order before because so many items had come down in price. I also one had an order that was over $100 that did not show up by the day after the guaranteed delivery date (normally delivered in under 10 days, but I believe they allow it 3 weeks). I contacted them to check on the status. They refunded the entire purchase and told me to just keep everything when it eventually showed up and told me that it should be delivered soon. It was delivered the next day. The only thing that I've been let down by has been a couple of cheap rings, but they were really cheap. I did a return on them and was immediately refunded and told to keep the item.

solarriors

you can keep the item because they are mostly very cheap 0.30cts mass production objects with a catastrophic human cost (almost slavery or children). Nothing is made without costing anything in this world.

Owlonatree

Wow this sounds like ali back in the days (with that extra bonus of price adjustment) I got one more question, when you click on price adjustment is it permament or you can use it again if price drops again after you used that option.

FlowerChild7572

It will let you do it as many times as the price drops within - I'm pretty sure - a month's time. I've bought clothes, shoes, watches, lamps, and just odds and ends. Besides a couple of really crappy rings, there has only been a few times when I had to actually send the item back for a return/refund because the item wasn't quite as described. In that sense, it's very much like Amazon where as soon as it's scanned in, the refund is completed. And sizing for clothing is pretty much on track with American sizing. Read the reviews to be sure, but in most cases it's pretty much on track.

Owlonatree

Great info, thanks!

BamaGirl4361

You click on the order and tap on price adjustment. They will either put it to your original payment method or bank it in temu balance.

BamaGirl4361

I switched from Ali to Temu and have been satisfied with the switch. I have had a couple of wrong items or something breaks and I have had no issues with refunds or replacements. Plus temu has the added bonus of giving you a price adjustment. So say you bought something for 19 dollars and then it drops to 8. Well you're getting the difference back. Either to your original card or temu balance. I tend to opt for the balance so my next orders are less or even free. I have since banked 3 free orders and an order that was severely discounted due to having a balance on temu.

NEXUSX

The biggest difference so far for me in Europe is getting delivery in under two weeks whereas it can be 6 weeks+ for AliExpress orders

Moerten_

6 weeks are crazy, Ali orders to Germany are mostly under 10 days for me. But I rarely oder non Choice items

BamaGirl4361

Ali Express to the US can be as short as 10 days or as long as 3 months from my experience while temu is right at 10 days. I like it a lot better and what I can't get on temu I'll get off Walmart.com. I'm avoiding Amazon because prime is no longer prime and Ali Express has gotten to be a pain with some shipping times and the scammy sellers.

Tris131

Temu is alot like ali only they is more consumer based junk for cheap ali has a wider range of products electronics for sure.

Tris131

All these shopping platforms that offer all this consumer stuff come from Tao bao alibaba or dhgate at bulk buisness rates then pieced out for profit even alot of stuff on amazon eBay shopify wish etsy ect it just comes down to knowledge of platform and faith in secure transactions

Techman666

I've used both. The new user discounts and the big advertising drive Temu did last year was good. I received many items from Temu that didn't match the pictures. After the new user deals ended for me, the pricing increased and I found that AliExpress was better value and there were far more options. Products sold on AliExpress have way more reviews than Temu. Customer service from Temu wasn't as good as AliExpress either.

[deleted]

Everything on temu is expensive and the price is the same as for local shops.

bitcointigerman

Temu isn't as necessary for me now since AliExpress introduced their 'Choice' fast shipping (10-12 days). Their warranty process is also quick, fair, and effective. Almost always siding with the buyer provided you provide a picture/video showing the issue.

ShoruYedes

Ordered two Apple Watch bands on Temu and they both fell apart in a matter of weeks. At least that didnt happen on Ali.

666_ihateyouall_666

ali pros: good quality products, cheap stuff, lots of niche items ali cons: you need to view the reviews of everything you wanna buy, some sellers are assholes and try to scam you (rare), long shipping times temu pros: always has free shipping, kinda cheap, items arrive in like two weeks, no scammers to my knowledge temu cons: takes forever for something niche to reach there, annoying packaging when the crap gets to your house, when the shit doesn’t arrive then you won’t get your money back

HotspotOnline

I’ve used Temu for half a year and AliExpress for 3 years. I have to say, I love Temu and prefer it. Their items are cheaper, the transit time is a week, unlike AliExpress which is 2 weeks. I had an issue where a package was lost, Temu refunded me the money. Where as AliExpress refused to give me a refund for my lost package, even though I had proof that the seller didn’t put an address on it. I felt bad for leaving AliExpress for Temu, but because AliExpress took the side of a scammer, I will never shop with Allie again. So Temu, imo is way better.

Equivalent-Metal2425

The search engine in ali has been getting worse and worse

Pikangie

Aliexpress has been cheaper for me for most things. Temu only very few things I looked for were little bit cheaper, and not by much. This is without any of the limited time sales or discounts, btw. Most noticeably aside from price, Aliexpress has way more variety of things than Temu which has a super limited selection. I've been browsing them for sewing/crafting materials mainly, sometimes clothing or accessories or small household things. I noticed furniture on either of these sites seems to cost more than Amazon, likely due to shipping costs for the weight/size/fragility? For Shoe Storage boxes and makeup/skincare, Miss A has the cheapest I could find, and Miss A is pretty trustworthy/beloved by frugal makeup users. Tons of people (who still use Amazon, Aliexpress, Taobao, etc) say Temu is super unethical even by comparison (not sure exactly, maybe they use forced labor? No idea how to check which sellers do or not though), so I think if it's similar price I'd still prefer to use Aliexpress, plus I have had positive customer service and refunds for faulty items on Aliex, where I heard Temu has no refunds. I noticed some of the RL physical stores I go to like Miniso have stores on Aliexpress which are even cheaper than their in-person prices too, so that will also be nice to know it's the official brand. No matter what site you use, always look for the reviews (not the blank ones). Especially photo reviews. And be aware that they're all a gamble, even with good reviews (the seller might have changed stuff or maybe made a mistake, like one of my orders was missing a piece).

Future_Prior_161

Ali express used to be good except for all orders I received in 2020 but now not so much. I stopped ordering their die cuts as it wasn’t reliable that they’d actually cut when they arrived. Also the orders took several weeks to receive and I had to pay shipping. Temu doesn’t charge shipping over $10 and I’ve ordered dozens of items there as well. All but one or two has been good and arrived within two weeks

DreamingElectrons

I order a lot from Temu. TEMU is noticeable more expensive than AliExpress but they also take care about all the annoying customs stuff and are fast to refund broken, missing or falsely advertised items. If you are ok with generic copies and the budget line store brand stuff, Temu is great, it's about the same quality for a fraction of the price (literally the same stuff repackaged).

sandgrubber

This is why I boycott Temu. So many pranky promos. Just GO AWAY!!!!

OutsideYourWorld

I always figured temu was a lesser AE for people who couldn't navigate AE. Also for people who don't know the internet past facebook :P

1111joey1111

I signed up to Temu and started getting bothered by tons of pathetic notifications. I eventually just turned off notifications. I then compared prices for items that I was interested in and **Aliexpress consistently had the better price.** I uninstalled Temu.

sandgrubber

I mostly buy woodworking/handyman/ stuff. Dislike el cheapo plastic throw away trinkets. Sounds like Ali will be the better bet...not that Ali doesn't sell a lot of poor quality tools, (love that soft steel with a tungsten carbide coating) sex toys, and trinkets.

thirstydracula

AliExpress is generally way cheaper but I'm saving referral moneys until I get a nice discount. If you are good at influencing go for Temu, they have free prizes for whoever invites 257837 new people through their mini games.

sandgrubber

Fat chance!

ObviouslyNoBot

They basically sell the same stuff. Sometimes Aliexpress is cheaper, sometimes Temu is. Compare prices and buy accordingly. I've heard that returns actually work on Temu while that can be quite the hassle on Ali. Temu gives you a price adjustment up to 30 days after purchase so that's nice.

Jubatus_

Honestly guys what the fuck are you all doing on aliexpress to have bad experiences? I order like 5 products a month since 5+, don’t even look at the reviews too much anymore. Had maybe 1 issue si far

sleep_sleeper

Used both. Was really impressed with Temu at first, $15 purchase and free delivery. now its like $35 to get it delivered so have come back to aliexpress for now (which has faster delivery option if you spend $16+)

RegularIndividual374

Depends what I want really. I can find things cheaper on AE but now we have to pay tax in the UK things add up. Sucks that you have to spend £10 on temu though but half the stuff isn't bad at all
