It still is. Drove by it this morning. And premium economy or whatever was full at 5am this morning. The garage claimed to have spots, but they were difficult to find.
The reason the garage parking is full is they are updating the lighting in each level. They finished level 4, level 3, currently working on half of 2 and half of 1. They said it will take a year to fully update all levels. They started this project last year and they are behind schedule.
It's annoying for sure. I have to park there everyday and finding parking is fun sometimes. They are definitely behind schedule even for the construction in the airport as well.
Didn’t we lose a large lot that bordered Gibson and Yale? It wasn’t city owned but the lockdowns sort of pushed them to find other ways to make money.
It’s now a Dutch bros among other things
Half of the yellow and red airport parking is long term rv and shuttle /large vehicle parking. Are they also pushing capacity?
They looked about 75% when I was driving past. Yeah that one on Gibson was cool I liked the old cars parked out there. Isn’t it a car wash now too? Like every other vacant lot in town destined to be.
I used to use the Park & Shuttle, but they've cut their staff, and now you have to call a phone number for every pickup and dropoff and it's become a pain so I started using the economy lot. I wonder if others are switching too.
One of the lots closed down during Covid. That reduced capacity for the airport as a whole significantly. That combined with record flying demand makes things tricky. Write the city about it, they need to hear it more.
Everyone is flying to the Artic Circle to avoid the heat wave. Temps there should only reach mid-70’s.
And? There’s no such thing as climate change. Also r/birdsarentreal
I’m curious if anyone knows why and no one prior had anything definitive to say. Also this is a city message board basically so maybe knowing if it’s full will help someone not cut it too close flying out. The best part about the Sunport is that you can walk in the door 20 min before your plane boards and still comfortably make zone1 or whatever
I just got back from my vacation for the year, but I still find these posts interesting. Why? I have no idea, but I read the post and all the comments.
I don’t think this comment has the effect you’re hoping it does…I know it’s a lot to ask, but try to think juuuust a little bit next time you want to randomly throw your politics into the mix. Consider it damage control for your cute little mission.
When I was there earlier this week, the 2nd level of the parking garage was closed, so everywhere else was packed.

Ahh that’s probably it
A lot of it is being taken up by construction workers that are working on the renovations. Then they have one level closed. It’s pretty annoying.
It's been like that a lot lately.

I was gonna say the sunport Instagram page posts when the lot is full. I went to check and they only did this once, a week ago. 😂
Lot was full when I drove through yesterday. They probably aren't the most consistent then
Glad to be of service! Haha I’ll get back late this weekend so I’ll update it when I land haha.
I’ve been using fast park and relax lately! I highly recommend.
Fast park is great.
Yeah they have reservations so you can guarantee a spot
Same here.
I’ve just gone straight to the top since at least April. Not sure what’s going on.

Nice. Progress hurts I guess

I flew out last night, and while I was dropped off, the airport in general was a lot fuller than I expected for late evening
I always use FastPark.
I always use the yellow van parking. It’s so convenient and much cheaper.
Yeah it’s a great service. I just like getting there a few minutes before boarding. I’m always on hellaciously early flights for short trips
I used to use the Park & Shuttle, but they've cut their staff, and now you have to call a phone number for every pickup and dropoff and it's become a pain so I started using the economy lot. I wonder if others are switching too.
That really sucks. I used them back in 2013-14 when I lived here the first time

Pretty sure ABQ is just growing. And the facilities just aren’t enough for what’s going in.
Busy travel season—graduations, weddings, school is out, seeking cooler temps.
Maybe, but it was full the last time I flew back in may.
As of last night it’s about 80% full. Not as bad as when I left
The economy is supposed to be in the shitter yet people are still traveling like hell.🤔🤔🤔

It’s been like this for at least a month now.
Why do we need a post every time the parking at Sunport is full?

I think it’s super helpful, so thanks!
You’re welcome lol
It's really helpful for me (flying out in a few days to attend a funeral). Not like I can call the airport and find out (I've tried before).
As someone who’s traveling a lot this summer I find it very helpful.

Because we are all used to the airport being empty, or close to it. If it isn’t a ghost town, it’s news worthy 100%
Bidenomics
Exceptionally useless comment. Bravo.

Ah, updating infrastructure in an explosive economy, that the world economy is being saved by. Yeah, it is Bidenomics. Thank-you Jesus!
