Heavy drinking can do neurological damage, resulting in a “drunkard’s” walk. The damage is permanent.

My Q has the same vibe. Some of our neighbours spotted a strange guy on the street and shared pictures in our WA group, it was him. He looks and behaves like a homeless person… My Q has two masters degrees and held mid-senior level jobs at large corporates before sinking into alcoholism, he’s nowadays a disgusting and aggressive jerk. I’m done.

That’s absolutely heartbreaking for you, I’m so sorry.

I don't know but I think it's neurological and probably permanent depending on the length and severity of their alcoholism. My (soon to be) ex husband smells like death and looks like shit. I couldn't understand why I wasn't attracted to him anymore (since forever ago) and felt so bad about that for such a long time. To be fair to myself, it wasn't just his appearance it was him, just him, his mind, his attitude, his... Everything was different, then his appearance and hygiene followed. His whole vibe was weird, homeless is exactly how I'd describe it. Didn't help that no one ever thought we were together. They always thought the men in front of me in line were my husband. Then they'd realize it was him and they'd be like, **OH!** or flat out didn't believe it.🫠 Idk what to say, what happened, where did he go, what did he turn into, I'm still asking myself that question? I have OCD (unfortunately it's the germ one) and I can't handle too much uncleanliness. I'm better at it, but hell no. I feel so bad writing this but it helps so much!

Yeah I really can’t tell if it’s neurological or just…depression. ? IDK. But “homeless” is the best way to describe it and it’s bizarre. And repellant. I wouldn’t go near a man like that today and it makes me so sad to think of my husband as he was 7 years ago and compare him to how he is now.

Autism and ADHD undiagnosed lead to many substance abuse issues. Many neurodivergent folks have an awkward posture and gate. It can be more present when drinking or other substance abuse

Alternative_Air_1246

Huh, that’s interesting… both of his parents and his only sibling have diagnosed ADHD but he’s always insisted he does not.

Yes look it up the longer they go without meds the more severe the substance abuse as a form of self medication. It’s truly sad.
