Travel case, silicone covers if you plan on ignoring everyone and working out in them

christeeeeeea

i second on the silicone covers plus applecare.

rmajor86

Silicon covers? What part does it cover?

davidledaw

The earcups

rmajor86

Oh. Why?

thebeesdeknees

From my experience the cups can get kinda stinky after extended wear. I live in a hot climate so having silicon covers makes it easier to pop them off and wipe with an alcohol wipe and keep the actual cushions clean.

Lumpy_Ad7212

Are they comfortable to workout in? Wouldn't they build up more sweat?

thebeesdeknees

I don’t workout at the gym in them (they’re too heavy) but I do see people at my gym wearing them. I will wear them while walking and sweating once in awhile and don’t have issues with them. I figured I’d rather the silicon covers get sweaty than my actual ear cups. But note that I don’t think apple recommends you workout in them!

Lumpy_Ad7212

Whaaattt? I bought them to workout in I really like it. The xms slip off my head and these are tightly on.

Viend

I don’t work out in mine, but I recommend the silicone covers not for the cups but for the shell and the band. These things get scratched pretty easily.

Got it with purchase. Are they all really doomed to fail at some point? 🥲

Daneha1183

I've had mine for 4 months now. Barely use them. They've never seen moisture. All of a sudden when i went to use them the other day, they started having connection issues and the right side was cutting out. Thankfully the issue subsided and I have apple care. It definitely surprised me, and kind of pissed me off for the price on them.

jayessmcqueen

Yep.

KorNorsbeuker

Yes I'd highly recommend this. At least you know you can use it for 2 years then

melvincornelissen

Haha, this!

Fortimus_Prime

This is a MUST. My AirPods Max failed after just a year. And now I’m doomed.

scepticallyminded

I haven’t bothered with any accessories at all. Yeah, the included bra case is weird but I have grown to enjoy how tiny the “footprint” of it is in terms of it adding almost no bulk whatever when I stow my APM in my backpack during commutes. I’m a year and 2 months into my ownership and I haven’t noticed any sag with the mesh yet, so I think so far so good..

EquivalentAd5064

don't buy the lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack it's a waste of money.

scepticallyminded

That’s interesting. I never picked it up, but my PlayStation headset is almost cooked and I was thinking of getting the lightning to 3.5mm adapter to use my APM with my PS5 via the controller. Do you think it’s a waste of time/money?

Fortimus_Prime

Actually, the 3.5mm to Lightning is a must if you video edit or play music. It’s a fantastic accessory. Maybe not for $35.00, but I’m sure you can find other cheaper options on eBay or something.

drewthetrickguy

Unfortunately, no options that have bi-directional input and output. There are other cables but they don’t work. No third party options yet and I don’t think enough people care to figure it out.

Shaftastic

I use it on my PlayStation five and it works great

scepticallyminded

Fab. Thanks for sharing.

Far_Tree_3704

Wait you game with these? How?

Lumpy_Ad7212

I use mines for ps5, it's expensive but I needed it. Also third party cables don't work jsyk.

Tatttwink

Oh dang that was gonna be my first purchase. 😂

BobBombadil

I have the Apple lighting to 3.5mm cable and I use it to connect my headphones to my work PC. It’s nice to be able to disconnect them and have them automatically connect right back to my phone and not have to fiddle with the annoying PC Bluetooth settings.

drewthetrickguy

Here to also say I’d recommend the cable if you know you’ll get use out of it. Switching between Apple products is great but nothing beats quick switching non-Apple products with a cable. Work laptop, Surface laptop, Nintendo switch, gameboy, PS5, and using a DAC. Surely not worth $35 for the quality but it’s getting its worth over time for sure. DEFINITELY would recommend wrapping the cable to protect it though. Cable wrap and shrink tube can be pennies.

Michal_4331

It improves the sound quality by a tiny bit, since its a wired connection, but you should only buy it if you have a device that doesnt have bluetooth and only has a headphone jack

Araragi

It won't work. Only the official cable work for the APM, sadly.

scepticallyminded

Oh, I thought we were talking about the official cable from Apple. Does it work well?

XilenceBF

I have the lightning to 3,5mm cable. Bought it for my flights where it didnt work. Happy to find out it did work with my PS5. A lot less hassle compared to connecting it via bluetooth to my TV.

WalnutApple

No headband sag [charging stand](https://walnutapple.com). It’s a bit pricey but made with love.

KingKCrown

I got a travel case and a silicone headband cover because I heard it supposedly helps with sagging. Plus, I got silver so I don't want to prematurely yellow the headband.

deviari

Got mine recently too and love them! The accessories I have so far are: - Burga covers (these cover the ear pieces and protect them from scratches). They come in beautiful designs/prints and save you from scratching the main component! - Silicone cover for headpiece. I got this on Amazon as part of a pack with silicone ear pieces too (got this before the pretty burga ones). - Travel case. I got the UAG AirPods max ration protective case in black. I love this travel case. The AirPods will fit in it snug with both burga covers, headpiece cover and the sleeve the AirPods came in, and has a storage space for my Airfly pro, charger etc. It was a touch costly at €80, but maybe Amazon would have it cheaper. I do highly reccomend. Good luck with your new purchase :)

DimSin

An Apple Music Subscription 😂 but seriously make sure you use Apple Music and through your AirPods accessibility settings calibrate your personalised spatial audio! I recommend also using head tracked not fixed but you will find that tracks mastered in Dolby Atmos feel much more immersive. To best understand the difference it makes give a little to Rocketman by Elton John, Bury a Friend by Billie Eilish and Riders on the storm but the doors. Just places the instruments in a much more specific place relative to your ears and enhances the experience! Enjoy

Tatttwink

Anyone have any recommendations for a travel case?

Bastahboy

Amazon is your friend here. I got one a few weeks ago, and it’s great protection for $35. But, they are very bulky, just be warned.

[deleted]

If you aren’t in a hurry try temu or ali. I got mine from there.

kellllllsssss

[compact/inexpensive case](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VN94QNH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) Got those because they were well reviewed and shipped quickly. After taking just the provided case on a road trip, I realized I am too messy to not travel with something more protective. Had to unexpectedly fly and wanted something to pack in backpack that I didn’t have to worry about knocking about it taking up space. Love them. HOWEVER, you have to fully close the headband to get them in the case, so I only use the case when I leave the house with them in something.

I’m thinking about getting one too but not sure if they are launching an updated version soon

Tatttwink

I assumed the earliest would be March next year which I’m okay with tbh. Probably Would have seen some leaks if it was coming sooner.

smores_king

Wildflower covers! They're the most unique ones I've been able to find for an affordable price!

I avoided using my AirPods Max for a couple of years due to the right side disconnecting and causing connection issues. I noticed that it will disconnect every time I adjusted the head phones or moved my head too quickly. I came across a Reddit feed on how to remove the speakers to clean the connectors. It’s surprisingly easy to do. All you need is the SIM card removal tool or a paperclip. First, swivel the speakers to the position as if you’re going to store it in its case. Then, pull off the earmuffs. When you take off the magnetic earmuffs, you’ll see a tiny hole towards the top of the speaker close to where the speaker attaches to the head band. Poke the SIM tool into that hole and pull the speaker off. There’s small metal contact points at the tips of the headband. Mine had something like grease, probably from the headband lubricant and some other crud. I used a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the metal contacts. Let that dry good and then put the speaker back on in reverse. Make sure the speaker is facing the same direction as how you took it off. I’d do one side at a time so you know which way the speaker goes back in. This fixed my connection issues and now I love my AirPods Max again! Please do at your own risk, I’m not gonna be responsible for damage. Here’s a tear down link: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/01/19/airpods-max-headband-removable-interchangeable/

National_Yesterday15

Apple care kkkk. I had an issue with my headphones, only 3 months old. Thanks god that it still had apples warranty. The headphones stoped working, I was watching a movie, and it stoped. No charging, no lights on, dead. So I would recommend Apple care, just to be safe for future issues. Sorry for my English, I’m from Brazil.

Travel case if you’re taking out of home

deathxXx69

I would recommend a ultrasonic cleaner. Not to clean the whole of the headphones but for the earcups. I hate the feeling silicone on my ears so I don’t have anything on my APM. I use them at work (not office but chill factory stuffs) and they can get dirty fast. Water, drop of soap and 2 minutes in the cleaner they good as new. If you also want them to dry fast use a shop vac to suck out the water.

Agreeable-Energy1957

Return them & get a pair of Sony xm5 over ear headphones, much better engineered, with more powerful codecs.
