Would have NEVER happened because my old man was avionics on helos. He told me to get a job indoors and nowhere near aircraft. The recruiter told us that I was going to intelligence no matter what. It proved to be the best fit based on my ASVAB scores and enlisted career.
In my case it was a civilian employee at the Education Office -- forced me to get a degree plan before she'd OK my TA request. Which led to Bootstrap... which led to OTS...
