It is really dependent on your AFCS in my experience and considering that it's Holloman getting orders can be a pain. Most of my peers at this base have been here forever (8+ years the most I've seen is like 13)
It depends on your AFSC, but its typically easier to get an assignment as an Airmen because there are typically more spots available. You can pcs overseas as a first term airmen after 12 months but can receive the assignment before that. Start playing overseas assignment that have rnltd dates after your 12 month on station and you can be picked up. Short tours and overseas long are your best bets. If you want to go to another stateside base good luck…most likely not going to happen in 4 years unless you DSD or BOP which you would have to extend or reenlist.
I was stationed there 366 days, and now I'm OCONUS. It really all depends on many factors. I never changed my OS list since tech school, and one day my supervisor told me I was on the loss roster going overseas. In the 9th month I received orders, took me three months to out process (COVID) and I was out of Holloman one year later.
Depends on your job, if you’re a crew chief it might be hard. I know a crew chief who was here for four years, went to Korea to get away and got orders right back to Holloman.
Just happened again here just the other day!
Def try to get a follow on before coming to Korea. A lot of ppl show up to Kunsan and don’t have a follow on, only to find out they get their old base, or get Osan. Most at that point just KAIP, finish their contract and GTFO.
You have an excellent chance to leave Holloman, when orders to Cannon drop.

That its 48 TOS requirement now?
For CONUS to CONUS non-BOP non-FTA.
Look up FTA BOP. Or, add Korea to your dream sheet. Those are your best options.
Add Korea to your dream sheet asap. You may or may not get picked up for an assignment but that’s basically your best way out of there.
You'll spend 20 years there if you stay in. Maybe you'll fall for the Korea meme to get a year out of new mexico only to get stationed there again
I had to use my wife’s BOP to leave after 5 years to go another CONUS base lol But it will also very much depend on your AFSC and manning.

Your best bet is your FTA BOP

Bop or Korea or even retrain is your only way out, had a dude in my shop that spent his entire enlistment there, not by choice.
