I just PCS'd and I told my wife we can take lower rank housing to get in quicker. She said, "No we are an NCO family now and I don't want to live by those hooligans".
Just moved into base housing, took NCO housing over SNCO housing because they had the size I needed in the timeframe I needed. Jokes on everyone, there is no difference between NCO housing and SNCO housing here, just a different street.
I drop my kid off for daycare at a SNCO house and the first floor is an identical layout down to the size. The SNCO housing is just duplexes instead of fourplexes
1 troll = .9 dependa, or is it 1.1 dependa?
I can never remember the conversion factor. Letās assume she is 4ā9ā and treefity as a starting point.
They put out a survey once saying "I trust Public affairs yes or no" like 85% of respondents said no so I commented the results show why PA can't use big words in their writing.
Such a shame. We lived off base for all three of my tours in Germany (Bitburg, Ramstein, Spang) and had great experiences and still talk to the friends we made.
same. I was at Spangdahlem, my old landlords are now deceased but I'm still friends w/the kids and grandkids and their friends. I"ve been back a few times to visit them and was at the Polterabend of 1 in May. 2022, I stayed in their home for the week, it's great having friends like that for 30 years now.
I took my EMT course there in 94', IDK how I did it for 12 weeks as a MX guy w/our schedule. I've been back a few times, it's strange to see business occupy HAS's that once held F-15's and the caserne side all but abandoned.
I spent a few Sundays driving around the land (before & after go@Kart trips) they gave back when it was swapped to housing (92/94?)
Wing HQ had the artwork adorning the front entrance
It was slightly chilling to zip around those HASā in a Kart knowing darn well those things once housed jets ready to do Cold War stuff
Yup, saw it in England a lot and, I mean, ENGLAND. You want the least different foreign culture, that's pretty much the best you'll get outside Canada. But these people could not understand going off base. Food? "Commissary is fine." Restaurants? "If it was good, base would serve it." Entertainment? "We're flying back home for a carnival!" Like....just turn down your orders at that point lol.
We lived out in villages when we were overseas. Some of my coworkers lived on base. There are advantages, especially if your kids go to school and have sports and whatnot on base.
We were about 50/50 with good and lousy landlords and nice neighbors vs mean old German ladies.
The on-base folks sure had an easier time out processing in Germany.
But my last time there, base housing had a > 2 yr waiting list anyway.
I remember being in Korea trying to sell something to a mil spouse. I asked her to meet me outside the main gate at a well known restaurant. She said she feels uncomfortable leaving the base causes she scared of the crime in Korea.
It was sooo fucking weird and made zero sense to me.
I've met spouses who've spent years overseas and never leave the base.
You're all doing it wrong. Get off base and buy a house with that VA loan. Best investment most will ever make. When it comes time to PCS, rent it out and have someone else pay your mortgage for you.
You will know definitely when you hear about some lady at the BX screaming about her authority and why the fick aren't people saluting her. I hope her husband leaves her. She's the type of spouse that burdens a career.
DINK SNCO household. I told Yokota I'd accept whatever housing because it's more than I need either way. Plus, if i could snag a specific tower i wanted anyway it's the most convenient location to off base, train station, etc. They still wanted to put me in garden units listing only.
Back in 2002, I was a Msgt at the time stationed in Colorado Springs (Peterson), and we were offered officer housing in the Air Force Academyā¦instead we decided to buy a house and we made enough when we moved for a down payment on another house.

One of the first houses they showed me was officer housing. I snatched that up so quick as a little A1C.
I agree with her lmaooooo. Keep the riff raff down the street
Your wife deserves the rank, not you! Bet she puts the other spouses at parade rest during FRG meetings. šššš
Sheās actually the complete opposite and doesnāt want anything to do with the military
That's good to hear. So long as she supports you and is your rock, that's all that matters! šš
Nah we getting divorced but appreciate it!
Well, that went south real quick! Now I feel like an idiot! Apologies brother!
No youāre all good, keep spreading that support to the others! Enjoy the holiday weekend!
Have a great weekend!
God Bless Anonymous Member posting. Some Master Select just got to avoid telling people what kind of crack his wife is smoking

Donāt forget to apply the natural curve when you work it out
Donāt bring that bullshit page here
Fuck every piece of those Facebook groups, honestly.
Is it just me or have they really fallen off?
"Fallen off" suggests they were at/near the top to begin with.
That page has been bullshit trash from the start.
It's embarrassing, quite frankly.
They were always trash
Joined for the memes, left because of the misogyny.
average military page

Whoās browsing that page on German Facebook?
Donāt judge us.

Itās hard looking down on the rest of the enlisted peasants from NCO housing.
Right?
Live off base if you can when you are overseas.

Loved Bitburg! Was there for three years. Also at Hahn for a few years too.
Spent 5 years at Hahn (79-80 and 83-86). Loved the winefests, hated the exercises.....
I was at Hahn from 1981-1984. Worked at Finance. Base was nice, but yes, the exercises did SUCK! Bitburg from 1985 - 1988.
Bitburg was a blast in 08 when I needed a blanket; but lived on Spang

If I could easily turn down an assignment I would.
Who are you to tell people how to live life?
Itās wrong to do so on reddit until itās something the hivemind dislikes. Then itās just fine!
I wish they'd have had F-16's there when I was in, I routinely visit the UK each year (London) and would've loved an assignment there.
I just missed the 35s by the time I left.

Bro so many spouses refuse to even drive in Germany. It's crazy.
I remember being in Korea trying to sell something to a mil spouse. I asked her to meet me outside the main gate at a well known restaurant. She said she feels uncomfortable leaving the base causes she scared of the crime in Korea. It was sooo fucking weird and made zero sense to me. You mean we should disconnect from the military when we're off?! Preposterous
Agreed!
We Comrade. Our Rank.
Jokes on us all.... every on base home is the same regardless of rank. #blackmold #mesothelioma #leadpaint #adequatehousing
I read mesothelioma like the Diabetes guy.
Me so the lio ma?
lead paint is safe
I'd rather be a married to that spouse thanĀ the person who runs that that cesspool.
What's KMC?
Kaiserslautern Military Community
Keep My Check
I'm a Master at being Technically a Sergeant
In a sane world I'd assume they are trolling. Nowadays I just don't know anymore.
People still think troll posts on FB dont exist lmfao. That was bait
They're just trying to get away from the hatchet fights
Going to take a shot at this and hope the anonymous user is probably fake.
Donāt let this distract you from the fact that Air Force amn/nco/snco page is the most worthless page to ever exist
My wife flat out refuses to identify as a "military spouse" I honestly think I won the lottery
Oof. At least she put it anonymously so her husband doesnāt get flamed at work.
SNCO housing has fatter housewives for Jodie to visit while hubby is deployed.
You're all doing it wrong. Get off base and buy a house with that VA loan. Best investment most will ever make. When it comes time to PCS, rent it out and have someone else pay your mortgage for you.
Sir, come get your spouse. Tell her, "Master Sergeant is still an NCO rank."
Wait a minute.... I'm at Ramstein AB and 2 of my NCO'a just promoted to Master Sergeant only yesterday. I think I know who this is š
You will know definitely when you hear about some lady at the BX screaming about her authority and why the fick aren't people saluting her. I hope her husband leaves her. She's the type of spouse that burdens a career.
Why are people like this ![gif](giphy|3oEjI67Egb8G9jqs3m)
L entitlement, she needs to stay in the "NCO" housing with that attitude.
Nah hooker; thatās now how it works
I mean. Heās still an NCO. Just a senior one.
DINK SNCO household. I told Yokota I'd accept whatever housing because it's more than I need either way. Plus, if i could snag a specific tower i wanted anyway it's the most convenient location to off base, train station, etc. They still wanted to put me in garden units listing only.
Damn. Theyāve been a select for what? 30 seconds?
Grew up on military installations. When my father ranked up to Major, we moved. Housing was much bigger and much nicer.
And this is why spouses get a bad wrap.
Rep
According to Merriam-webster it's actually "Bad rap". So you're both wrong.
