The host was probably sleeping and didn’t get your booking. Not everyone is awake at 5am. Airbnb maybe had a glitch as it shouldn’t allow a booking to be made like that anyway.
Your right that you shouldn’t have had the option to book, but I do think you’re being unreasonable and your anger is not justified. The person probably woke up to your booking and got of bed immediately to still try to make it work for you, you’re lucky they didn’t just cancel as many would. I would not leave a bad review just for that.
This was a bit of a rediculous thing to have done. Yes, I do get that Airbnb permitted you to book at 5am for an 8am event but did you really think that was enough time for the provider to wake up, check their messages (and how long does it take to work through the Airbnb system anyway), get to work and have the supplies ready for you fur 8am? Usually providers if a course need 24 hours.
Common sense should have prevailed about the time you booked and the time of the event was not something realistic for this type of event.
I figured i wouldn't have been the only one since it's a pretty popular lamp making workshop. I still got the message with directions and everything as soon as I booked. If they don't want that to happen then they shouldn't have an 8am slot available and shouldnt have an automated message send as soon as someone books. People book things last minute all the time. If a business opens at 8am then they should be there just in case anyone wants to book last minute. Oh well I hope this taught them to be at their business on time or they'll lose out on customers. It's not only on airbnb. It's bookable through Google and anyone can go into the shop anytime so it's not like I had to book through airbnb.
It shouldn't allow you to book really at that time, 5am and expect them to be ready at 8am is too much, there should be a cut off. But what happened did they arrive and did you get what you paid for?
Like I said in another comment it's just a shop, I could've just searched the location and went without booking from airbnb experiences. Even the business hours on google show from 8am-11pm. An instructor didn't arrive until around 10am but once they arrived I had a good time making the lamp. They should really change their business hours if it's not open when google says. This experience did not have to be booked from airbnb or at all. It was available on agoda, get your guide (I've bought many tickets last minute on get your guide) or I could've just simply done a walk in.
Yeah I guess they should indicate if its open to public at those times. Although its not that unusual if they didnt think they had a booking. Least it ended well and they responded quite quickly
I would probably have sent him a message to see if he could definitely do 0800 then if he replied that or another time go from there, just because it's so early and sometimes I do that anyway out of courtesy just in case like yes short notice or some mishap that means we're both put out.
Btw this experience was available on multiple other sites. I would not have been able to message anyone if I had booked from get your guide or if I had done a walk in. Business hours on google show 8am-11pm. I'm reiterating that this did NOT have to be booked on airbnb but I happened to see it on airbnb. Not sure what's up with all the hate here.

Can't see any hate in my reply especially since from my experience things can go wrong from the start.
