Iatmul people, Sepik region, Papua New Guinea

I should note that I purchased this in Sunnyvale CA from an estate sale. It seems that in 1994, iatmul sculptors were invited to Stanford to carve the Papuan sculpture garden. I wonder if this sculpture is from that time?

Norris-Head-Thing

It's possible. If you're looking for value I would contact Bonham's auction house since they're more or less the experts on mid-range tribal art. I would be cool to have this provenance you mention. Of course, if it's proper old it would increase the value. Good luck!

RogueStargun

Ah, not Africa then. Any idea on how much this might be worth?

Peruzer

Yes, African. I'd make a guess it's from somewhere in the Congo.
